  1. 4 cheese are usually: mozzarella (not fresh, but fresh is nice, use sparingly cause it weeps) parmesean and/or romano provalone ricotta I am a HUGE fan of making it with bbq sauce (instead of marinara) and topping it with bacon (pre-cooked) and pineapple
  2. caramelized onions, garlic, 4 cheeses, spinach... if I am feeling sassy
  3. I forgot to add... Staying well hydrated is key. It really does help.
  4. Yes, this happened to me before I ever had any digestive woes, celiac or any other problems. The day before I get my period I used to get D, like crazy. (Mind you, before all of this, I was a once a day, normal bm girl.) I also get pain in my lower abdomen and upper thighs. I hope you are feeling better.
  5. By "for kids" do you need something that is chewable or can the child swallow pills?
  6. Don't be embarrassed, everybody poops. Floating means your eliminations have undissolved fiber in them, which is a good thing if you are eating fruits/veggies/brown rice and whatnot.
  7. I feel very lucky. My friend has offered to come with my to my doctors appointment tomorrow. I am not an emotional person but lately I have been breaking down a lot and I just don't want the doctor to be dismissive if I start crying. Its been 5 months and I think I have been foolish to not have asked for a buddy until now, but hopefully we can work towards...
  8. NoGluGirl - Thank you. I do sometimes feel like I just want all of this over, and its good to know I am not "nuts." I didn't eat for most of yesterday and then I ate food at night and burped it up. So I think I am going to not eat for a while and see how that goes. I know that not eating is not an answer, but right now I just cannot do it. I feel like...
  9. tarnalberry - I have not seen an allergist since I was 8. Right now its been primary cares, GIs and gyns.
  10. I left Beth Israel (that is where my two GIs were) because of the inadequate care. My first GI tried to get me to see Dr. Kelly (head of the celiac center), but he nor his assistant could convince the doctor to see me any sooner than 4 1/2 months. So it was suggested I see GI doc #2, who "has experience with celiac patients". (whose favorite phrase was...
  11. I feel like I am loosing my mind and/or sounding like a hypochondriac. I broke out in hives today and I cannot find any cause. I literally ate the EXACT same thing I ate yesterday. (brown rice porridge, flax seeds, ground cloves, cinnamon, prickly pear syrup, a handful of pecans and coconut.) I feel like my body is falling apart. After the Friday...
  12. You can also leave an extra snack with the nurse, just in case. Make sure you label them VERY well. I would really question trusting the cafeteria staff with preparing a "safe" meal for your kid. Call me skeptical, call me under the weather and cynical, but if they are admitting they don't know how to deal with a peanut allergy or a gluten intolerance...
  13. I just broke out in hives. I ate the EXACT same thing I ate yesterday. I am don't think I could be in a worse mood. Noglugirl - It was actually a doctor who recommended the peppermint tea because it is suppose to "relax" the digestive muscles. I will not be drinking that again. The ginger does not seem to be a problem. I had a cup of ginger tea...
  14. "most" people start to see a change at the 2 week mark (of being gluten free) but it takes 2-24 months to be "healthy" Your mother needs to be seen. I am as stubborn as she (if not more so) and it wasn't until I was regurgitating everything I ate would I finally go. (I probably could have saved some time and pain if I went a lot sooner.) Best of luck...
  15. And... Both probiotics are gluten/wheat/dairy/casein/soy free. I just regurgitated peppermint tea. I think the bacteria never got killed and are making babies in my intestines like its 1999.
  16. NoGluGirl - I can most defiantly try some broccoli and see if that does anything. I have been eating ginger and it does not seem to create any different response. mftnchn - I cannot fast for that long. I have mild hypoglycemia and if I go for extended periods of time without food I get dizzy, shaky and pass out. I think the bacteria are still thriving...
  17. Rachel & Carla - I have been switching between SunFlora and Jarro probiotics. I am really really hesitant to add anything new into the mix. I was taking some supplements (grapefruit seed, goldenseal) to try to ward off bad bacteria and ended up breaking out in horrible hives all over my torso. Although the prospect of fitting into one pant size...
  18. Vanilla almond milk is my fav. It even works in place of cow's milk in gluten free pancakes.
  19. Rachel - the antibiotic is typically given to people with "travelers diaharea" or so says the rx bag. No, the doctor didn't retest for bacterial overgrowth. When I called in in pain she just through more pills at it. (I have since decided to find a new GI, but the first appointment is October 29th) I have been taking this probitoic off and on since...
  20. mftnchn, Thanks for the welcome! I was on xafaxin 400mg 3x daily, 10 days - I did two cycles of this. I would say yes, most of the pain goes away when I do not eat, but not all. I am often awoken in the middle of the night from pain. I have been using two different probiotic companies, one with 6 strains, the other with 8. I just cut coffee...
  21. At the suggestion of NoGluGirl I am asking for some help. (I posted in the "coping" section and got some good responses, but I would love your suggestions.) I was diagnosed June 28th with celiac disease. I then was diagnosed with a bacterial overgrowth. (I finished a second round of antibiotics last week) I am not getting any better, in fact I am...
  22. I am a little confused. Do you have to eat one thing from each of those groups every day? How do you determine if it is one thing or not the other... do you have to wait 4 days to try to piece it together?
  23. I spent most of last night on the bathroom floor. I don't know what the hell is wrong, but needless to say I am ready for this elimination diet (but am secretly hoping it is an easy-to-get-rid-of parasite). Thanks for the support. Hopefully this will end soon.
  24. That is a really interesting point. I wonder if patients have been approaching them with "a touch of sprue" in the sense that people have been going to office visits and asking "could this be celiac?" I also think these comments further the "9 years for a diagnosis" problem in America. Is there a way for you to in/formally respond to this group of...
  25. The problem with deli meats is that they are processed and cooked, making them great breading grounds for certain types of bad bacteria. Jerky is dehydrated and does not have the same qualities that bacteria desire (moisture, accessible nutrients - the salt makes it inhospitable for bacteria). It still might be a good idea to check with your doc...
