  1. Bakingbarb, Hi, I understand your dilemmas. My daughter is 7, but is also a independent thinker. We have been talking about her and her twin brother going gluten free. Her blood test for tTg came back negative. I was frustrated they didn't even check anti-gliadin or anti-ema. Until she has proof she says she doesn't want to go gluten free. At home...
  2. miche, my ribs on my left side go out of place, my spine curves , and my left shoulder goes out. It has been happening since I was 20, now I am 32. I absolutely now it is connected to gluten. I do not know how much or if anything else is involved yet. I HAVE to go to the chiropractor. I have been in pain for so long. I know some physical therapy but...
  3. I was very sick as a child. I had all the same symptoms your daughter has. No one found anything wrong. Even now I am mad that they would send home a sick child and my mom gets defensive. It took me 15 years to figure out wheat was bad. It took me 22 years to finally figure out it was all gluten. Good luck. Healing can take a little while. But if...
  4. As a kid I vomitted so much. Also the big D. No one could figure out what was wrong with me. I vomited so much that as an adult I NEVER vomit. My body is so over it. At least that is what I think
  5. hi, I have been to those links, but just a little. I will check them out more. Thanks
  6. Oh my gosh, curly fries, Me too! I went off gluten first just to see the difference. Then I cut out dairy alot. When I ate cheese it totally stopped traffic. But when I had ice cream or butter, the water slide is open for business. My grandmother said "Cheese binds you up" Now that I am gluten-free/cf my intestines have to totally adjust....
  7. HI, Her absorption is normal now that does not mean it will stay that way. If she is gluten intolerant then enough damage may not have occured yet. I would not wait untill it does. There is celiac blood tests. It doesn't sound like she has this yet. Drs. will run it if you insist. anti-glidian IgA and IgG anti-transglutiminase IgA anti-EMA IgA...
  8. nora, I have the DQ1, 5(D5). I have definite neurological symptoms. My mood, vision, speech, and thinking are all effected. I have also many other symptoms. I use to have "spells" which were awful. I would not be able to think, would have to think very hard about what I was saying, and things would look further away then they really were. Sometimes...
  9. After 2 weeks we finally got the blood test back on my daughter. I had printed out the sheet from Quest's website with the info on the celiac panel when we had first gone in. She said that was the test they always ordered. Great. So we went in this week. The test was negative. When I looked at it, they had only run the anti-tTg IgA test. They did not...
  10. Can you be more specific on the IgA test? Is it total IgA, anti-gliadin IgA, anti-tTg IgA? Without this info it is hard to figure out what you mean. An IgE reaction is a traditional allergy reaction. You can be negative with an IgE reaction and still have Celiac. Celiac is an intolerance. Different antibodies are involved. I do not know what PAB is...
  11. Good job with the links. I could have done that too, will have to think of that when my brain is not so crammed with junk. your two bottom links are in German? The first link is the same study I commented on. mlo-online.com january 2006 has a pdf that was very helpful and clear explaining the genes and the combining of genes. So I do not know...
  12. Hi nora, There are two types of DQ2 genes: DQ2.5 and DQ2.2 DQ2.5 is known as the Celiac gene. It is DQ A0501 B0201. People call this the DQ 2 gene. When gene testing was done through blood work only, the two DQ genes showed up the same. But when they began to look at it molecularly, they saw there are actually three subtypes. DQ2.3 is very rare...
  13. Susie, Thank you for your response. Your words were sweet and caring. I am sorry. Usually I check my posts to see if anyone replied to my questions. Hopefully you will come back and read this. I looked up melanoma and celiac and read about the connection. The doctor did tell me with my family history I need to get checked every year. Plus I am...
  14. hi, you are not alone with this. I am sorry. Clean out your house completely of wooden utensils, wooden chopping boards, cast iron, and nonstick pans, plastic colanders. Check all your beauty products-makeup, conditioner, moisterizer, lipstick. Browse through here and find the starter list...it's here somewhere. Find the names gluten can hide under....
  15. It is unclear to me, Is your daughter having more issues than just not sleeping well. Please realize that 3 months really is not that long. she may still be recovering. I really respect a mother's intuition, if you feel something else is wrong, it very well may be. But she could still be recovering. I hope nothing else is wrong with her and she will...
  16. Blood tests can give false negatives. I do not know what your dr. will want to do. You could insist on a biopsy, but that may show nothing. Or you could go glutten free and see if that helps. I would try the diet after the biopsy if you decide to do that. I knew withing the first few days that gluten was definately problem. I went through a readjustment...
  17. You have both celiac genes and improved on the diet. I would get the promethesus lab results. I would go on the gluten free diet. Stick with it for longer than 3 months. For you kids, My daughter has no GI problems, but also has terrible mouth sores. Three kinds. She also stopped growing. Based on me saying I was gluten intolerant( I am not diagnosed...
  18. I've read, someone correct me if I am wrong, that celiacs are more likely to be IgA deficient. If your child gets total Iga serum tests done, and it comes back negative, then they check the IgG levels. I would definately check on this one Also did they run the anti-EMA test?
  19. hi, I would love to find out more. I didn't know about this at all till this week. I go out of place all the time. My knee, my shoulder, my jaw, my neck, my spine, and my ribs. How do I find out if I have this? I would appreciate any info. I am not double jointed. Thank you,

    ARCHIVED At A Loss

Hello everyone, Thank you. I gave up coffee already and went to green tea, but I think caffeine may not be good for me cause I start feeling bad while drinking it. I eat whole grain long rice. The rice turning to sugar quickly may be bad for me. I also wasn't digesting all the rice. Is that normal? The skin just came out the exact same. sorry TMI...

    ARCHIVED At A Loss

The little meat I eat is a mixture of personal choice and my ability to digest it. It has been so long since I ate beef or pork I find the though revolting. At 10 the first time I got horribly ill was after eating pork. No one else got sick either. When I started to feel better at 13 I had given up all meet cause I didn't want to eat animals. I ate meat...
  22. I am on a very basic diet to try to help with joint and muscle pain. Just fruit, fish, veggies, and rice. Now I am going off the rice. I have been off gluten for 2.5 months) I am not getting better, but it hasn't been that long. I am eating no corn, sweeteners, nightshades, soy, dairy, gluten, legumes, nuts. I was pain free for about 6 weeks, it was...
  23. hi, I just got my daughter tested. She just turned 7. She has the celiac mouth sores, stopped growing, and has gotten cranky and sensitive. Regardless of what her test says, I am giving the gluten free diet a chance. My daughter can't type, but it might be reassuring for them to know there is another little girl going through it too. My daughter goes...
  24. leelee20, I am so sorry that you have continued to have problems. Have they been continuous through out your life? Your parents must have seen much improvement to have kept you off gluten. If now you are worse eating it, I would not. It doesn't matter if it is extreme celiac or just horrible gluten intolerance. I don't see why everyone with a soy...
  25. No, I have not heard. That was Tuesday. The lab tech at the clinic said they would get the results on wednesday or thursday. I left a message yesterday afternoon. Then I called this morning because no one had called me yet. No news. The lady at the desk was not interested in what I had to say. She said it usually takes a week. Which was fine the first...
