  1. I like the baby magic brand for soap. As far as lotion, we use Suave, it's gluten free and works pretty good. My girls are starting to get to where we can use "real shampoo" so I am letting them use my Dove. Ivory (last I checked) is gluten free if you are looking for a bar soap (my kids like to wrap it in a washcloth and make bubbles) Oh, and...
  2. oh, yum! I am starting a cake decorating class in July, so that I can make pretty cakes for my girls birthdays (which are in May and July, so not this year!) here is the one I made for my daughter last year, in case you are wondering, I just piped the doggy (can't say his name) on there with the only tip I had, copied from a pic I "found" on the internet...
  3. yeah, I think that's why people think I am crazy, my doctor says I have OCD, but the meds made me feel high so he said not to take them. I prefer to think I am eccentric.
  4. you know I was reading and thinking, you might (if you are comfortable) go talk to her parents and find out what types of gluten free food she likes and tell them that keeping her healthy is your goal. I like the idea of cooking her dinner, and I guess you really could call the company and find out if the alcohol you guys want is gluten free, but only drink...
  5. AQ= 27 EQ= 29 SQ= 136 that's weird, what does that say about me? when I was taking the SQ test, I kept thinking "who doesn't do that?"
  6. you should get your liver enzymes and your gall bladder checked, sometimes if one of those is unhappy then stuff that isn't supposed to get into your urine does. *I am NOT a doctor, so don't let anything I say freak you out, I have just been sick and well, my whole family has been sick for a LONG time.
  7. I am so glad she is feeling better.
  8. I don't drink, even a little gluten can make a celiac super sick, and even if they don't have symptoms, they can still have damage in their body, that after a while can lead to cancer. Gluten is toxic to a celiac, it's like poison, it's not about whether or not you "feel sick" it's about trying to stay alive, gluten damages our intestines and keeps us...
  9. Bringing different food to a party or to a friends house really isn't that big of a deal. My girls and I do it all the time, usually when people understand that gluten is TOXIC to us, they forgive us for not eating the take out pizza they bought.
  10. I like to take aleve, for my knee and hip pain. It looks to be gluten free and it lasts for 12 hours. I got tired of popping tylenol every 4 hours. *not a sales rep for aleve
  11. meat? It's been a long time since my kids were that age, so I don't remember when they can have meat, but we used to put chicken in a blender and it made this baby food type texture of meat paste, the kids liked it a lot.
  12. geez, I can't believe I glutened myself.... Anyone got a quick fix? (other than be more careful and quit whining? because I have already heard that today)
  13. I ate some potato cakes from Arby's tonight, the website said they were gluten free, and the manager at the restraunt said they had a dedicated fryer for the gluten free stuff (I think she lied) I am so sick, dizzy, headache, muscle cramps, and yeah the big D. the whole time I was eating it hubby kept saying (in this creepy voice) "gluten, gluten...
  14. how do you deal with people who think you are on some "weird diet" by choice, or think you are just a health nut, and how do you stop people from saying things like "oh, I would just die without pasta" without resorting to my comment today "oh, I will die if I eat it, so maybe we shouldn't hang out" sorry bad celiac day. seriously though, how do we...
  15. My kids never could eat oats, or barley cereals (should have tipped me off, but I didn't know about celiac then) they could only eat the rice cereal.
  16. it's usually the whole belly, it almost looks like they swallowed a beach ball. here is a drawing, of a celiac kid, notice the round tummy, that's probably what they were talking about.
  17. I gained weight, someone said it's because your body isn't able to absorb anything so it grabs what it can absorb which is fat, that's why no matter how well I ate, I still gained weight. I couldn't loose it either, because my body thought I was starving. also, my teeth are pretty bad, due to malnourishment (not getting enough vitamins)
  18. seperating the potty training from everything else.... the kid can either make it to the potty or he can't, and if he can't, well, he just can't. Slap some training pants on the kid and relax. Nobody goes to highschool in diapers (unless they are really sick, in which case you wouldn't expect anything less than diapers) so chill out, let the kid figure...
  19. I haven't ever found a Cambell's soup without wheat in it? how did you manage that? I haven't tried any on the gluten free diet since I can't find any without gluten, but I do know that a lot of people have trouble with MSG. I don't think it's got gluten in it, but I have heard both ways. I do know it's hard on a lot of people's stomaches.
  20. oh, how do you ask to read the label without feeling weird. I have a lot of people that say "oh, it's just roast but I put so and so seasoning on it, can you have that?" and I feel bad saying "I don't know can I read the ingredients" I guess it's get brave or get sick? (actually more like get brave or be hungry)
  21. yeah, it's kinda one of those a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square type of things. anyway gluten free should be wheat free in the US (for now, I have heard rumblings otherwise) but wheat free can still have gluten (although I suspect I am repeating and should have read the thred)
  22. I am 24 do I count? just kidding. I would like to see things about "living in the real world gluten free", about how to deal with dinner parties, and such. It seems to be where I run into most of my problems (so far) people invite you over for dinner, they don't know that you have restrictions, how do you explain? should you not say anything? should you...
  23. WHOO HOO!! Sorry, I have been sick for so long, and I am just starting to feel better, so when I read about someone else feeling better then I get all excited for them. Give your mom a big hug, and remember "gluten free's the way to be!" and aren't you glad there is gluten free ice cream me too
  24. okay, so I have to finish up planning for VBS, and my brain fog (while getting better) is still here, how do I get rid of it? I was used to it before, but now that I am feeling better otherwise, it seems to be more annoying. I have been screwing up stuff all day, like at lunch I was getting a refill for my youngest and accidentally poured the juice in...
  25. are you sure that you don't have other food intolerances? it's possible that something else you are eating is bothering you too, like milk or soy, or eggs, or corn. Zelnorm treats symptoms, so you would feel better taking it, but if something is bothering you, it's still going to mess you up, the meds will just cover it up. You might want to go back...
