  2. my husband talked me into it, because I have been sick for so long, I hadn't even really been gluten free a week, but he said that the SCD would help me heal faster. I don't think I can do it. I am toying with the idea of doing gluten/dairy free until I feel better, but I don't think he will be to happy with me, he feels like that is going "halfway...
  3. I don't really even cry much, but here I am in tears. I can't go anywhere I don't have the car. My kids are sitting here eating gluten free cereal and I can smell it... it's smells so good. I am so depressed. what if I give up though? on the first day? and have a slice of gluten free corn bread with peanut butter? I feel like a failure.

I agree with Karen on the Folic acid, also start taking a good multi-vitamin now, you don't know what you are going to be able to eat when you get pregnant (morning sickness, which btw doesn't alway come in the morning) so you will want to start out as healthy as possible.   6. I called and she said my IGa and IGg were high, and but that she didn't think I "had it" because I hadn't lost very much weight. I have decided she doesn't know anything. Anyway, hubby talked me into going on the SCD diet... I have no idea how he did it, but I am going to try that for a while and see what happens.

I had the same symptoms last year and they said it was my gallbladder, they checked it out and it was full of stones so they removed it, I was fine for about 6 months, then all the stuff came back. I have been gluten free for 3 days now, so I really don't know if that's going to fix it.... anyway, you might have them check out your gallbladder just...

I used the "Cause you're special" chocolate cake mix in a Wilton pan last year and it turned out fine, I did have to add some xathan gum, but I don't remember how much someone on here told me that trick and said how much and all that, but I don't know where to begin to find it.....   12. We usually only go to restruants that have a "gluten free menu", like Outback. However, since the whole Mc Donald's thing, I am pretty afraid of the gluten free menus on principle. I would ask the manager, most of the time they know a lot more than you give them credit for.
  13. gluten free cereal bars were a big hit with my youngest when she got diagnosed at 12mo, also gluten-free animal crackers (mi-del) and lots of fresh fruit and steamed veggies.

  15. I would suggest only feeding him gluten when you can't "gluten free" the meal, and getting your own set of gluten free cookware. My girls have their own toaster and everything.   16. the local gryo place has gluten free meat (they let me physically read all the seasonings they use), but it's the local place and they may have a slightly different recipe. I would just ask next time if you can see what they use to cook it, most of the time they will let you see if you explain that it's for health purposes. I do know that the cucumber...
  17. I would say NO GLUTEN! I read somewhere (I have no clue if it's true) that there is enough gluten in 1/48th of a slice of bread to do severe damage to a celiac patients intestines, so I go with the "100% absolutely no gluten at all anywhere near my kid" rule. Gluten is toxic to your kid, even a little bit is still super bad.
  18. My kids have bright neon stickers on them and their bags, and stuff that say "DO NOT FEED ME ANYTHING" that way I can triple check anything that passes their little lips. Also, it's pretty much a given around my church "DON'T FEED JOEY'S KIDS ANYTHING" most people don't really know why, but they know not to feed them LOL

  21. when I am sick my doctor says to not eat until 1 hour after I have puked, then go on the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast) when my girls have been sick we replaced the toast with Van's waffles.   22. my daughter almost died, if she hadn't been diagnosed in time she would have, she dropped 50% of her body weight in less than a month, at a year old she weighed less than she did when she was born. The doctors thought that we had caught it too late, they thought they were going to send her home to die.
  23. shortly after my daughter was diagnosed she was on TPN tube feeding, she tolerated it well, if i remember correctly she was on it like 20 hours a day. She only had to do it for 2 weeks, then she was healthy enough to eat. We did a lot of pediasure at the begining. It did take a full 6 months for her to regain her weight though.
