  1. I use alleve which is gluten free... although I haven't found any Ibprofren that wasn't.
  2. I am Irish/Scottish on my mom's side and German on my dad's side. Although I prefer to say I am American Oh, and I am 5ft 2in. I have naturally strawberry blonde hair, fair skin and green eyes (although they turn blue when I am mad and grey when I am sick) The women in my family start going grey around 35, that's early right?
  3. My youngest will have been gluten free for 2 years as of tomorrow (it's also her 3rd birthday) so we are celebrating with gluten free cake. I am pretty used to checking stuff out, although I did gluten myself Thursday... I was SO mad, I kept thinking "stupid, you know better than that..." but I am over it now. Today however just confuses me... ...
  4. everything was homemade in gluten free dinnerware.......I am so paranoid about CC my girls that someone once called me a "gluten nazi". I think I may just have a cold, although I did just remember that I forgot my soap in my purse today and washed my hands in the bathroom with church soap, maybe it had gluten in it? My hands kinda itch? I think I am...
  5. I know that all my makeup/personal care stuff is gluten-free since my girls have been gluten free so long I read everything everything. Today I had a cup of coffee (gluten free), some gluten free cereal, a salad (lettuce tomatoes, cucumbers, no dressing), some pinto beans and fried potatoes, 4 glasses of water, and a Coke. all of it gluten free.....
  6. I have been gluten free for a full 7 days now (big accomplishment ) and on day 4 I started feeling a little better, days 5 and 6 were great, but here on day 7 I feel like crap. My muscles ache, my sinus problems are back, and my brain doesn't seem to work. I expected a wait of at least a year before feeling 100%, but didn't expect a set back. Now...
  7. I have a small problem with germs (read mild OCD) so I use 3 sponges pink for gluten dishes (that are washed all together in the same sink then the sink washed out before my gluten-free dishes) green for gluten free dishes (green like healthy LOL) and yellow for my counters. I microwave them for 1 min everyday to kill germs (30 seconds if...
  8. When my husband and I were dating I was vegan, I told him that I wasn't a very fun dinner date (since I had to ask about a million questions and then really couldn't ever eat much on the menu anyway) and suggested that we do other things. When we did go out to eat he let me list a few places that had acceptable choices for me and he chose which we would go...
  9. Both of my girls had the projectile vomiting and rashes, and failure to thrive, they were both diagnosed at first with acid reflux, and ezcema (which I went with since I had been diagnosed with those as well) We found out later (after my youngest getting so sick she needed to be tube fed TPN) that we all have celiac disease. I have often wondered if...
  10. I think it's def. worth it to go 100% gluten free. I have been trying to focus on all the foods that are naturally gluten free since I don't like the "gluten free alternative" to a lot of stuff. Fruits, veggies, meats, it's all good. The only thing that's getting me through these first couple of weeks gluten free though is I keep repeating to myself ...
  11. my husband claims that it's more "starchy" and that's why the water is that way, he likes to rinse the noodles after he strains them WOOO HOOO!!!! I found it. Cooked it tonight with Tinkyada elbow noodles and YUM!!! Thanks.
  12. Midel, makes absolutely awesome Arrowroot gluten free Animal crackers, they look taste like "real animal crackers"
  13. you are so kidding me right?! they just make the cheese where you can buy it? omg, I feel stupid.... I heard that the Kraft cheese powder was gluten-free but then I was thinking about the CC issues since it's in the box with poison (gluten noodles) but you can just buy the cheese?! thank you *goes to walmart to look for it*
  14. I know what you are talking about feeling "validated" I never suspected that all the problems I have been having all these years could have been caused by celiac, but I am finding out they could be. I haven't been gluten free for long, but since finding out my blood test was pos. I have been feeling better and better about having celiac. Today I woke...
  15. they really have to scope you to diagnose chrons. The bleeding and stuff is when it gets really bad. The acne and skin problems are secondary, and don't happen to everyone. As far as the Upper GI, they might not have been able to "see crohns" because it affects your large intestine and until it's very bad it doesn't "show up" on xrays or MRI's or any of that...
  16. It means they don't know. They will probably give you meds anyway though. you have to drink this stuff the day before and be on a liquid diet. The stuff you drink "cleans you out" so you will have D all day long. You should take off work for it, you won't feel like leaving the bathroom at all. it will be good for them to go in and have...
  17. Celiac can cause colon cancer too (if I recall). It's no use worrying about something you have no control over, in fact if you have crohns worrying is the worst thing you can do. Take a step back and think about what you actually have control over, think about what you can do to affect change in those areas, and leave the rest to work itself out. (I...
  18. You mentioned that your doctor said you might have Crohn's. My husband has it, and while it's a tough disease, it's not the worst thing in the world that could happen to you. He has been diagnosed for almost 15 years, he leads a semi-normal life. Most people don't even realize he "has it". He works, goes to church, plays softball, goes to college. He leads...
  19. I have anxiety problems, they went away for a while after I got married, but are starting to resurface. My doctor said (not my current one, but the one I had when I was having major problems with it) that it's a combo of your thoughts, and your brain chemicals. He said that my brain was sending the chemicals to my body to make my chest hurt and stuff even...
  20. nope. I taught my girls to say their name, address, phone number, Daddy's name, where he works, the number there, and grandma's name and number. (In case they ever get lost.) When I taught them all that I also taught them to say "I have celiac disease and need a gluten free diet" so if they ever do get into a situation I figure I have them covered (although...
  21. yeah. I told him that I can only handle the bear minimum right now and that's 100% gluten free, so that's what I am doing. I was so proud of myself last night, we went to meet someone at Panera Bread and there was nothing there I could eat, but I didn't want to. I saw the big wall of pastries and breads, and bagels and my first thought was "gross"....
  22. Tinkyada is the BEST pasta ever!!!!!!!!!! (notice I didn't say gluten free, it's just the best ever!!!) anyway, we eat it, hubby couldn't tell the difference and he is "pasta picky" because he isn't gluten free. The kids love it, it doesn't get all mushy like normal "gluten-free" pasta does. I give it an A++
  23. you can gain weight because of celiac?! I have been gaining for no reason the last year or two. Seriously I never had a problem before, I eat the same amount of the same foods, and even started going to the gym, but still I was gaining.. and it was a "puffy" type of weight too, people kept asking me if I was on prednisone or if I had high blood pressure...
  24. I guess I am what you would call eclectic (or is that eccentric?, probably both ) anyway.... in my celiac disease "book" (I have no idea what's playing since my hubby has the car) Neil Diamond Herman's Hermits Phantom of the Opera soundtrack Three Tenors Bare Naked Ladies The Rolling Stones Green Day The Ramones Patsy Cline...
  25. Yep, I think Vincent is right (as always) I am going to eat, get all my cranky's out (yeah, that's what the girls and I call being in a bad mood) and then sit him down and explain that I am going the "one day at a time" route with this and today I can handle gluten and dairy free. I think he will understand if I don't yell at him LOL Okay I am going to...
