I understand what you're going through to a degree. I was just dx 2 weeks ago and have been on the diet for 4. Before that I was really sick. We all thought I washaving mini strokes and that it was only a mattero fo time til the big one hit. I lost 16lbs. I only weighed 132! My family was supportive until they figured out what was wrong. Now they see it as... -
Do sodas like coke and pepsi, the dark ones, contain gluten? It's just another one of the many pieces I'm trying to put together on the diet. I used to really live on coca cola. I was so tired all the time that I needed large doses of caffine to keep me awake. I drink alot more water now but still like my coke. Also is koolaid gluten free?

It is my understanding that all whiskey has gluten in it. -
I'm trying to figure it out. I've got Coco loco bars, the enviro kids snack bars, and rice cakes. I was going to chop up some veggies and take them with me. I will most likely go to the store in the morning to get some other things. Any ideas? Are all nuts safe (Part of the problem is I'm still trying to figure out the diet too. My mom said that we should...

Sorry guys. I need to vent for a second. One of my best friends is getting married on Saturday. I'm maid of honor and let them know of the gluten-free diet as soon as I did. The reception is buffet and I can't seem to get them to understand that even though there will be grilled chicken and salad there that cc is just as bad. Plus there are two brunches and...

ARCHIVED Newbies: How Is Everyone Doing?
Crystalkd replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If your biopsy came back like that I would at least start cutting back on the gluten now. You have nothing to lose by doing so. I started the diet the day after my biopsy. I feel better already! The diet was the only way one of my doctors figured it out. When I got my biopsy back it was negitive so I went to Mc Donalds and had lunch. BAD IDEA!!! I went to... -
Brain fog SUCKS! I'm having a major bout of it right now!!! I'm on a very tight budget as well. I'm trying not to buy as much the processed food. I try to cook enough for two or three days at a time but I still buy some of the processed stuff. I'm right there with you I'm still trying to figure it out. My advice to you is to go COMPLETELY gluten-free. I...

One day at a time is an AA motto but I'm finding myself having to use it right now. My family went to Cracker Barrel for dinner last night and I got teary watching them all eat biscuts and cornbread. My brother in law didn't help by getting the Roast Beef which was what I always got. I don't think that's one resturant I'll be going to for a while.

I'd been told that I had IBS, a spasming colon or that it was all in my head. I've been on the diet for three weeks. I'm still learning where the hidden gluten is but I'm doing a lot better.

I wish I had more help to give you but I'm new to this as well. (3 weeks) I have found I like Whole Food Markets gluten free bread. Nature's path has good cereals, Vans, has good waffles,Tinkyada has good pasta, corn torillas are not as bad as I thought, kool-aid, miracle whip, and quaker rice cakes are no nos. I haven't started baking my own stuff yet but...

I'm starting on week 4 of the diet. I'm still figuring out what I can andcan't have. I'm doing alot better. Now I just need to make sure all the gluten is out of my house. It is a little overwhelming to think I need to look at my makeup, hair care, and laundry stuff. I think all that is fine but to be honest I'm not sure. It's still tough to watch others... -
Drink a Kilian's Red for me! I wish I had thought to slurge before I went on the diet but I was in so much pain the day before I started that it wasn't hard to do without reservation and just the thought of feeling well agian kick started it for me! I could think of so many other things I want but my stomache hurts just thinking about them.

Being so new to this I REALLY feel your pain!!! The other day I could have KILLED for a pizza and beer and then remembered how sick I was three weeks ago and decided agianst it. I just need to figure out things that will freeze well. I just try to remember how bad I felt compared to how I feel now! (That didn't stop me from flipping out the other day though...

Crystalkd replied to Joannem's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I understand how you're feeling. I was told a week ago that I have celiac disease. I've been on the diet for 3 weeks and 1 day. It is mind boggling but I'm going to try to start off with fruit vegitables and meat I know I can have. (I've been eating alot of the prepackaged stuff but can't afford to keep doing that.) Then I'll add other things in as I can... -
ARCHIVED New To Diet...need Help
Crystalkd replied to Crystalkd's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We have a big international framers market here. I've been told things are cheap there. I need some pointers on the types and brands of gluten-free baking products and things that don't taste like cardboard. What cheeses can I eat? What are some things that have gluten in them that I might not sspect. I'm getting better at reading labels but it's still confusing... -
Being so new to the diet and not being able to afford to continue eating the processed stuff I need help figuring out what "the basics" are. I like to cook but I'm not sure what the basics are of what I need to have to make alot of things myself. So far all I know I have is gluten problem. What do I need and what Brands to make things taste as "normal" as...

I've only found out in the last week that I have celiac disease. I was on the diet for 13 days before that. (I blew my diet and was really tired and in alot of pain. That's how they figured it out!) I've been thinking about the whole dating thing to. Reading the posts I've come to realize that dating is the same as relationships. Some understand and some...

I could see why you would want to do that if you're so sick. I'm still new to all this and it's still confusing to read all the labels! It takes forever! I'd call your doctor and see what they say.

Crystalkd posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi all. My name is Crystal. I was told 5 days ago that I have celiac disease but have been on the diet for 2 1/2 weeks. My question is this: I went to a gastrointerologist and had a biopsy done after 2 blood tests came in in a gray area. The biopsy came back negitive. I then went to see an Internist. He said that even if the biopsy comes back negitive you...
