  1. Don't abandon organic just yet... See if your area has a CSA. I get weekly deliveries year round from a local, organic farm. I feed my whole family these fruit/veggies for $50 a week! We often have leftovers. (a normal delivery is in 2 party size coolers) Of course, I get their largest "box" for 5-6 people. The best part is I don't have to go...
  2. Crockpot roast with potatoes, carrots and celery cantaloupe cauliflower/broccoli salad
  3. It sounds like your body is missing healthy oils -- olive oils, avocado, salmon, flax seeds...
  4. For those needing more of a picture I may modify the cat poo/brownie story from a religious moral to a health moral. If you don't know the story, the kids (or in this case bf) are asking why just a little bit won't hurt. You then bring the kids into the kitchen to bake some brownies. You then ask the kids to go to the catbox since you are out of chocolate...
  5. I've been experimenting myself. It wasn't bad when we still had eggs but pulling the eggs made things difficult. I have found that using not 1 but 2 egg subs seems to help. I will use a combo of egg replacer and gelatin in most applications. Be sure and let your gelatin bloom. I know they say either/or but I like both. If you are using rice flour...
  6. Since it is a holiday weekend with everyone home and we don't get to eat out, I'm making my baked corndogs again. I chopped up the hot dogs, added corn and green chile. This gives me another chance to experiment with my hm flour.
  7. Mine homeschool but at church the teachers know that if he asks to go that they need to say "run"! Forget trying to get another adult or buddy, he needs to run.
  8. bbq chicken corn on the cob steamed broccoli
  9. I ordered just a plain, no frills vitalmill. I decided that was going to be cheaper in the long run than buying all the premade flours since the whole family is gluten-free. I'm in the experimenting phase now but we all were impressed with the flavor.
  10. Thanks for the info
  11. I got a grain mill and ground 1/2 white rice and 1/2 brown rice in flour. I then made some corn flour out of popcorn. The kids were able to have "corndogs" for lunch today. Not that I want them to eat that meat all the time but it does take away some of the stress of the 'no" to everything all the time. Next time, I will add some kind of starch...
  12. I really wasn't talking about sources. I wanted safe supplement brands.

    ARCHIVED Ouch!

He isn't very knowledgeable about the kitchen and he is just beginning to see what I am seeing about the relation between wheat and his "rash". I saw his hands while we were eating (his first "rash" since going gluten-free ) and I asked if it was new. He said "yes". I reminded him about eating the corn dog and for the first time I saw the light come on...

    ARCHIVED Ouch!

Hubby is my problem child when staying on the diet. I have made a connection between his rash (DH?!) and gluten. Things were going great but then he grabbed a corn dog (all cornmeal he thought) . Now he has his yucky, oozy (because he scratches) polka dots again. Is there some kind of super easy lists for beginners?? The kind that would say for the...
  15. I'm looking for some new fiber. Need one free of not only wheat related products but also oat.
  16. Great idea!!
  17. My dr put me on a vegan diet for a period of time and I believe this is what triggered my body in all it's bad responses. I too can get heartburn from meat. I eat less meat and lean meats. My alternative dr suggested either apple cider vinegar or digestive enzymes after a meat meal.
  18. Sounds great!! Sometime later in conversation, you may want to suggest a baking mix with rice flour sit a few minutes to absorb the liquid. It makes it less grainy.
  19. I tried my hand at Gluten-free Casein-free pizza. It was a hit.
  20. That looks like what my hubby gets. I've taken it upon myself to diagnose him because the drs have done diddle about it. They just say either Benedryl cream or steroid cream. A cup of coffee works about as good as those. gluten-free and the rash, snoring, and heartburn go away. In my world, that is enough for him to be gluten-free.
  21. Too bad it is a cheese pizza. We order ours w/o cheese too.
  22. Try another brand - without the bean flour. I think my body likes the gluten better than the bean flours.
