Well thank you for your replies. I kinda figured I just got lucky, but it sure made me doubt the necessity of the diet. My stomach did start to hurt, but barely. Yes.... pizza I LOVE pizza! And it was good. But I won't do it again. Although it will be harder for me now since the thing that made sticking to the diet easy was the fear of getting sick...

Ok, I know I shouldn't have done it but I have not cheated once in 6 months and I really really wanted real pizza. Its been 2 hours and I am not sick. I always got sick in around 30 minutes before the diet and in the first few months of trying the diet when I accidentaly ate something I shouldn't have. Was I wrong? Pizza was the one thing that always made...

ARCHIVED Really Good Pasta!
JustMe75 replied to mamasaidso's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tried it too and was very impressed! It didn't get mushy at all. I was very excited to have found it at my regular grocery store (Albertsons) so its convienant too. From what I remember it wasn't too pricey either. We used it to make a chicken soup / ramen type thing. -
ARCHIVED Anybody Shop At Costco?
JustMe75 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found it on their website somewhere, but here is the email address that I have in my email out/inbox. memberservice@costco.com Here is the email I got: Thank you for your email to Costco Wholesale. I am sorry, yet we do not have a listing of gluten free items as ingredients and manufactures are constantly changing. If you wish to inquire if... -

I emailed them and asked for a list and they responded that they do not have a list but if I had questions on specific items they could get me the info. So far I have only asked about the soy milk. -

Thanks for all the great ideas! I am going to try Spaghetti Factory, it is so exciting to me when I find places I can eat. Its like a little bit of normal comes back I eat at Outback all the time and only once think I got glutened. I'll have to try Pei Wei too. Have you eaten at Carinos? They have a gluten free menu online and they are in Mira Loma...

ARCHIVED More Constipation
JustMe75 replied to Nikki2003's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My fifteen year old daughter was having trouble with constipation and she started taking magnesium every night and flaxseed oil 2x a day and she is doing much better. I would think you could mix it up in some juice since she probably can't swallow pills yet. Good luck, its awful when your kids are dealing with that. You feel so helpless. -
I have eaten there twice and had the ginger chicken both times. It is very good. I got mine to go once, which was nice. I called ahead and there is a special parking spot for to go orders. Its about $15 for the chicken, brocoli and rice, but I had enough for lunch and dinner.

ARCHIVED Advice About 12 Year Old
JustMe75 replied to celiacgirls's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Does your daughter think she feels / acts better when she is off gluten? Nobody wants to be angry, sad, or depressed. It is easier to not want to cheat if you can actually see that the diet is doing something. My 15 year old daughter used to be so moody she was unbearable. She wasn't too defiant, but angry, sad, depressed and she didn't know why. She started... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results - Need Help
JustMe75 replied to misulli's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I read this and your other post and I am kinda in the same boat. I didn't do the Entrolab tests but did have negative blood work and double DQ2 also. I decided to try the gluten free diet back in October and it has made such a difference in my life! I can eat and go for a drive after and not be afraid that I won't make it to a bathroom. My husband wasn't... -
ARCHIVED Depressing Teeth Decay Problem
JustMe75 replied to Alternative mama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I thought about that and have an appointment this Thursday for a second opinion. My husband loves his dentist but I stuck with mine since I had been going there for so long. My husband says maybe they are doing bad work since they are mostly re-doing fillings, crowns and bridges. I kinda think I really do need the work they say I do, but I am curious if its... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Testing
JustMe75 replied to debmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Finally I found a post with info on DQ2 homozygosity! I didn't know all those things were associated with it! Scary! I had myself along with my 2 daughters tested. One is DQ2 / DQ5 and myself and the youngest are DQ2 homozygous. I would love to know if she got one from me and one from her dad but we are divorced and dont speak much. The doctor said it... -
ARCHIVED Depressing Teeth Decay Problem
JustMe75 replied to Alternative mama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can't believe how timely this thread is! I went to the dentist Friday and I have 5 new cavities, my crown is leaking and needs replaced and my bridge is leaking and needs replaced! $5900!!!! I have insurance but still have to pay like 20% of it. Last year I had 4 cavities and needed a root canal and I thought, just take care of it and you will be... -
ARCHIVED Gene Testing
JustMe75 replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Me and my two daughters did ours through our doctor for the same reason, insurance paid. We went to local Quest lab and they sent it to a Quest in Virginia. It took and 1-2 weeks for the results. -
ARCHIVED Help With Constipation
JustMe75 replied to JustMe75's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you for the ideas. She eats a lot of veggies and fruit so I know she is getting enough ruffage, and all she drinks is water. I remember hearing about the magnesium before, I will have her try that. Her doctor suggested laxatives or stool softners. I really don't want her to have to use laxatives, the are so uncomfortable. -
My daughters pediatrician wants to check her for diabetes but said that he isn't going to do the 4 hour glucose tolerance test because in people with celiac the results are "flat". I asked him what that meant and he just repeated that the results would be flat and not accurate. He is instead doing a first thing in the morning blood draw to check her sugar...

ARCHIVED Genetic Testing
JustMe75 replied to lizard00's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I, along with my two daughters, had the genetic tests done through our doctors. I think the reason most people don't is because a lot of insurances don't pay for it and it is costly. My insurance did cover it (Aetna US Health) so I decided to go that way since it was no cost to me. Another reason some people don't go that route is because if you have the... -
ARCHIVED Help With Constipation
JustMe75 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My fifteen year old daughter has been dairy free (positive allergy blood test) since November, gluten free since Jan. 1, and a vegetarian (basically a vegan) since mid December. She eats very good since there isn't a whole lot left she can eat that is bad. Well her constipation isn't better. I have only had that problem a few times in my life (mine was the... -

JustMe75 replied to Lisa16's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
tef [Eragrostis tef] (tef grass or teff) Very small black ancient grain of the millet family. Principal grain in Ethiopian bread (Injera), which is described as a soft, porous, thin pancake. According to the Celiac Sprue Association web site it is. I have seen it in gluten-free breads before and it is included as an ok ingredient on those gluten-free... -

ARCHIVED Questions About Labs
JustMe75 replied to JustMe75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
He did the EMA and it was negative. She is trying the diet (1 month so far) and doing better. It doesn't matter if she is celiac or just sensitive if it works. I am just very intrigued by the disease and all that is still not understood about it. -
He actually did catch her randomly and she tried talking him out of it. She said her and her family have numerous food allergies and it would be difficult. He said he loves a challenge. It was funny, he was gonna get yogurt and she said she can't have it cause its dairy. He didn't know it was!
