ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something

So my GI just called... I am literally shaking I am so upset. I told her about the heart monitor and the additional pain/bloating. She said that I need to be taking Benefiber (which I refuse to do because its derived from wheat) and the muscle relaxant. I said, but I cannot take the muscle relaxant when I am constipated, because it makes the problem... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Stuffed Turkey. Is It Ok To Eat?
melmak5 replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not to get all Alton Brown on this, but there is nothing worse you can do than to stuff a bird. It increases the cooking time and dries the meat out. DOWN WITH STUFFING! (Up with "dressing" on the side, gluten and non for all to enjoy!!) -

POLL - GLUTEN FREE WEDDING MEAL OPTION - In YOUR gut? I am going to a wedding tomorrow. The bride's has an aunt has celiac disease and they are making a special meal for her and I... but it contains soy, which I cannot have. So instead I asked for a plain piece of beef, the veg and no starch. Today is the first day I haven't thrown up what I have... -

I met with a covering dr. yesterday. The more often dizzy spells = an ekg, which was normal, so she is having me wear a heart monitor for a few weeks just to make sure my ticker is a-ok. She said that all of this was confusing for her, and could only imagine what its like for me (the lack of communication from doctors and the primary care who is here... -
JNBunnie1 - Thanks for checking in. I have been posting in the "OMG" thread under the Leaky gut... forum. Things have not been getting better (though the past two days are not any worse). Less throwing up, more bloating. Barium swallow showed normal anatomy and response. So no surgery, which is good... but no answers, which is frustrating. I have...

My Sicilian grandmother would do the same! Soooooo good. DO YOU HEAR ME GUT... HEAL, SO WE CAN ENJOY FRIED FOODS AGAIN.

This article, in todays NYTs is about fried pizza making a crispier crust. I wonder if it might be the solution for gluten-free pizza doughs tasting even better. Obviously not a healthy alternative, but maybe as a treat? Open Original Shared Link November 7, 2007 The Minimalist A Basic Pie: No Oven Required By MARK BITTMAN NOT long ago,...

So... my GI still hasn't called me back and her assistant said she is in procedures all day and that I am "on her desk with a large stack of charts for her to get to" So I called my primary care back. Apparently my primary care doctor is now not returning until February?! So I might have exaggerated a little, but I got an appointment for tomorrow... -

Thanks Carla - I guess my dreams of spontaneous regeneration are dashed... for now. This damn doctor still has not graced me with a phone call. Its infuriating. Someone mentioned early maybe teflon. Good idea, but I don't use the stuff, nor plastic utensils. Its gotta be something. I feel like I should buy Sherlock Holmes hats for everyone in... -

Is there any evidence of the body being able to heal itself and/or fight off bacteria/parasites without the use of drugs and or herbs? I have had a relatively good day and a half. Less pain, less regurgitation, but much more gas and bloating (still pain when I eat). If I keep on keepin on, is there a chance with good nutrition/sleep/hydration my body... -

Kassandra - I am so sorry. I would highly recommend calling your doctor ASAP and giving him/her the name of this ER doc, date you wen there and exactly what happened. And demand a course of action from him/her. It is really hard to be your own advocate when you are sick, so if you have someone else to do the yelling for you, it might be time to call... -

Thank you julie, but it looks like this is something that would have shown up on the barium swallow... but good detective work! My money is on bacteria. Or what I originally thought... CHESTER THE ALIEN! -

My GI left a message saying that my barium swallow showed normal anatomy and physiology. She said that she "just became aware of genetic testing for celiac disease and is wondering if I am interested." 1. This is stupid to leave on a message without further information 2. She did not mention the additional lab work that allergist ordered and I sent to... -

Rachel - I also react to the snickerdoodles, but I couldn't help myself. Whenever I eat I react, so at this point I am shooting for things I react less to. If I stick to two cookies, my tongue doesn't swell up too much, so I tried to keep it to a minimum. Kassandra - I agree with the the others that the ER might be the best place for you, not the most... -

My friend just sent me three boxes of Enjoy Life cookies. The snickerdoodles were the best, hands down... and I believe they meet your dietary guidelines. Have fun!! -

Definitely bring something. You don't want to end up hungry and tempted by the evil foods. If you bring a small you-portion and then you can bring chips or veggies and dip (something you can pull a portion out for yourself before the wolves have at it). (I know dip has dairy usually... but you can buy a pre-made tub of it and not fuss) Its a party... -

Kassandra - I am glad you laugh. I was making periodic table of element jokes the day of my barium swallow. No one thought they were as funny as I did. All of this stuff is so invasive and ridiculous, I think laughing is the only way to get through it. -Stay well hydrated, maybe load up on vitamin C and zinc if you can tolerate those two to ward-off... -

I should have known than to think stool samples were a thing of my past. Nothing is funnier than carrying around your own poop (outside your body), nothing. Thank you for the information -

I think thats a good point, trying a little to start. How were you diagnosed with what bacteria and how do you know its gone? (If you don't mind me asking) -

covsooze - Thanks for the thought. I have been palpated by over 10 doctors and none have found a hernia. Is that something that would show on a barium swallow? I am assuming the pain would get worse over time? My money is on the bacteria not being gone. I wish I could tolerate a probiotic of some sort to try to balance things out. -

Also, the rectal bleeding has stopped (even with all the constipation) so I am wondering if three weeks ago I was in fact "glutened" which would explain the blood work, digestion worsening and the emotional/mental drama. Its just weird about the regurgitation/acid reflux. It seems like a non-classic sypmtom, not that its impossible, its just confusing... -

Rachel, CarlaB & NoGluGirl (and all others who think about my insides) I do think that this is more of a disease/bacteria/parasite thing... even more so after my "normal" barium swallow. (The procedure went fine, I will have the formal results in a day or two, but I am assuming they wouldn't send me home if they saw something drastic. My insides... -

Carla - thanks, yes I am avoiding allergens... with the exception of the traces of milk in the baby formula. Maybe tomorrow's barium swallow will be telling, but right now I am about to scream/cry/and pitch a fit because I am so beyond frustrated. I don't know if I need to send a horrible email to my roommates saying "don't touch my food" or go clean... -
