  1. This week was a really rough week. I was in a lot of pain, not eating during daylight hours so I could function at work and falling asleep as soon as I did come home. I really lost my fight and was feeling like I would never get better. This weekend my mother mentioned "oh as a baby you couldn't eat rice." 4 hours later when I was doubled over in pain...
  2. Sorry for the multiple posts, but I think its warranted under the "will scream it from a mountain top" clause... This week was a really rough week. 4. Many thanks jerseyangel.
  5. It is one of my own, I posted under "coping." It was titled "fasting." I can view it under my own profile, but its is not in the Coping section (beginning or end)
  6. I found some soy in the gluten free/dairy free cookies I was chowing on, just be careful. Maybe you have an issue with eggs?
  7. How would I know if a thread I created was moved and/or deleted? Thanks

    ARCHIVED Fasting

kbtoyssni - I agree in theory, but I have cut those items out and have not had any improvement. Maybe it takes longer than I am expecting for these to clear my system, but I cannot keep relying on muscle relaxants so I can sleep. I was not aware about the metabolism thing. I knew the body's metabolism would slow, but I didn't know it can take that long...
  9. Have you fasted? What type of fast and for how long? Did you find it helpful? I am in pain when I eat and have been having allergic reactions to things and I cannot pinpoint the cause so I am thinking about doing a vegetable broth and aloe vera juice combo for the long weekend. Try to give my insides some time to calm down.
  10. For anyone who has already done it, how long after cutting out soy did you notice a difference physically/mentally?
  11. I was diagnosed June 28th and I would love to know when it gets better. I know people say "it takes time for your body to heal" and I get that, but I need a smidgen of progress here. Throw me a frickin bone. cody - maybe our bodies are just taking the slow road to being super healthy and awesome (that's the delusion I am rocking today)
  12. Oh trust me, if and when I figure this out, you will hear from me, LOUD AND CLEAR. I have reported to not eating during the day so I can function at work. If I can eat solid food during daylight hours, you will hear me from across the continent.

    ARCHIVED Good News

That is fantastic! It sounds like you have a pretty amazing boyfriend, but its really nice to have a gluten-free buddy who "gets it." I hope things keep looking up.
  14. I agree with what others have said, but I also think that his parents must be feeling some pangs of guilt (even if they are not showing it) and were probably embarrassed when they didn't think to read the ingredients on the bbq sauce. (You expect gluten in bread, crackers, but bbq sauce, not an obvious thing, especially for people who are new to it) So...
  15. I am in a similar situation. Diagnosed via blood tests June 28th. Since going gluten free I have seen some improvements, but I am ALWAYS bloated. I am now headed for food allergy testing (I also have occasional hives that aren't DH). I agree with hathor, if you have a positive biopsy, you have celiac disease, but it sounds like something else is going...
  16. I have tried rice and chicken and did have to stop that. One last question, how long is a reaction time? I know this can vary person to person, but I am not sure how to pinpoint what's going on. (and I have a 4 month, very detailed food journal)
  17. I cook a bunch on the weekends and make individual frozen dinners. If your kids have access to a microwave at school, that might be an option. Soups, rice, potato, sweet potato, corn all freeze well. In addition to buying seasonal veggies, frozen veggies can be a real time and money saver. Frozen spinach especially. Rice and beans, when eaten together...
  18. So here is my situation. I have eliminated gluten, dairy, caffeine, alcohol, tea, chocolate, citrus... but I still don't feel better. (bloating, distention, D, hives) My question is how to figure out what else it could be. I like the idea of a rotation diet, but if you are rotating in and out foods, how do you determine if its almonds or avocados...
  19. Can anyone speak to the actual process and how they figured out which foods they were allergic/intolerant to and how? Thanks.
  20. Stress. Two very ill family members, working a full time job and planning graduation, working a part-time job, freelance writing, trying to finish a MA thesis.
  21. gabby - thanks for the recipe I FINALLY was able to schedule a food allergy test. Not that I want to eliminate another food from my diet, but I did realize I have been eating more nuts than usual. Maybe thats it.
  22. Wouldn't it make more sense to test for my current serotonin levels to see if they are off BEFORE going on any medication/supplement? I also firmly believe the only reason I am unhappy is because I am in pain and unable to do anything I used to be able to do, not even read. (which makes it really hard to finish grad school) I broke down and cried and...
  23. Thanks to you both. SSRIs and any medication is a personal choice. For me, I have a family member who reacts VERY severely to them, and it is just not a risk I am willing to take right now. I am willing to do anything else, just not that family of drugs. I just had some sharp chest pains 45 minutes after eating dinner. So I think I am going to...
  24. I met with the doctor (primary care) and she was very nice, met with me for an hour and a half, but in the end still has no idea what is wrong. She wants me to see the GI (who doesn't have an opening for a month) and now an allergist to figure out where the hives are coming from. I broke down and explained that even though she is new to the situation...
  25. I am in Cambridge and in the same "no car" situation. Maybe if there are enough people who post in this thread we could all meet up and go from there.
