ARCHIVED Negative Genetic Test After Eighteen Years?
fedora replied to leelee20's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
leelee20, Why were you getting more tests done? Apparantly you have some other health issues. What were they before you started eating gluten again? Maybe you can't eat soy. There are scientifically documented cases of people having celiac disease without the 2 main genes, DQ2 and DQ8. This percentage is small, but real. It irratates me that big... -
ARCHIVED How Long For The Gluten Reaction To Show Up?
fedora replied to MELINE's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
HI, I would like to add something about the chest pain. I had a horrible one last night, but mine is not reflux. Though I believe for many it is. I have skeletal issues. My bones go out of place all the time. I joke that I wish I was married to a chiropractor. I do believe this is glutten intolarant related. When I get my terrible chest pains, it... -
ARCHIVED Mental/neuro Symptoms
fedora replied to Rpm999's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
hi, I wanted to let you know you are not alone. Although people may have varying neuro/mental symptoms, they do occur and are real. It could be antibodies attacking the nervous system, or vitamin or mineral deficiency. In my life (but not all at once or every day)I have had severe PMS, mild bipolar behavior, depression, getting stoned out of nowhere,... -
ARCHIVED Are There "mental" Symptoms Of Celiac?
fedora replied to horsesjapan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
weird, I thought I posted on here, but it did not show up. I have many mental symptoms(I'll spare you all the details), some have completely gone away!!!!!!! Instantly. Some have seriously improved. I haven't had PMS mood symptoms either. I would have totally blamed that on hormones, not gluten. But it is true. I don't even bloat up before my period... -
ARCHIVED Quest Forgot To Run Celiac Panel On Dd's Blood
fedora posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Last wednesday, my daughter had blood drawn. They said the results would be in Friday or Monday. I waited very patiently. Today I called the clinic. The Dr. called me back and said everything came back normal. I was like oh. He said the large food allergy panel came back negative. It was the RAST test. Which is great. I asked about the thyroid, kidney... -
No, he hasn't. They told me on the phone that he had been spending more time on speaking and getting the word out about food intolerances. They said he was planning on having it submitted at the end of the year.

ARCHIVED It's A Pain, But Not The End Of The World...
fedora replied to mrsry's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wonka, Wow. You have triplets. I had a 3 year old and twin newborns, not triplets, but alot going on. No one made the too many kids already in the world comment, but we got called a herd. Now lots of the families we know have 3 kids. We were trendsetters around here. -
I checked out that link "the immune changes in celiac disease are unlikely to play a role in Alzheimer's disease. In control groups none was positive for anti-endomysium antibodies." FINALLY some good news
-
yes, that makes perfect sense. I have so much anxiety, depression, mood swings etc. Now that I am off gluten I feel kind of stale. No mood swings with their low lows and terrific highs. But that is fine by me!!! I am glad some have found relief like me. I hope it helps my daughter too.

ARCHIVED I Think I Was Cc'd
fedora replied to nikky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What did you eat from the party bag? You said they were individually wrapped. I got sick from hershey's kisses at valentines. They are supposedly gluten free. It was really bad. -
ARCHIVED Head Twitches
fedora replied to Mr. Peppa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I live in a area with a unusually high amount of pot smokers. I have seen teenagers, pregnant women, nursing women, adults and seniors smoking. I have heard, but never seen, of kids smoking here. I have never heard of anyone starting to bob or shake from pot. Some people do get amped up from it. It is more of an upper than a downer for some. No bobbing... -
ARCHIVED Not Feelin Well
fedora replied to gretchen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ditto what Cruel shoes said. No old cast irons, non stick pans, wood spoons, cutting boards, plastic. These should all be new( reasoned my cast iron though). Eating out is dangerous. I would encourage him to take his lunch. Some of my gluten free friends react to all vinegar, even apple cider. Not me though. Has he introduced a new food or one... -
ARCHIVED It's A Pain, But Not The End Of The World...
fedora replied to mrsry's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nothing this extreme has happened over gluten. I get just a That sucks. But when I explain I feel better, they are glad for me. They could have just said the pies were good there. What this really reminded me of was when I had twins 7 years ago. Most people thought they were adorable, but some jerk would say things like "ouch" or "I would have run... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Done Testing Through Enterolab?
fedora replied to ShayBraMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had 39 on anti gliadin and 18 on transglutaminase. I had been gluten free for 3.5 weeks and on a restricted wheat diet for years. -
hi, The almond mild is blue diamond. some of the nuts are blue diamond. The other nuts are organic from the natural food stores. They are just plain almonds. I don't think they were cced. I have never heard of nuts being sprayed with wheat starch. That's crazy. How would I know?

ARCHIVED Negative Enterolab Results, But Still Celiac?
fedora replied to elye's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
hi, My tests were positive thru enterolab. I would have been confused if they had not been. They were very friendly and helpful when I called. Personally, I would call. EVERYONE makes mistakes. I would say, I DO have a problem with gluten. I think your tests may have messed up on my sample. Would you be willing to redo this? If they are hesitant... -
I may be unable to eat almonds. I have been doing very well off gluten. I also went off dairy. While on gluten I had bad left shoulder pain, neck pain,TMJ-left jaw, and left knee problems. They went 95% away!!!! Truly a miracle. A week and a half ago I introduced almonds into my diet. Nuts and milk. A few days later my joint pain came back for a...

I had cut back on dairy alot. But now I get real sick, even with butter. I will spare you the terrible details, but it was the sickest I have been in years.

I was at the grocery store and the gluten free cookies were on sale. I bought 8 boxes!!! I don't binge on them, just when I absolutely need a treat they are there. I keep a box in the car. I had to get one out during the kid's akido pizza party. I had one today while the kids were eating Easter candy from school. I also have wonderful gluten free chocolate...

hey, Has anyone else noticed a correlation between gluten intolerance, being gluttened and nightmares. I just started thinking about this the other day. My DD gets nightmares and has some other symptoms of gluten intolerance. We are awaiting test results. I Have had nightmares on and off my whole life. Thinking back on it, I had more during times of...

ARCHIVED Desperately Seeking Opinions And Advice
fedora replied to GhostLady's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We are rooting for you. I agree with cruel shoes, post your results up here when you get them. Make sure you get what the normal ranges of the tests were. also see if they tested for your Total IgA levels. Many people don't score high on their bloodtests but still have positive biopsies. I was already gluten free when I read up on all the tests. There... -
ARCHIVED Got A Laugh Out Of This Analogy
fedora replied to fedora's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow, what a great response. I was originally laughing at the 4 horsemen, but really appreciate the wonderful feedback on animals. I pictured these grusome Middle Earth evil creatures riding in with gigantic shafts of wheat or corn in hand or strapped to their back. All to reek havoc. My dog is 11 and in pretty good health except some aging. We have... -
I read this entertaining informative article(ok, parts of it) on allergies in pets by this vet. His name is Dogtor J, Dr. John Symes. He is a celiac. "The other

ARCHIVED Taking Daughter In For Blood Work Tomorrow
fedora replied to fedora's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for replying. I took my daughter today. She really wanted to go. I would have been fine just taking her off gluten. We do have a very supportive community with lots of awareness of gluten intolerance. She insisted(at 7) to get checked out. I am really rather proud of her. Miracuously, it went better than expected. The dr. we saw was okay...
