  1. I wonder if the chicken was "chicken in natural juices" or possibly marinated? Sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope it passes quickly.
  2. I don't know off-hand, I have not had their products, but I would be cautious of any flavored teas. If you have any doubts, give the company a call and double check.
  3. I know, patience is not my thing. It took the doctors 2 months to diagnose me, and I know in "celiac diagnosis time" that is but a speck, but it just feels like I have been sick and unwell for a lot longer. Being in the ER last week just took so much physically and emotionally out of me. I just feel beat. I have had some difficulties contacting...
  4. I don't have a car, so I probably won't make the trip, but its really good to know its available. Gluten free since mid-June, but I had a lot of trouble (ie - was taking a multivitamin with wheat, working in an office licking envelopes, etc. - I had a big learning curve with one of those doctors who called on the phone and said "you have celiac disease...
  5. I can get raw cow's milk, but not goat at this time... though I am not sure my body is down with either. I take Jarro-Dophilus (4.4 billion per capsule, 8 species) FloraSmart (6 billion per caplet, 10 species) I chose them cause they are both dairy-free, gluten-free and are not suppose to break down in the stomach. I take one capsule in the morning...
  6. JNB - thank you, I know this is temporary, its just kicking my butt today. Yes. I was on probiotics, before, during and after being on the antibiotics. I have switched and mixed two different brands, to make sure I was getting enough. I have avoided dairy, corn and soy for the past two months. (I tried re-introducing all three on separate occasions...
  7. 1. Still awaiting the ultrasound pics to get to my doctor (they got lost somehow in the 2 miles between the two offices) 2. Saw my GI today for follow-up. -says there is no reason for me to be bleeding rectally, still -recommends 15 minute warm baths at night and anusol, with steroids to decrease any inflamation (although she admits she saw nothing on...
  8. It is possible to have a false negative blood work and still have celiac disease, which is why your doc is probably recommending the endoscopy. The procedure isn't a walk in the park, but it really isn't that bad. (feel free to pm me if you like, I can describe it in detail... as can many on the board) If you have blisters/rashes, it might be possible...
  9. UPDATE My ultrasound today showed ruptured and existing ovarian cysts. The technician was amazingly kind and knowledgeable. She said the pain I had during the pelvic exam was most likely due to the pressure causing one of the cysts to burst and the pain I had in my lower abdomen (near the insides of my hips) is a common pain after one bursts, because...
  10. Paulsalz1, Welcome. I can only speak from my current abdominal experience... but I would say "maybe" because its pretty clear that there is more than one thing going on with my guts, so perhaps the same is true for your wife. Prior to being diagnosed, it was the pain and 6-10x a day bathroom trips that prompted me to see a doctor. Its obvious now...
  11. Popcorn is a PERFECT cause of this. It depends on how quickly your body digests and processes food, when you will see them in your stools. (It also depends on how frequently you have stools.) Hopefully others will have more knowledge, as to "if this is ok/normal." But it sounds like corn to me.
  12. I don't know about the kidneys, but it seems pretty standard that 3 months after you have a ovarian cyst issue they want to re-check to make sure new ones aren't forming and old ones aren't getting bigger. It is pretty unacceptable that they did not give you a reason. Its your body, demand information. Thank goodness your body is responding well to...
  13. Good luck with your follow up appointment. Yes, it sounds like celiac is a possibility, and yes, you could be able to eat gluten and not have a strong reaction, or your reaction may not be digestive. NEVER trust "there shouldn't be gluten in ______" Demand your pharmacist checks or ask for the manufacturer's contact so you can find out. There are...
  14. Non-soluble fiber. One source is the hulls of untreated corn. They are not digestible by humans. Depending on the consistency of your stools, they can float. Are you eating a lot of fiber?
  15. Well... it was possible cross-contamination the landed me in the ER Tuesday for 6.5 hours. You don't really have to convince them, but I sure as hell wouldn't trust them with the handling of food. Sometimes I have to grab people and say "no, it really is that serious. I vomit, bloat, cannot button my pants, am in pain, poop for days... literally and...
  16. I love this website and the people that frequent it! They have ruled out my appendix as the cause of this 2x now. One with an ultrasound about 3 months ago, and then again this week in the ER (via blood work). The pain is much more manageable today. DElizabethE, it is amazing how doctors are so willing to chock any abdomen pain up to celiac. I...
  17. Thank you. Pretty much what you said to me, I said to him. But I began to doubt my convictions. He does not have the GI symptoms, but he has a zillion other problems that sound like celiac to me. He is severly anemic (the doctors have him on procrit) He is physically exhausted, all the time. He is depressed and it is near impossible to communicate...

    ARCHIVED Working

Lissa, I am confused. Are you asking about working with gluten (as in, you are working within a cafe and will be touching items with gluten) or are you asking how do people deal with possibly needing frequent bathroom breaks? For the first, I am not sure. I was so sick I had to leave my 2nd job in a bakery and have not been able to go back. (And...
  19. I was diagnosed in June with celiac, and finally convinced a family member to get tested. He has diabetes. His results were tTG/IgA - 26 (abnormally high) IgG - 2 (normal) AGG - 5 (normal) His pcp said 'I don't know how to read these." His kidney doctor said "you don't have any digestive symptoms, its negative" My question is... Should I...
  20. My nutritionist* said that things that go through the dishwasher are "safe." This EXCLUDES anything that is scratched, teflon or wood. I live with two gluten eaters. I have my own giant tub of clearly labeled pots, pans, utensils, storage containers. I wash all of these items by hand, and put them back in the bin. I use drinking glasses, coffee cups...
  21. It took almost 2 months for me to not have floaters... I have yet to have a "normal" BM (I have been waiting on that for 5 months, but hopefully soon!)
  22. You women are so amazing, thank you all. Short update... I have enlarged and painful-when-palpated ovaries. I have a referral for an ultrasound, which hopefully I can get done next week. Thank you for the push to take this seriously and get it checked out.
  23. My pain has been about an inch to the left and right of my navel, and in the corners, right inside my hip bones. I will definitely get a pelvic. Doctors cannot get enough of me. Thank you all. (I think I am in denial that there is anything else possibly wrong with me, but I will get it looked at)
  24. Thank you both. I am 26. They said I had "perfect urine" and all of the basic blood work/blood chemistry came back normal. I have no infection, nothing wrong with my kidneys, pancreas, spleen or liver. I am not ovulating (to my knowledge, but this whole ordeal had kinda thrown everything off), my last period was just over 4 weeks ago. I am not pregnant...
  25. I am still in the recently-diagnosed-and-in-recovery phase of things and up until Saturday I was doing really well. I became really sick Saturday, regurgitating food/water, broke out in red spots on my abdomen (NOT DH), sweating profusely, exhausted. Then Sunday I woke up in sharp stabbing pain in my lower abdomen and a small about of blood from my rectum...
