  1. The 10 y/o cooked tonight. We have green beans and new potatoes, raw broccoli and cauliflower salad, and strawberries with grapes and blueberries.
  2. I believe the OP said homeopath AND food allergy testing - those are 2 different tests. Our alt specialist did live blood testing. White blood cells start acting in a different way, other things show up on the test to show problems in the intestines...Ours described exactly how we were feeling/symptoms as if she were giving a script. The med dr just...
  3. Our "alternative" practitioners have been more knowledgeable than our medical doctors when it comes to allergies. Their tests have also been more accurate than the "traditional" allergy testing.
  4. Pretend that dairy is gluten. Take the same amount out that you take out for celiac.
  5. I tend to agree with the no dairy crowd.
  6. As a friend of mine who is a science teacher says Carbs = gassssssss Protein = smell The things I would focus in on are corn, creamer and ham.
  7. If you are doing it on your own, the food journal is the best way to start. I would focus in on the most common allergens then work out from there. We didn't do anything fancy or use special forms. We just wrote out what we ate with brands/ingredients and listed any symptoms with severity (0-10 for example).
  8. My boy is going to be in a book club this summer. He is used to not eating snacks at other homes but I really want to make it special for him and to also show people that behind our walls we (mostly the kids) are not deprived. Now, we are also milk (including cheese/yogurt and all), soy, egg, peanut, almond (and some little stuff) free. In basic recipes...
  9. We just had a child retested using the same lab that did our IgG testing. It was 1/10th what we pay the "traditional" allergy dr route. We will know soon how that went (still waiting on results). Our last traditional test was a waste of $$. It was not accurate at all (told me I was not allergic to 2 items I'm anaphylactic to).
  10. In most cases you have to be eating the food on an IgG test. Being off for a year would create false negatives in most cases. I did have one that tested high that I had not eaten in 30 years that I am also IgE allergic to and she said that usually shows a genetic issue. IgG sensitivities are also usually subtle issues which don't give an obvious...
  11. I have a business membership and I had to provide my tax id number on the form.
  12. Our savings on gasoline pay for our membership. I love the Click and Pull too. I sit at home and order online. The nice gentleman at our store pulls my items and puts them on a flatbed. I get an email. Hubby picks up my groceries on his way home from work. That means I get exactly what I order and hubby isn't calling me for every_single_item to...
  13. If it were me, I would go to another derm. I could not trust a word she said. I went to a local allergist and he kept telling me my anaphylaxis was a figment of my imagination. It didn't matter that tests by 2 other drs came up off the chart. Even my test at the nutritionist was enough to raise eyebrows. I can't go back. There is no trust. To...
  14. You don't need to join to check prices, just go online. Do keep in mind the online list doesn't show everything but it does give a good idea of the "stable stock". For us, it is cheaper. I buy their huge bags of rice and popcorn to grind. We also get fruit/veggies that don't come through our CSA. Paper goods are great too. IMO it is a great...
  15. I went to my soft touch chiropractor. There is a little place in the back that pregnancy can pull out. I don't know all the techno lingo but it sure felt good after the adjustment.
  16. It is amazing what you can put in pasta sauce and kids not notice. Start slow. Gradually build up. My kids LOVE kale chips - they will pretty much eat any veggie cooked that way - even brussel spouts. They tend to have a sweet taste that other methods don't bring out.
  17. If you are reacting to a whole family of foods such as nightshades, I'd suggest reading up on cross reactive pollens (probably birch for nightshades) and look up what is high in your area. Being treated for the pollen (birch for ex) will help eliminate or lighten the problems with the foods.
  18. If I had any doubt in my mind, I sure don't now. That looks exactly like what hubby and youngest kid has. In fact, the kid asked why I put a pic of him online and when did I take it.
  19. Go to a dr...yesterday!!
  20. Cutting out dairy is much easier and cheaper than cutting out wheat/gluten. There is no reason to drink milk...ever. Water can be subbed in most baking applications. We cook our pizza toppings in with a slice of bacon and you never notice there is no cheese. I can go on.
  21. Our allergies came first. We have added in sensitivity (IgG) testing in addition to allergy (IgE) testing. That is how we found out the whole household is reactive to wheat/gluten in one form or another. We have 2 we suspect to be celiac (dh type rash) but we will not do further testing because one that has the rash also tests IgE positive for wheat...
  22. To me, that sounds like an allergic reaction. My heart pounding is one of the first symptoms I get before mine escalates.
  23. Cook meals that are naturally gluten free. It may not be your favorite but beans and rice are inexpensive and filling. Veggie soup and corn tortillas is inexpensive also. Buy from a CSA or farmer's market. Foods there are usually cheaper than stores. Make your own bread/pizza crust. I've just started grinding my own rice to make flour and I like...
  24. Can you have carob chips instead of chocolate? It's been a time since I have checked ingredients but I remember them being fairly "free". I think you are going to have to work with your own flour mixes. We are running into the same problem being no dairy, no soy, no egg, no this, no that... I believe "Yummy Earth Organics" may fit your list for...
  25. Some of the gluten-free flours will do that to me. I have to be picky. I have to watch soy (which I know is in the pretzels) and bean flours. Personally, I wouldn't automatically blame gluten for any problems. I was sicker with the gluten-free products than I ever have been with gluten (same for the others in our house). We have to be very careful...
