  1. I made it again. This time we made french bread pizza out of it. SOOOOOO great!!! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, again! (My kids thank you as well )
  2. I just started baking my own bread, I was a little apprehensive about it before. I have a bread machine but never use it. I throw all the ingredients (per instructions) in my kitchenaid mixer, put into pans, set on a heating pad set to medium for the rise time and then bake as directed. The only time it didn't turn out, I used a silicone baking pan-not...
  3. I disagree. There's a thread on here right now regarding a recipe for french bread, I made it monday, it's wonerfully crusty on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. I usually HATE gluten-free bread, but this was exceptional! But not sure how french and italian breads differ... Open Original Shared Link
  4. I made this on Monday, It was great to have fresh baked bread on an icky snow day! My 1st time not using a mix, I omitted the egg replacer part (didn't have any) and it turned out PERFECT!! My 2 kids ate 1 whole loaf by themselves that day. My DD actually asked me to never buy bread at the store anymore! Thanks for the recipe!
  5. Have him try some of these recipes: Open Original Shared Link They're some of my tried and true, and ones my DD loves. There's also one that I posted for a coffee cake that is TDF!! (you can also make it into cupcakes) Open Original Shared Link Have fun with it!
  6. I know it's totally overwhelming at first, but it does get easier each day. Before you know it, it will be 2nd nature to all of you. One day at a time and take advantage of all of us here--as we will of you We were diagnosed 1/06 (I say we because it really is a family venture). It was crazy at first, our 1st trip to the natural food store here was ...
  7. ryebaby has some great points! My dd feels 'different' and chooses not to really discuss the celiac disease with kids at school--for her own reasons, which she would really rather not discuss with me...She's not being bullied, I think she doesn't want to bring attention to the fact that she's at all different from the other kids.. But in our house, my dh...
  8. I just talked to 'Dave' in customer services at Starbucks (1-800-23LATTE) and he said that the only gluten containing items they have (besides the bakery/food items) are the frappaccino's--vanilla bean and chocolate chip, the malted frapp. isn't carried anymore and the egg nog they use during the holidays has trace amounts of gluten. Otherwise, all of the...

  10. We've used the Schiff for years, both kids think they're getting a treat!
  11. OH NO!!! I had called Starbucks when we 1st had a diagnosis (2 years ago) and they said the mocha's were gluten-free, only no sprinkles on the hot cocoa. My dd gets a peppermint hot chocolate once a week and hasn't had an issue at all, but I'm going to check it out again! Thanks!!!
  12. Vaseline makes it MUCH worse (for us) The only thing that clears it up is Butt-Paste, without fail. It's just that every time he had a BM, it flairs back up. Its been 2 days w/o gluten and he had his 1st solid BM-finally. I know it could still be viral, but I started this so I'm going to see it thru. I think I will just focus on the gluten at the moment...
  13. Is his just gluten or is it dairy too?
  14. I'll rephrase the topic, I wasn't sure what to call it. Thanks for the info though, I didn't think a week was enough. I will definately take it thru his Dr. appt and see if he's doing. I'm getting worried about him. His bottom was bleeding last night, the rash was soooo bad. If I don't change him the minute he poops, he screams in pain. My heart breaks...

  16. Are Nancy's products gluten-free? (website) Yes, all of our cultured dairy and soy products are gluten-free. It's a local creamery here in Oregon. I know "Nancy's" daughter It's pretty good stuff, more on the sour side--we use the plain kind for sour cream too-it's great on chili.
  17. So we've decided, with the pediatrician to go ahead with the gluten challenge to see of DS's bowel issues and eczema clear up--is it virus or not??? Anyway, I didn't what the norm was for how long to keep him off the gluten. They suggested a week and then see him at the end of next week. Is that long enough, or does it depend on his symptoms and whether...
  18. Thanks guys! I spoke with the pediatrician yesterday, he said too that it's not uncommon for this virus to last 2 weeks and it will be a full 2 weeks tomorrow. I said if he hasn't had a solid BM by tomorrow, I'm going to go ahead with the challange thru the weekend and see what happens. They agreed that that would be a good thing and then they will see...
  19. Mine's the opposite. My celiac DD will eat/try anything and always has. My non-celiac son won't eat anything unless it's white/cream--no other colors....hence my recipe (modified from Deceptively Delicious) for chicken nuggets dredged in broccoli and breaded in crackers!
  20. He had the blood test in August when he turned 2. We had an appt with our GI, he told us at this point everything was OK, but if anything changed to call and let him know and we would re-test. He said in the results there was a number that came up (I'm not sure what it was)--he said that this particular # doesn't mean he will end up with celiac, but it...
  21. I don't know if I'm overly paranoid or what, but here's the last few weeks: Norovirus is going around, I work in a hospital with critical care pts and ER, I'm always VERY careful, wash up, change clothes etc... but sometimes you bring stuff home. Anyway, DS (non-celiac...) started having the big D, it's been a week and a half, no solid BM's and a KILLER...
  22. Hi Jenny, We use the Premier Japan wheat free hoisin sauce. I've found it at New Seasons and Wild Oats. I use their teriyaki sauce too. They're pretty thick so I usually dilute them a bit to make it last longer--it's a little spendy but tasty--and not too spicy. You could always use some red pepper flakes if you wanted it spicy.
  23. We use all the Suave 2 in 1 shampoo/cond. We buy the triple pack at costco. Most of the time we end up using it as a body wash after swim class too.
  24. If you're looking for relaxation at the end of the day or a good stretch to wake up, I'd get Rodney Yee AM/PM yoga and stress relief set. If you're looking for toning and weight loss, I'd go for David Swenson Series 1 Ashtanga Yoga. That's the one I currently use and it kicks my butt, but my arms, chest and back have never looked better!
  25. We too didn't care from them. The 'bite' to them was too much for my DD and they made the roof of my mouth totally raw. I still like the Pamelas chocolate espresso cookie
