  1. Hello Friends! I desperately need your suggestions... I have a 4 month old baby and I'm breastfeeding.........and I'm have major issues with the Big C. I had this problem toward the latter part of my pregnancy and right after delivery but, these issues usually resolved within a few hours of taking Senokot or drinking tea. This has been going on...
  2. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  3. For safety sake, be sure to check with the manufacturer first before consuming fondant. I did alot of research for a friend who has a bakery regarding fondant. I did discover that the 2 following manufacturers are safe (the 3rd would not comment): Bakels Fondant We can confirm that the Modified Food Starch in Pettinice RTR Icing is derived from...
  4. Hello! There's a tiny healthfood store by me, in Southern California, called Vitamin City (not affiliated w/ the chain) that caters to several different food issues (lactose, soy, nut-free, sugar-free), however, the emphasis is on vegetarian, organic, and gluten free products. They have two giant sections (one dry goods, the other frozen) dedicated to...
  5. When it comes to mainstream cereals there's Rice Chex (gluten-free label right on the box), Fruity or Cocoa Pebbles. My favorite is EREWHON Rice cereal w/ Berries (like rice krispies but better and healthier), you can find it at Whole Foods/Sprouts/Henry's markets. Just watch their packaging, not all flavors are gluten free
  6. Hi Dawn, Not to worry, once you get the hang of it - the gluten-free lifestyle becomes second nature. Here are some quick breakfast ideas: Cereal (Rice Chex is my fav - Cocoa/Fruity Pebbles are great for a sugar fix), PB&J on rice cakes, hard boiled eggs and cheese slices, Trader Joe's frozen gluten-free banana waffles or rice pancakes (they...
  7. Thanks for the info Liz!
  8. Hello All! I was recently going through my cupboard when I noticed that I had several baking mixes that had expired (remnants of my early gluten-free hoarding days). Is it OK to use mixes that have expired? I just assumed that since they were in sealed packaging that they would still be OK. I'm not a baking guru, so any advice on this would be greatly...
  9. Hi Amber, I'm going to Oahu/Maui in a couple of weeks. Ken kindly gave me some great suggestions too. I was inspired to do some more research. Here are some links that pertain to both islands: Oahu Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open...
  10. Hi Friends, Just wanted to let you know about a great Dr. I've been seeing for our fertility issues. His name is Dr. Paul Magarelli. He has offices in Colorado and California (I went to the CA office). I've never been more pleased and pampered by a doctor's office in my life! His staff was kind, caring, and brilliant. Dr. Mag's knowledge and sensitivity...
  11. Hello Friends! I'm traveling to Oahu and Maui in a couple of weeks. Does anyone have any good gluten-free restaurants they would recommend? I know they have the 'ol reliables: PF Changs, Outback, and Roy's - I was just hoping to find some other suggestions. Many thanks in advance!!!
  12. DaveyBoy, I'm having the same problem. I wasn't sure if the issue was on my end or the forum. I can't even find the button to log out so I can refresh and re-enter!
  13. Hi! I suggest Nature Made pre-natals. They are labeled gluten-free on the back! You can get them at Target for a good price
  14. cmbolen, It's really best to wait a year for his system to heal before trying to conceive. Usually, motility/count/morphology will improve once his system is operating properly. After being on the diet for a few months, I suggest going to a fertility specialist for an evaluation for both of you (that is, if you haven't done so already). It's easy...
  15. Hi MsMini14, I'm right by you, I'm in Ontario. Thanks for sharing the gluten-free registry site - I haven't seen that one before. Very good source of info!
  16. Hi babinsky, I'm in Ontario/Upland. My friend just opened up a bakery in Montclair called Sweet Addictions about a year ago. She started baking gluten-free just for me but started making gluten-free goodies when interest grew. She offers gluten-free goods every Thursday (call for availability - she always sells out) or you can make special orders...
  17. Hi - Sounds like it's time to find another doctor. Not to mention, I would also recommend waiting a 6-12 months before trying to conceive. It's best to let your system heal. Your digestive tract has been compromised/damaged from years of gluten consumption. There may very well be nothing wrong with your reproductive "parts" but Celiac can affect other...
  18. Hello! I just wanted to add that you really want to watch the instant/powdered mashed potato ingredients too. Manufacturers often add wheat to make the mash smooth and thick. Just a thought
  19. Hi Hippiegirl! Sweet Addictions opened up less than a year ago - it is in the northwest part of Montclair. Annette always has gluten free goodies on Thursdays. However, she makes gluten-free items per order throughout the week. Note, she does make regular wheat based baked goods too. She has taken great precautions to avoid cross contamination -...
  20. Hello All! I've wrote last summer about my friend Annette who opened up Sweet Addictions bakery in Montclair, CA. She makes specialty gluten-free goodies and cakes (including Wedding cakes!). I just wanted to let you guys know that she will have a booth at the Celiac Conference in Los Angeles on May 3. Annette will bring a variety of goodies to taste...
  21. Wow - this sounds familiar! I too experienced flashing lights in my peripheral (with eyes open and worse when they were closed) and single black dots at the center of my vision path. These occurances happened in great frequencey before the gluten-free diet. They began to diminish a year after going gluten-free. However, I do get them from time-to-time...
  22. Hi GlutenGalAZ! What part of Arizona do you reside? I've visited the Pheonix/Scottsdale areas on several occasions and have not had any problems dining there. Z'tejas, PF Changs, Carrabba's, PeiWei, and Picasso's all had gluten-free menus. Also, there is a gluten-free bakery Open Original Shared Link . I've also had good luck at smaller restaurants...
  23. REAL homemade Rice Chex Mix w/ gluten-free pretzels at Christmas - I'm so happy I could cry!!!!
  24. Your symptoms should calm down once you go on the diet for an extended period of time. Just be diligent and don't cheat! You may want to search the posts for advice on getting started on the diet - there is a bit of prep work. They diet may seem daunting at first but, don't get discouraged. It will seem like second nature before you know it - and you...
  25. Trader Joe's has a gluten-free product list and their prices are pretty good!
