  1. Stonefire Pizza is a chain restaurant that is like an upscale Chuck E Cheese. The have a buffet with as million varieties of pizza, (which I know I can't have !) a salad bar, a pasta bar (another no), soup, and an Asian bar. I was thinking that maybe some of the Asian entrees were gluten free. I plan to eat salad today and bring my own dressing. boring...
  2. Hi there, I have a three year old and we are now officially potty-trained. I have an older son as well, and he too was into 3 and then was potty-trained. I do think it takes a little more time with boys. Don't push it is great advice and keep it very positive. My son was really motivated by a cool sticker chart taped to the bathroom door AND potty stickers...
  3. I am going to Stonefire Pizza tomorrow with my family and another family. Has anyone tried it? Besides the salad bar, are there any gluten-free options? I am also lactose intolerant, so anything with cheese is out I did email the manager at the beginning of the week and heard nothing. Thanks for any insight! Terri
  4. Hi there, I'm pretty new to this too, so the toaster question is a great one! I've not tried to make anything from scratch yet. I have found a substitue gluten-free bread from the grocery store natural food freezer section. Maybe you will have that as an option? The brand that is decent imo is Kinnicinnic foods. It is alot more expensive than regular...
  5. Hi there, I am like that in the morning, too, except I don't eat anything and my bowels wake me up! The cleaner I am with my diet the better. I eliminated dairy before gluten and that has really helped. I find it takes me 3-5 days to get somewhat normal after eating an offending food. I would really suggest trying the dairy free route for awhile to see if...
  6. I've been following the eat right for your type diet. It seems to make alot of sense and the foods I enjoy the most are on the mostly beneficial list, which is helpful. The idea is that you eat the right type of foods for your blood type. Some foods are beneficial, some neutral, and some harmful and act as a poison in your blood. I have felt pretty healthy...
  7. Does anyone know a decent-tasting gluten-free bread that doesn't taste like sawdust and won't make me sick?
  8. Thanks, that should get me started on my way. I think my hubbie picked up Soydream for me, but looks like Silk is a good one to try! Just to clarify, I've been glutened by both ricemilk AND soymilk this week, but read the label of the soymilk this morning and decided to find a different brand based on the malted barley in it. So yea, I know, read the labels...
  9. I second that! I open the freezer at Good harvest Natural Foods store and the smell is like no other! Yuck!
  10. So I am eating a bowl of cereal dry rightnow. Why you might ask? Because yesterday I learned that rice dream has barley in it. So I learned my lesson and looked at my box of soymilk this morning before pouring it in my cereal, and sure enough, malted barley. I'm frustrated! Thanks for the vent. Anyone have brands that they recommend of any kind of milk I...
  11. I have had trouble with soda, too. Sounds like staying away from coke products is the thing to do? Does anyone know if there are products that are 100% gluten-free? I'm not a big soda drinker, but enjoy it when at a cookout. Thanks, Terri
  12. Hey, thanks for the great list. I haven't changed my cosmetic products at all...should I? I thought it has to pass through the intestines in order to affect? Thanks for the advice. Terri
  13. Hi Jay, I have been struggling with same issues. I was not diagnosed with celiac, but i am certain I have it. I went gluten-free a month before the test and probably skewed the results. I do know this, if I stay away from gluten, I feel better. I am extremely sensitive to it. I would really prefer a straight out diagnosis, but my body is telling me that...
  14. . You have to watch some of them, because they have charcoal, which can contain gluten. Help!! I didn't know that charcoal contained gluten. Can you still cook with it? Is there a brand I can buy? Please help, we are having people over for a cookout tonight! Terri PS I am learning so much. Thanks!
  15. I also noticed on another thread that Rice Dream will be going gluten free in the near future so that's something to keep in mind.
  16. Hi, I just joined the Milwaukee "Sprue Crew" but haven't been to a meeting yet. I am totally new, too. In the newsletter it had info on a bread company that you could purchase bread from at discount prices and pick-up at the meeting. I just haven't had the time to go to a meeting. Anyone else? Terri
  17. Have you found a good restaurant in Milwaukee that you recommend? There is a restaurant called Roots on the East side that I went to before I was gluten-free and I am going to in a few weeks for my anniversary. I will let you know how it goes! There is a place called Tess that I've not been to that I've read is great and has a gluten-free menu. I want...
  18. I went to Disney three days after going gluten-free....it was the easiest place to do it!! There is a passporter's book for Disney for Special Needs that lists some good restaurants to try. I ate at the Garden Grill in Epcot and actually got to eat gluten-free rolls and a chocolate dessert! The other place that was totally accomodating was Liberty Tree...
  19. So this is a little late to respond....but thanks for the kind welcome. Musical kids are great and fun-totally love what I do.
  20. Hi, Have any of the Wisconsites tried the Gluten-Free Trading Company? It is in Bay View on Chase and I think Oklahoma?? I just started a gluten-free diet and there were alot of products there that I haven't seen at Good Harvest. It was also helpful to see what natural products are gluten-free since I am so new to this. Open Original Shared Link Terri
  21. Hi, I'm really a newbie....but I've learned alot from all of you thus far. My bloodwork has come back normal twice but I am certain that this is my issue since I feel great when I am Gluten-free Casein-free! Anyway, I am a high school band teacher. It is alot of fun. I have two boys ages 3 and 6. Can't wait for summer to work on getting healthy and try my...
  22. Hi Natalie, I am currently going through the bloodwork for celiac and was interested when I came upon your post. My firstborn is six and I had a heck of a time producing milk for him as a baby. He was born at 7 lbs. 2 oz and at 6 weeks old he was 6 lbs. 3 oz and obviously hungry. One of my parent's friends was a lactation consultant and helped me through...
  23. Hi there, I am new to the boards and do not have a confirmed diagnosis as of yet, I am still waiting for the bloodwork to come back. However, I feel better and my symptoms go away with time on a Gluten-free Casein-free diet, so I am going to stick to it regardless of the results. Anyway, I had Heinz tomato ketchup yesterday and feel awful today. Is there...
