  4. I sent a letter right before school started and handed it to her teacher and the nurse. The nurse openly admits she has never delt with this before. It just floors me that no one in this district has this disease?!?!? I need to do some research and make some calls and now it is time to go to the higher ups and take things in my own hand. What I don...
  5. Open Original Shared Link This is what I am using right now for my DD (celiac)and son(sinus infection). I got them at Whole Foods but Iguess you can order them online. I did just buy these from the Vitiman Shoppe and they were cheaper. Open Original Shared Link I am not sure if they are cesin free though. both should be gluten-free or so I was...
  6. UGH again I just talked again to the nurse today and she pretty much said the best they could do is hand me the lunch calander and me tell them what she can have. It just floors me that they can't find a dieticain that works with the schools and that they have no clue how to handle this. I even told them that. I causually mentioned the 405 or is it the...

  8. Wow It is actually nice to see this thread here! I have Hyperthyroidism/graves. I was diagnosed about almost 3 yrs ago. My original endo pushed the RAI but I just couldn't do it my guy told me NO! I also had 2 little ones and the thought of me glowing in the dark around them didn't sit well with me. So after a huge fight with the endo I decided to beg...

LOL My DD is just ting for her age 48lbs at almost 8 but then again she has always been small. I know what you guys are saying about being with the little ones when they get knocked out...
  10. hmseyer21, If you do decide to do the scope maybe you should request a meeting with the head of anisthesialogy? Explain everything many times and make that person 'get it' if at all possible. Youa re your childs advocate and he has already had issues with anisthesia so any respecatble dr should be good about it imo! Good luck and try not to stress...
  11. thanks Jackie! I would love her to ba able to eat there a few times a week I just can't see them getting their act together though. I hope they do because it anoys me that they are in the food industry and can make accomidations even small ones for any kids with allergies. Nikki doesn't ahve any other issues excpet celiac and a 7 yr olds attitude...
  12. GOd I hope youa re worng and they didn't mess up and not take the percautions! I actually had a fight with the anisthesiologist right before my DD's scope because he didn't think it was neccessary to take the percautions and we should ahve ran the muscle biopsy and I freaked out on him! Muscle biposys aren't always acurate. UGH Let me just say i am sure...

  14. I've read where a few people have posted saying that too. I would just call your insurance company. My DH HAD Ulcerative Colitis yrs ago but since had his colon removed and privately he is uninsurable because he was 'once diagnosed with UC' Which to me is CRAZY because now he won't get a huge host of major illnesses because he has no colon. No colon...

  16. I hope you feel better and get the answers you need. Good for you with nursing and sticking with it. I do have to comment on Fiddle -Faddle's post. though. I am saddened that some would would make a mom feel bad for NOT BF. there are many reason NOT to BF. I do believe BF is great if it is right for you and your child and do it if you can. I personally...

I am not sure if you ahve older children but keep in mind they will bring home TONS of art work you will love but you can't keep them all so you ahve to pick and choose and frankly something that can possible make you sick isn't one of them. I love the picture idea. I think the...
  18. thanks for all the info! you guys are great! Part of me has thought about the 504 plan but I want to give the school a chance. It is a brand new school so they are just learning how things work so I am giving them some leway. The nurse seems like she gets it and wants to understand but I am not sure if she talks a good game or really understands...
  19. I saw it and thought she was great! I was so happy she mentioned the gluten-free diet! I don't ahve aproblem that Elizabeth didn't mention being gluten-free the interview wasn;'t about her it was about Jenny and her son and autism. I figure if she can help a child with autism that is great. Maybe just maybe some one out there was watching and looks...
  20. thanks! I was thinking about elaving something with her teacher but everything I came up with had such a short shelf life. I had no clue Jiff made little pb things like that! What a great idea! Maybe those and some rice cakes since she loves rice cakes
  21. She does have a safe snack for class. I wouldn't call it a snack it is more treats ok junk food incase some one brings in a treat for the class that she can't have. Maybe I should send a granola ( gluten-free) bar to school with her. I talked to her teacher just now when I picked her up and she said she would talk to the nurse and the lunch person...
  22. this morning I dropped Nikki off and asked her if she brought her lunch and turns out she forgot it. so I went back home to get it.
