  1. Is there xantham gum in it? It is not a gluten source but some are sensitive to it. You may need to go with only stuff you know you tolerate for a bit and then add back in stuff like the bread and other questionable items one at a time for a week and see if symptoms reoccur. That can be helpful in pinpointing other intolerances.
  2. Hi again, I just noticed from a post in another section that you live in an area that has a Wegmans. You may want to give them a call and see if any of the shampoos they sell under their label are safe. I have never asked. They are a very gluten savvy company and may have what you are looking for. I have never had a CC issue with any of their food products...
  3. Fantastic, I had the same experience. They had me on all kinds of pills none of which did much good. The diet was the ticket for me and it sounds like it was for you too. I did some research after I had my genes tested a couple years after my celiac diagnosis and that was when I found that my celiac gene is considered an RA gene here in the states. It...
  4. Ener-g has a dedicated gluten free facility. I had issues with the crackers that they make and wondered about the same thing. In my case it turned out to be the soy in the crackers that I was reacting to.
  5. This link is from the NIH's Celiac Awareness Campaign it may be helpful. Open Original Shared Link
  6. When I called Nutribiotic a couple of years ago the shampoos and conditioners were not gluten free at that point. That's why I use the skin cleaner as shampoo. If they are now would you please let me know?
  7. What a great boss! It is so wonderful that he is willing to work with you on the issue. If your not taking sublingual B12 you might want to get some. It may help a bit with the brain fog, it does for me.
  8. You could still be in the withdrawl phase. Also gluten is often a delayed reaction. It can take up to 3 days for the symptoms of a glutening to appear.
  9. A little early for the outside here but my windowsills are starting to look pretty green. I have started heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, banana peppers, sweet peppers, rosemary, chives, cosmos, allysm(sp), sunflowers, blue morning glorys and white nightblooming 'morning glories' and of course sunflowers. I have lilacs, rose, multiple varieties of...
  10. I am a member of the General Mills advisory board, perhaps the panel has a bunch of us. Ah for the day when I can answer a survey they send without page after page of 'nope don't touch those'
  11. Grab his hand, I would have been tempted to bite that finger!!!! I am glad you have had good results with relief from your arthritis pain, as I myself did. I was told so many times that I just had to learn to live with the pain that after a while I believed them. It is not a coincidence that so many with RA also suffer from IBS. If I had been gene tested...
  12. I agree with this. You can try talking to your boss first but if they can't provide a safe enviroment finding a different job is about all you can do.
  13. Ask for a complete celiac panel, your regular GP can order it for you. Without gastro symptoms you should also call your derm and when the rash is active ask him to biopsy looking for DH. If you have DH you have celiac and no other testing would be needed. Just make sure the derm does the biopsy correctly, he needs to biopsy the area adjacent to the lesions...
  14. I agree with the others. You should get onto the diet.
  15. For a safe hair dye you may want to try Herbatint. I get it in either my healthfood store or in Wegmans but I believe you can also order it on line. Be aware that the conditioner sample they give in with the dye is not safe. I like this product also because you don't have to use the whole product at once. I have short hair and one package would be good...
  16. Giovanni makes some good gluten free shampoos and conditioners but they do contain soy. I have an allergy to soy products so that makes it even harder to find hair products, if the Vitamin E they add isn't from wheat it's from soy and it is hard to find any skin or hair product that doesn't have E added nowadays. I use something that isn't technically shampoo...
  17. Thanks for posting this Laurie. Glad your still around. Something a lot of folks also forget is that the body has a lot of mucous membranes other than just the gut,. Moucous membranes which gluten has been proven to be absorbed by. They line the mouth, nose, eyes, rectum, urethra and the vaginal tissues. When using gluten topicals like makeup, soaps...
  18. Why would marrying someone who is dissimilar to you make you sick? You might want to do a bit of study in genetics. Marrying anyone dissimilar is not going to increase your chances of being sick and marrying someone with the same genetic makeup is going to INCREASE your chances of passing on hidden genes for disorders that require two genes for presentation...
  19. Having children with someone with the same genetic background would actually increase the chances of having a genetic disorder come to the forefront. That's why we don't reproduce with our brothers and sisters.
  20. I almost always carried a sweater or jacket since childhood that I could fold up and put on my lap to muffle the noise so I definately know what your talking about. For me there is a direct relationship to eating food that I am intolerant to and the rumbling. In my case there were two big offenders other than gluten, soy and dairy. Can't say for sure...
  21. You should go to a derm and ask for them to biopsy specifically looking for DH. They will need to biopsy the area NEXT TO an active lesion not the lesion itself. A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of Celiac. It can take some time for the antibodies to leave the skin and even a small amount of CC will reactivate them. For me the DH and the bone pain were...
  22. For me respiratory allergies were definately connected but I can't say they will be for all. Celiac requires a trigger to rear it's head, you have apparently had that trigger but your twin has not. Your twin should be on guard and should at least get the blood test periodically. There are folks that are celiac that are asymptomatic, or seem to be. Celiac...
  23. Yes. With the exception of the gall bladder removal your childhood sounds much like mine. The pain in my legs was so bad it made my Mother cry and me scream. I used to have nightmares that someone was cutting my legs off. I only had Hep once but my twin's liver was destroyed by age 15. I also had seizures and brain fog so bad I went from a straight A...
  24. You should contact the company. Something may have gone wrong with that batch either in production or transport or in handling. They will want to hear from you and who knows perhaps they will replace the bad batch.
