  1. Wow!!! I went to Uwajimaya, the big Asian market in Beaverton and I was so impressed! Everyone I talked to spoke English too, which was a huge bonus. Rice, sweet rice and tapioca starch was 0.69 per pound! I also found a lot of other stuff there too. The best part was that everything has an English label on it that lists ingredients and allergens BETTER...
  2. We use Butt Paste. One of the stongest and most effective creams you can buy.
  3. Thanks so much for your help! We have a big fancy Asian market near the hospital where I work, but I have a feeling it might be more expensive--I'm willing to try it though!
  4. That pumpkin bread I posted the other day. I will be making that as muffins and the berry cream cheese 'cake' instead of regular coffee cake or monkey bread (recipe's on here somewhere), fruit salad and the hashbrown casserole with some sort of fancy sausage. I like stuff I can make the day before-too hectic trying to get us all ready for Easter Mass!!
  5. I haven't ventured out to buy my flours at at an Asian food market yet, but since everyone talks about how affordable it is, I'd like to. Are there specific brands to get or to not buy? Can you buy in bulk and not worry about CC? I've been buying the same brand for 2 years because of it's safety, but if I can save some $$, I'm ALL FOR IT! Thanks for...
  6. A large loaf od the specialty bread was 6.50 or 6.75... A baguette was under 3$ and it's huge. The cupcake was giant and was also under 3$ and worth every penny! My daughter thought everything I brought home was really good.
  7. Update: I made them again as muffins instead of bread, I reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup which brings the 12count down to 150 calories !!! I didn't miss the sugar at all! If making 12 muffins, spray tins lightly and then fill to the top of each cup. It filled each one perfectly! Bake for 30 minutes still-since they're so full.
  8. We went on saturday. It was pretty good! Came away with a huge baugette, a large loaf of raisin/walnut bread (used for french toast this morning -but also good by itself) and a huge chocolate cupcake that really was fabulous! If you visit the "store" (really a kiosk outside of Trader Joes) go early, they open at 11, I came around 2 and they were sold...
  9. With the sweet potato-I'm sure it would be awesome, you might want to add the oil to make sure it wouldn't be too dry--but maybe wait until the very end to see what the texture of the batter. It was like a cake batter that flowed into the pan very easy, not lumpy or gloppy, but not watery. My husband had a poker party last night and they disappeared really...
  10. Preheat oven to 350, spray 9x13 lightly with cooking spray (or make muffins) 2c Pamela's baking mix 1.5c sugar (a lot, but you can reduce to 3/4 if you want) 2tsp cinnamon 1/4tsp cloves 3/4c egg whites (or 4 whole eggs) 2c canned pumpkin (or 1 15oz can) NO oil!! (or use 1/3 c if desired) You can frost with cream cheese frosting if desired Stir...
  11. The one we went to was on Milwaukie Ave, it's the house that looks like it's decorated out of Hansel and Gretel with all the candy, cute house, good idea, bad food. I just got back from the new bakery--don't blink, you'll miss it!! It's a little kiosk outside of Trader Jo's. The owner let me sample a few of the breads which were fantastic. The prices...
  12. Thanks Jenny! (I got your email too ) I'm looking forward to going. We tried the one in Milwaukie last weekend and I wasn't impressed--neither was Maddie. She said I make better cookies That felt good!! I hope this one is better!
  13. I make this breakfast casserole every weekend, i use a lot of eggs because i use a lot of whites: makes 8 servings with 250calories each: 1 pkg shredded hashbrowns obrien 2 gluten-free chicken sausages (I use the Aidelle's from Costco-any flavor)-remove casings and chop small 7 large eggs 10 large egg whites 1 large tomato thinly sliced 1 cup ...
  14. We keep a pkg of the premade cookies at school in case of a surprise b-day treat from another kid. If this is true, it's HORRIBLE!! I really trusted that company!
  15. Pamelas???!!!! What? When?
  16. Has anyone eaten here? Is there anything gluten-free? I know they serve rice noodles and steamed rice, but not sure of sauces and stuff. Wonder if they will make steamed chicken and veggies with no seasonings or sauces.... Thanks for any info!
  17. Are you still constipated? If you're feeling better overall but are still finding yourself constipated, it may be the constant use of the laxitives. The longer you use them, your body will build a dependancy and you will have a difficult time going without them or having to increase your dose over time because your body is going to need more and more.....
  18. We do with no problems. But I rinse the dishes that have gluten on them before I put them in. I always use the sanitize option too--not sure if that helps with the gluten or just the kiddie germs

    ARCHIVED Appt With Ped. Gi

Janet, Thank you for the info, I will take it with me. He wasn't off of gluten for a long time and he will be back on for more than 3 weeks which may or may not be enough time, I don't know. His intestinal issues never cleared up 100% off gluten, but there were a lot of other changes that we noticed right away, especially behaviorly. We don't eat a lot...

    ARCHIVED Appt With Ped. Gi

We just went thru this. Today was our dr appt actually. I had taken our son off gluten, there was a fabulous response--I had a brief glimpse of a little boy who wasn't actually in his "terrible 2's" I called the GI and the pediatrician (both of whom I adore) and they both wanted me to keep him off gluten until 1 week before the appointment to see if the...
  21. I'm pretty sure they are gluten-free, but they're really sweet!!
  22. I'd like to know about the pumpkin too!! I've frequently made the Non-gluten-free weight watchers recipe of 1 box spice cake and 1 15oz can pumpkin--replaces egg and oil, and it's AWESOME--I'd love to know if I can do that with this mix... The 1st time I had the Namaste cake, it had frosting on it, it was really good, but it definately turns it into...
  23. I agree, but she said the school is nut free and there's almond flour in that mix. But that's the only one we use in our house!!
  24. Us too, I've gone CRAZY with them, baked oatmeal (with eggs fruit and milk ), cookies, muffins, cakes--whatever I can put it in, I DO!!
  25. Way before I found this site and knew any better, I just scrubbed the heck out of them a few times with the Dawn foam, I didn't remove the season or anything, which I guess was taking a big chance--BUT my dd is so very sensitive she has a reaction immediately after a few bits of something and she's never had a reaction from anything cooked in the pans (and...
