  1. nora, Hey. I am so sorry. How frustrating. As a kid I was dismissed by drs, even though I threw up, had bile diahrea, terrible acid reflux, and joint pain. They told my mom I had an ulcer and growing pains. I was NEVER tested for anything, even after I threw up blood once. At 15 I was much better(never got treated for anything though) but still could...
  2. for the celiac panel tests to be most accurate you need to be on gluten
  3. Hey Linda, In my case of DQ2.2 there is ONLY one variation so I already know the alpha part of the gene. I looked my gene DQB0202 up on Wikipedia, there is only one variation and there is the alpha and beta info for me. The other genes have way more variations. DQ2 does not for some reason. Only 3 and the beta parts are all different. For me I want...
  4. Raynaud's syndrome is linked to Lupus. Have you been tested for that?
  5. hi, I noticed this because right now my mom is on prednisone for joint and muscle pain. I wish I was there. They have tested her for things. Today she got more blood drawn. It upsets me that this is the 3rd time in a few weeks and she has not even mentioned that her daughter is gluten intolerant. She promised me that if nothing turns up with this round...
  6. I never got bloodwork or biopsy. I had been on a mainly wheat free diet for years. I went gluten free before I ever knew much about celiac or testing. I did know I was NOT EVER going back on gluten for a long enough time for testing. so I did Enterolab. My genes are DQ2.2 and DQ5. My DQ2.2 gene is a half celiac gene. The beta part is 0202. It is...
  7. you originally posted this before I was on this board. Each DQ number has variations within that number. So there are several variations of DQ7. SOME of those variations are HALF of the full celiac gene DQ2. So your daughter may have half of the gene. I have half of the celiac gene and DQ5 too. I am definately gluten intolerant and have been...
  8. hey, there is some slight genetic differences in the genes even of the same DQ, but I don't know how becuase I have not looked into that. In an alternate version of myself I am a scientist. But in this version I just get to google. I use wikipedia alot because their tables are easy to read and their info is well organized. Open Original Shared Link...
  9. Linda, No, your DQ6 gene is not one of the ones linked with Lyme arthritis Thanks for asking about the kids. Right now they are fine. My DD is okay with the gluten-free diet now. She accidentally ate some one day and the very next day had a sore in her mouth. She has been allergy tested for wheat, soy, dairy, egg... which were all negative. She said...
  10. wow, there is so much covered here, I can't take it all in now. Rachel, Thanks for your concern. I am definately wanting to get my son tested for Lyme. I wish I had had him tested for Lyme before, but at the time his leg pain was only at night and at growth plates. It was not regularly occuring. Now he has had pain in the daytime sometimes, in his...
  11. why did you get tested in the first place?
  12. hey, I did not know I had a problem with dairy until I had cut it out mostly, then I noticed it. The symptoms from dairy I have are only digestive, but I had tiny amounts accidentally twice with no problems. I would like to try it again in a few months. It has been 3 months without any except those two bits. I miss it and would love to have a little...
  13. particular HLA types seem to predispose for MG (B8 and DR3 with DR1 more specific for ocular myasthenia) good to know...my dd is DQ1 subtype 6(DR1) and DQ5(some of the DQ5 genes are DR1). She got the DQ6 from her dad and the DQ5(ours is a DR1, some are not) from me. She has no symptoms, but her twin brother has a couple of the symptoms. In fact we are...
  14. hi, HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0302 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0302 Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 3,3 (Subtype 8,8) DQ3 is split into 3 subtypes: 7,8,9 DQ3 subtpe 8 is Dq 8 the celiac gene. DQ3 subtype 7 or 9 are gluten intolerant genes. Since he has two copies of the same celiac gene he has an even higher risk...
  15. hi Linda, According to Enterolab, all genes except DQ4 are linked with gluten intolerance. And DQ2.5 and DQ8 are celiac genes. No other research I have seen supports this entirely, but bits and pieces of research support this but have not been accepted by mainstream medical people. This is because it represents such a very very small number of...
  16. hi. my mind symptoms included gazing off into space, things appearing further then they really were...as if my eyes were sunk further into my head, things got fuzzy like I was stoned( which I don't drink, do drugs, etc..too sick for that), I would have to think so hard for the right word to say, my thoughts slowed WAY down..I could barely think, I got lightheaded...
  17. Linda, Hi, I have done tons of research on genes and gluten. You state you are double DQB1, but according to your signature with your test results you are not. The B1 part you are refering to means Beta, meaning the Beta part of the gene. The gene also has an Alpha part, but enterolab does not test for that. You have DQ 1 subtype 6(also known as...
  18. I worked in the fine arts department of the library as a teenager for two years. I loved it and it was my favorite job ever. In my heart I am a librarian. My mom is one and works in a high school library/media center. She calls herself a media specialist cause she works with books, computers, AV equipment. I love YA books too!
  19. Thank you everyone for positive thoughts. It is very stressful. My heart broke watching the trees torch earlier in the week, but luckily that was the worst day. It is unnerving being able to watch it from the yard. We are leaving in 9 days for a vacation to meet my family further south. It is stressful thinking about leaving. We already are pretty...
  20. your son has 2 Celiac genes. I would definately try the diet. I went through enterolab after going off gluten(didn't know I should test first). They were positive and the diet has helped.
  21. I avoid all the alternative grains. One of my caregivers advised it. I eat corn and rice. I did eat some bread with millet the other week and my shoulder hurt. I will try it again someday, but may just not handle grains real well.
  22. Please pray for us, all of us here in northern california. Please pray the fires will go out and that more will not start. These fires were started by dry lightning, a rare occurance in June. The forecast calls for more this weekend. Super scary. We are in a huge drought, plus we don't get rain here for several months in the summer normally. ...
  23. I got way more sensitive after going gluten free. Even to green tea. I use to drink some caffeine every day. I had to give it up. Now I can have a little green tea when I need a boost in the morning after food.
  24. I threw up as a kid at night, all night long. It happened about once a month for years. I never got properly cared for. The doctors said I had an ulcer without even running tests on me.
