My DH rashes are NEVER mirrored. My original outbreak was on my scalp, then some on my chin, my upper back, and a few scattered ones (even on my eyelid) untill I was diagnosed. My dermatologist was unable to diagnose untill I went to her with a nice fresh blister which she removed to send out for a biopsy, and it came back as DH. I know I have seen...

ARCHIVED Passover - Egg Free & Nut Free
elefky replied to elefky's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I would love the EF/NF chocolate cake recipe if you don't mind. As far as "matzo balls", I use the mixes that come out for passover; Paskez, Lieber's and another one. They are called Kneidel Crumbs, or Kneidelach mix. Make sure they are the potato based mixes. If they are marked "non-gebrokst" there is NO matzo meal in them. -
I generally don't have a problem with Passover, other than missing matzo brei and matzo meal pancakes. So many items are made from potato & potato starch that I actually stock up on stuff to keep me for a while. However, I have a young cousin that is allergic to egg and nuts which are both major ingredients for cakes and cookies at Passover. Since...

Anyone have any recommendations for Port St Lucie or Ft Lauderdale, FL? We're going next week to take in a couple of Spring Training games. Thanks

Get her tested. Tell the dermatologist you want her tested for DH and maybe have a full set of allergy tests.

That's correct. That's the way both my dermatologist and Dr. Peter Green of Columbia University pronounce it.

There crusts are from a company called stillridingpizza.com. Check there website. They supply special equipment and instructions regarding CC. But ultimately, it's up to the restaurant to follow the instructions. I went to a pizzeria in Manhasset on Saturday that uses these crusts. It was pretty good and the leftovers reheated well in the toaste...

OK I went Saturday night. It was pretty good. Thin crust, crisp. About 10" pie. My non gluten-free husband tasted it and said it was not bad. I had about 2/3 of it there, took the rest home and put it right into the freezer. I brought the leftovers to work today and heated it in the toaster oven. Came out better than I expected. Villa Milano...

I found a website called stillridingpizza.com. They make a gluten fee rust that they supply to restaurants. They give the restaurant some special equipment and instructions to avoid cross contamination and the restaurants use their own toppings. There is a small list on the site of restaurants in NJ, NY, Conn, and Texas. I'm going to try to get to...

This was in today's (Feb. 5) New York Newsday. Pretty decent information. "Nutrition: The challenge of giving up gluten BY JANET HELM | Chicago Tribune February 5, 2008 Just when bread was starting to make a comeback after the low-carb craze, it has been hit with the gluten-free frenzy. Hoards of people are giving up gluten, a protein found...

I believe that DH has no limitations regarding location. Mine started on my scalp and was pretty itchy. I first thought they were fly bites (we were on vacation in Florida). I was scratching and scabbing and scratcing off the scabs, and on and on. I went to my doctor who said "I can tell you it's not cancer" (what else do you think when you have skin...

www.babycakesnyc.com My sister lives in the village so she picked up some stuff for me for Thanksgiving that I stashed in the freezer. Cupcakes, brownies, cornbread. All delicious and still good frozen.

My husband and I went to Bistango this summer. I am gluten free, he is not but we both ordered from the gluten-free selections so that we could share and we both thought everything was excellent.

ARCHIVED Pf Changs...singapore Street Noodles A Must Have!
elefky replied to wolfie's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
My non-gluten-free husband and I went there for the first time and the gluten-free menu looked good enough for him to be willing to share dishes with me. We ordered the chicken lettuce wrap, the Singapore stree noodles, and lemon scallops! Delicious! and I had leftovers to take for 2 lunches! He enjoyed it too and we will be back. Next time less food... -
Is anyone familiar with the fast-food chicken restaurant, Pollo Tropical? They are a Florida chain (and one location in Jersey) with mostly grilled chicken dishes, salad, rice & beans. I ate there last winter, choosing carefully, and I was ok. Going to Florida this December and I decided to email them today, but I was just wondering if anyone else...

I finally got to Mozzarelli's! My husband and I took Wednesday off to go to the city for a show. After we got our tickets at TKTS we took the bus downtown so I could finally walk into a pizza place and order a slice! Well, I had 2 slices. First, a regular cheese slice, then a veggie slice. I was in gluten-free heaven! They also have a few gluten-free...

I took the Carnival Glory a couple of years ago. My travel agent notified them ahead of time and they faxed me a form to fill out and fax back. I brought some gluten-free pasta and a loaf of bread with me. I spoke to the hostess or maitre d' (or whatever she was) the first evening. She took my stuff and every evening I had my pasta prepared however the...

You can also get them at www.minimus.biz much cheaper than gluten free.com so it pays to get a lot as well as other items they carry. It's all travel sizes of things.

It's a good thing you didn't go on Sunday. Apparently they are open Mon-Fri. My husband & I took the bus down from the theater district on Saturday. I was totally psyched for ordering pizza by the slice and totally bummed out that they were CLOSED!. They are in the insurance district and many places don't bother opening on the weekends.

I went to an Outback for the first time since I've been gluten free. You have to keep in mind that even thought it is a gluten-free menu, it's really just a listing of regular menu items that can be gluten-free by the elimnation of certain ingredients. I ordered the rack of lamb minus the sauce (delicious) the garlic mashed potatoes (needed no alteration...

I'm going to Cleveland Labor Day weekend, heading to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a couple of Cleveland Indians games. Any gluten free restaurants in that area? Thanks Estelle

I took a Carnival cruise a few years ago. My travel agent notified them of dietary concerns and they sent me a form to fax back. I brought a loaf of my bread and a couple of boxes of my pasta with me. On the first evening I spoke to the hostess. She took the pasta and the bread. Any morning I ate in the dining room (only) I could get my bread. We agreed...
