  1. I had roommates that were awful about my gluten problems too, they would complain and say awful things about me when i wouldn't pay for 1/3 of the grocery bill, hello! I am not going to pay for what I don't eat! My suggestion though this maybe a pain in the fanny is just leave it sitting in the kitchen, you're doing her work for her so she'll just keep...
  2. Puppy Chow! Oh I loved that stuff, I did my undergrad the University of Georgia and since we're the Bulldogs they had puppychow in the dining hall before games. Thanks for a gluten free version!
  3. Personally, the doctor's note sounds like a good idea with the security measures that are up now, lord only knows what kind of trouble you might run in to, better safe than sorry. You probably won't be able to get through security with ice packs, they classify as a gel. My best suggestion would be to call NW back and ask to speak to a supervisor explain to...
  4. Oh I agree with the blank expression, my mom would do that to me, I was a terrible teenager too and man that would make me so crazy! And she sometimes would just act like she didn't hear me when I was in a "mood" and after a while I would realize just how dumb I sounded. I got over my teenage years thank God and now my mom is my best friend. I think we fought...
  5. I'm lucky because my friends and I have adopted a local pub that has woodchuck cider and Strongbow so I can drink along side everyone else and feel like I am apart of things look into what hard ciders the places you go to has you might be suprised!
  6. One of the reasons I was tested for Celiac in the begining was my lactose intolerance, I remember being so excited when the doctor told me that with a gluten free diet my lactose intolerance would likely clear up in a couple of months, and it did, it took about three months for me but I was luckily dxed quickly I only had Celiac symptoms from May to Dec....
  7. I grind my teeth so horribly! I got my dentist to make me a splint and I love the thing, it took a while to get use to I would wake up with it in my hand when I first got it but now I can't fall asleep with out it in. Ever since I started wearing it consitantly I stopped having a sore jaw that would pop and get locked in place. After I had braces I stopped...
  8. You could always make your own, my mom use to all the time, you can buy a slicer to make potato chips, and use a fry daddy and whatever oil suits you best
  9. That is really annoying, I had a similar inciddent in undergrad in college when I was first diagnosed I was on the meal plan and they sent me to a diatician who had no clue what celiac was and she then told me I could go through the menu and decide what sounded good and they would see if it had gluten in it or not, well after talking to my GI about it he...
  10. I was told by my doctor whom I trust very much that B12 is the best solution to numb and tingly fingers toes etc. And a lot of Celiacs are B12 deficient. I would give it a try it can't hurt! Hope it helps, or you find something that does!
  11. see this is why I love insurance companies, they won't cover contraception devices, instead they'd just rather have the expense of covering another person, but then again the addition of another person means another premium payment to them!
  12. Is New Leaf the one on Apalachee? Because the one on Apallachee has Tinkada noodles.
  13. Oh so I was wrong! there is one on captial circle good! I'll have to go investigate it sounds like they have more than the one on Apallachee. Thanks Andy!
  14. I go to FSU too!!! But I am a grad student as and the week progresses I am slowly seeing all prospect of any kind of life outside school slipping away! Do you happen to mean the health food store on Appalachee? I'm not sure there's one on Captial Circle but I could be wrong.
  15. Oh lord! That is terrible. Is there some type of alarm system that she could have hooked up that would call the police if someone tried to open a door or window? It looks like to me that the apartment complex would have evicted them for all the trouble they've caused. I hope everything works out and no one is harmed. Be carefull and stay safe, Let us know...
  16. First it was just stress, then it was my gallbladder but after the test for gallbladder function was fine, then it was my appendix which was also fine neither were removed thank God, then it was parasistes and that was negative then I had an upper and lower GI with nothing finally I had a full CT scan and it found nothing related to my stomach issues but...
  17. One more thing I am so glad I found on this forum! I am starting graduate school in the fall and always had the standard gluten-free sandwich an apple and some gluten-free pretzels and it got really old really fast but this seems like a great option, I can pack leftovers or whatever! No more boring lunch!! I looked at the Mr Bento jars but I think I like...
  18. If you are interested in art you need to go to Florence! Have fun!
  19. They have both soups and dinners. I also noticed yesterday that they have Redbridge as well.
  20. I don't know how easy it is to find but my local health food store stocks a pasta called Bionaturae it's from Italy too and to me it's the most like the "real" thing you can get when it comes to spaghetti noodles.
  21. It still kind of cracks me up the last and only time I cheated. I was Dx on my thanksgiving break my freshman year in college and being the stubborn thing that I can be I was determined that the doctor was wrong so I had my mom make me a turkey sandwhich after I woke up from the anesthesia from the biopsy and I ate it against her warnings and I got so sick...
  22. Thank you all for the feed back. It really is interesting the connections between all types of gastrointestinal disorders and gluten. He's traveling abroad right now but when he gets home I am going to try again to see if I can talk to him about going gluten free becuase even if it isn't celiac's it seems like it could help his colitis out he is still having...
  23. Our Super Wal Mart also carries Amy's products so much cheaper than our local health food store. I haven't seen the pasta but they have the Gluten Free Pantry stuff too I was so excited. The cheaper gluten free food that is good is the better!
  24. Thanks for the response! I think he's had about every other gastrointestinal test but an endoscopy and biopsy, I think I'll have to talk to my stepmother about it she's usually the one that can get him to do things or atleast go with him to the doctor and ask him about it. You know I almost think that that stubborn father of mine would rather take all those...
  25. Hello, I am a new member and very glad to have found this board! I am 22 and was diagnosed in 2003, very quickly because I have a wonderful family docotor who stayed on my case until I was well, he ironically then found out he and his son have it too. I have been doing very well on my diet a few early hiccups in the road but now I am doing great but my...
