fedora replied to fedora's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
gfpaperdoll, she got the DQ5 gene from me. I also have the DQ2.2 gene also though. I definately have severe mood symptoms from gluten. That is her biggest symptom. Someone on here with refractory sprue has double DQ5. I had her IGA levels checked about a month or so ago. They told me they were in the normal range, but I am rechecking the... -

ARCHIVED Throughly Confused Now
fedora posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My DD's test results just came back from enterolab. Fecal Antigliadin IgA 9 (Normal Range <10 Units) Her tTg, casein and malabsorption were all fine. So she has the highest number posible for normal. Their response was that she could eat gluten and retest later, go off gluten for prevention, or go off gluten if she has symptoms. Her symptoms... -
Do you have the results? Did they tell you what genes you do have. You can have celiac with genes other than the main two. These genes were found in 6% of celiacs in one study. DQ2.2(4%) and DQ7(2%) and DQ5(.5%).

False negatives happen in adults too. I have exzama. It is definately linked to wheat for me. I had to figure that out on my own. -

Have you never been on a gluten free diet? Did they not recommend that when you were diagnosed with DH? Glad you are feeling better. You definately have gluten and casein intolerance. You also have antibodies against your own tissue present. You have no malabsorption of fat according to their test. You have neither of the two main celiac genes... -
ARCHIVED Muscle/joint Pain After 6 Years Gluten Free
fedora replied to frec's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, I am sorry. I have been posting about my pain too, but yours is worse. I have eliminated nightshades, soy, and corn for now except for a couple of mistakes with tomatoes and corn. I am doing better but my pain ebbs and flows anyways. It never goes away though. I have started working my weak upper body too which helps. I know how frustrating it... -

ARCHIVED Parenting 101 Questions?
fedora replied to okgrace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I live in the country and when the fruit crops come in, everyone gets D. Just a suggestion, but maybe too much fruit? More dense vegetables may be good. I have used a homeopathic remedy for D before that helped. (I didn't get D much from celiac as an adult) good luck -
I am so sorry. That is awful for you. I don't know what that is like. Everyone has been so understanding for me. I don't know the right thing to do, but I know what I would do. I would curse and say if you don't stop with these cruel behaviors, I will no longer eat lunch, etc. with you. I love you, but I will not tolerate being treated like this....

I just found out I have a external yeast infection. I can give up yeast, vinegar, fungi not problem. But fruit? It is about to be summer!!! I can't live without bannanas. When I get sick it is the only thing I can eat. Are there any foods, supplements that can kill candida? I would be interested in that. Thanks.

ARCHIVED 1 1/2 Weeks Gluten Free New Symptoms
fedora replied to MPARANA's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was constantly hungry the first couple of weeks, ate alot, and lost weight. For me I was finally absorbing more nutrients and I wasn't constipated anymore. Sorry you have C now. Your symptoms may continue to change. I occasionally get indigestion and D more easily. I agree with Rice Guy that some supplements may be needed for awhile. I also... -

ARCHIVED Parenting 101 Questions?
fedora replied to okgrace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
gross guestion here....is any food coming out undigested? Some of the food, fiber, isn't digested normally. But when I have food that comes out whole, I know that I should be getting more from it. Some people can't tolerated rice and some can't tolerate corn. Good luck. That must be awful for her. Keep her hydrated. -
ARCHIVED My Blood Pressure Went Up!
fedora replied to fedora's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
RWG, spinning is so scary. I get so lightheaded when I stand up quickly, but have noticed how much less it is happening. I got a virus once and when I woke up that night, the room was spinning uncontrollable. If I laid perfectly still it would stop, but any movement made the room spin. Horrible. Luckily it passed by the next morning. But ever since... -
ARCHIVED My Blood Pressure Went Up!
fedora posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I wasn't sure where to post this. For years my BP has been at 90/60. Before that it was about 104/70 ish. It got down to 88/58 less than 2 years ago. In March it was 90/62. Today it was 106/70. Wow. It hasn't been this in 5 years. So that is good. I have symptoms from low blood pressure although not constantly. They have gotten less frequent. ... -

OBXMom Thank is great that your malabsorption was fine. Mine was too. I was gluten and casein intolerant. I also had ttg antibodies against my own tissue. This is how the auto immune damage is done. Has their dad been checked? They had to have gotten the celiac gene from him. I am awaiting my DD enterolab results. I am officially impatient today... -

tipnpat, You HLA-DQB1 0201 is the celiac gene DQ2.5 Your other gene is not associated with gluten intolerance at all. One gene is enough though. Did you have other tests done too? Crimson, I am a naturally remedy type of girl too. I also do not like going to the dr. I always leave frustrated and/or mad. I also question when I should go or not.... -
ARCHIVED Can Avoidance Cause Ige Sensitivity To Foods?
fedora replied to mags's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This article pissed me off. I feel so sorry for the girl and her family mostly. The girl tested positive for milk protein allergies- an IgE reaction at three and was not taken off dairy until 11?????? Why? Although she had no "systematic reaction" she had eczema. Then after going off dairy her reactions get worse. Although some people outgrow IgE allergies... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
fedora replied to Crimson's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Crimson, Although you do not have a WHOLE celiac gene, your two genes come together to form the celiac gene. The beta part of the DQ2.2 gene is the same as the beta part in the celiac gene DQ2.5. The DQ7 gene you have is the same as the alpha part in the celiac gene DQ2.5. Enterolab doesn't tell people this, but it is true. I just don't think it is... -

hi, Your daughter has the celiac gene DQ2. This is also known as DQ2.5. It is HLA - DQB1, Allele 1 0201 It can cause full blown celiac. She must have got this from her dad. The other gene is DQ2.2. It is HLA-DQB1, Allele 2, 202. I has half of the celiac gene DQ2. It is definately a gluten intolerant gene and in some instances it can cause full...
