Its sooooo not worth it. 10 minutes of "fun" and weeks of awfulness. I don't have a gluten-free donut recipe, but it sounds like there are some out there. I hope you were able to treat yourself to something sweet, gluten free and delicious. I just discovered kinnitoos and they saved me from a meltdown last week. I have started a small "stash" of...

I cannot mentally get my mind around made-of-wheat-but-doesn't-contain-gluten, so I am going to pass on the benefiber. I am going to give citricel a shot. I dropped of my sample for the parasite test. I doubt I have one, but it will be good to cross it off the list. I am cautiously optimistic about this new doc. She seems like the "excited to discover...

I met with the new doctor. Overall impression, good. -She is questioning my celiac diagnosis because a biopsy wasn't done -She said that because I have pain randomly (sometimes waking me up in the middle of the night) it would be unlikely, but not inpossible for it to be my gallbladder. (gallbladder problems = pain an hour or so after eating) ...

Noglugirl - thank you very much. I really appreciate your brain and your heart during all this. Today it feels like I am burping fire. Hopefully this new doctor tomorrow will have so ideas. Yeast and gallbladder are on the master list.

ARCHIVED Celiac-when Family Members Refuse To Get It
melmak5 replied to angel42's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
HouseKat - switch his out for sandpaper, ask him how his butt feels. My house mates complained about me buying the "nice stuff." I told them they could control the tp quality when they were bleeding from their ass. They shut up right quick. Sometimes I loose my ability to be "sweet" or "nice" about these things. People don't need to "understand... -
I think I discovered that I was glutened two Fridays ago, I am almost 100% positive. I went out to eat and had a lengthy back and forth with the waitress, but about 7 bites into dinner I felt really full, bloated and nauseas. I think it explains my pain, bloating, fatigue, exhaustion, rectal bleeding, inability to read for more than a few minutes and...

ARCHIVED How Long Did It Take You To Stop Hating Celiac?
melmak5 replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Two and a half months and still hating. On good days I am happy that its just food that causes problems, on bad days I really wish it was something I knew more about or know how to deal with. (My dad and sister have diabetes and I have that down pat. My hate is mostly around the lack of adequate packaging/disclosure laws and the giant learning curve... -
Noglugirl - I haven't noticed any "sugar cravings," but I do feel like I need to brush my teeth more frequently. happygirl - I had 1 breath test (it is not type specific). Xifaxan is the antibiotic I have been put on twice. I did not have a 're-test' between, the doctor just refilled the rx because of the pain.

-I have not noticed anything with fat causing more or less problems... I have been keeping a detailed food diary, so hopefully that will shed some light on things. -The gallbladder is now on the top of my list. -I was munching on pineapple yesterday (cause I read it has anti-inflammatory properties) and proceeded to have my lips and tongue puff-up,...

ARCHIVED How To Deal With Meals Within A New Dating Situation
melmak5 replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I developed this recipe with a friend. You can use a can of black eyed peas in stead of fish and make it vegan. Tilapia Coconut Curry 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 tablespoons mustard seeds 2 tablespoons cumin seeds 1 tablespoon powdered coriander 1 medium onion, diced 1 medium sweet potato, diced 8 oz. sliced mushrooms 3 cloves... -
ngg - gallbladder is on the top of the list. thanks! jnb - i am less bloated, but all other symptoms have not improved on round 2 of the antibiotics... but the doctor gave me the SAME antibiotic at the SAME dose, which seems like a bad/not every effective, idea I am admittedly cranky, not towards anyone here, but I feel like I cannot get enough sleep...

I am going to see a new primary care doctor and a new GI in the next few weeks and I would love any advice/input anyone has as to the "next steps." * Last week of April - gas, bloating, D, trouble closing pants, especially after eating * May 3 - woke in the middle of the night, sharp pain mid-chest; very painful 1 minute after swallowing food...

Goodness, I hope you feel better soon. I would call a doctor or at the VERY LEAST a nurse or n.p. to make sure. You might want to consider an enema. Mirilax can take a few days to work because it functions by increasing the water content of your stools. If you aren't moving anything you might need rectal stool softeners and/or additional help. The longest...

ARCHIVED Controlling Bodily Functions
melmak5 replied to LilyCeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Lilly - that really stinks. I often have very little warning, but luckly have always had a bathroom near by. My GI prescribed taking half an immodium tablet every morning, but I swing between explosive D and painful C so quickly I don't mess around. Staying hydrated seems to help me somewhat. Perhaps others can offer more suggestions. -
Are you ready for this... Apparently there is NOTHING wrong with my ovaries, the radiologist checked them out and deemed them "normal." I am so confused and more concerned that there is something ELSE wrong with my insides. Someone brought sandwiches for everyone in the office today and I nearly had a meltdown over not being able to partake. Today...

the internet says don't eat carbohydrates with bacterial overgrowth but i am having a rough time with fats right now and i don't think bacon is the answer to this problem (i don't think my body would take kindly to a large influx of meat) and i have not been digesting the dark leafy greens i have been eating... they come out the way they go in when i...

Last night and this morning were the worst pains I have experienced thus far, I almost passed out this morning while going to the bathroom. I finally reached my doctor who said "there is no reason for you to be having these symptoms, but I am going to prescribe a second course of antibiotics." We shall see how these do. I am also trying to follow...

ARCHIVED Think I'm Getting Glutened
melmak5 replied to confusedks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I recently got rid of my "gluten free kitchen sponge" because a veteran clued me in that it could have been the source of gluten. If you think about it, if you lay the sponge on the sick/counter top or whatever, while you are flipping over a plate you are probably increasing your risk of cc. Yes, it is very very small, but since I share a house with two... -
Wow, that is horrible. I am so sorry that you had to deal with that for 3 years! Currently, I feel almost exactly like I did before being on antibiotics. Perhaps I am being overly deluded, but I am hoping it is just the bacteria again. (I still haven't been able to figure out my whole ruptured ovarian cyst thing yet... but I do not have any sharp stabbing...

NoGluGirl - thank you so much. If you don't mind me asking, how did you find out you did have a problem with your gallbladder? I have had a blood test, urine test and ultrasound of my abdomen that showed a normal gallbladder. Is t here something else I should be looking at, asking for? Thanks again, Kristina

My gallbladder has checked out a-ok 3 different times. I take probiotics as well, before, during and after my course of antibiotics for bacterial overgrowth. My endoscopy was clear, no ulcers either. I really appreciate your advice, I am hoping I have narrowed it down to just the bacteria, but I am open to other thoughts. Thanks, I will pm them both...

I really really don't think it was gluten, the itching was very specific to being hot and/or sweaty, no blisters, no bleeding. I guess anything is possible, but the spots are almost all gone and I am able to wear clothes comfortably... with the exception of my ever changing waistline. I have had to wear either elastic waste or draw string for the past week...

I share with two gluten-eating house mates. They are respectful of my gluten free cabinet and bin of cooking utensils, and let me know when they are going to use wheat flour. (the first time someone made banana bread just walking through the kitchen made me sneeze... so I go elsewhere and wait a while to come back) I never put anything of mine on any...

This just in... I might have done this to myself by taking echinacea and goldenseal capsules. I was trying to prevent my bacterial overgrowth from coming back, but I didn't realize echinacea is related to ragweed and chrysanthemums, which make me sneeze and wheeze. I am not taking anymore and shall see how I fair.

Dear amazing people of the board, You have been so helpful that I am asking once again for your advice/suggestions. In the midst of my digestive and ovary woes, I have yet again broken out in spots, this time worse than last. A GI saw the first round and said that it is not DH, and I have no other indication I have ingested gluten (but I am still only...
