ARCHIVED Introducing Myself, After 4 Years Of Fighting, I Can Now Say
fedora replied to Breila's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As a mother, I competely understand your frustration. I KNEW my daughter had Lyme disease before testing(my Bro-in-Law said it was probably a spider bite), and that my kids had whopping cough and were misdiagnosed by the doctor. My daughter had a huge growth delay this year(she was already small) and people say that is fine. And maybe she is just naturally... -
I am sorry you have it. That is such a long time to go untreated. I know my family is full of celiac symptoms, not just me. Is there anywhere on here where you and others wrote down the order of your symptoms? That would be helpful. Also, did you ever have a time where symptoms went away mostly for years? I have read on websites, but know those aren...

Carla, I came back and read that!!!!! How wonderful and crazy!!! They had financal reasons for dismissing information. Yuck. I got emotional reading this. I know several people with chronic Lyme disease in my community. This is such great news for patients and doctors. I'll be honest....I don't want it, so maybe I am in denial. But if I have...

Rachel, Thanks for your concern. I do have symptoms for sure. I have talked to my dr. about getting tested. Since I pay for all my medical care up to a very high deductable, I am doing what I can on my own and then going in with a list of unresolved issues. But my shoulder pain did get resolved a lot when I went off gluten. As did alot of my problems...

Thanks, Carla, I understand how you feel. I will heavily consider that. They were all tiny tiny ticks. Scary stuff. Plus I know she got the lyme bacteria the first time on our land That makes me sad, because my children and this land are my heart. I have to keep my fears in check are we would be on antibiotics constantly. My daughter was...

hi, so my daughter was treated with 3 weeks of antibiotics against Lyme's bacteria in spring 2002. We caught it right away. She was only one, got bit, and got the bull's eye rash. Would the antibodies still be present now? She tested positive through Quest labs in California. On Sunday she got bit by 4 tiny ticks!!!!! so what I am wondering if she...

Hi, Thanks everyone. I still am working on this issue. But I have considered EVERYTHING mentioned. I had to quit the full elimination diet after a week. I was getting worse. hmm. Things ebb and flow for me. I am diligent about me calcium, mag, vit d., iron, and vitamin Bs, especially B-12 I take no chemical medicines(even though I would be in less...

I am also in pain. I found the elimination diet overwhelming. I am trying to eliminate one thing at a time, but then succumb. Pizza use to be my favorite food. I can't have gluten or dairy...wouldn't be suprised if tomotoes came next(please, please, please no!!!) My insurance won't cover anything until I reach a high deductable. So I am trying to figure...

Hi, I am wondering about thistoo. I was about to post about it. I have had back, neck, and shoulder problems since 20. I am now 32. I have spent tons of money at the chiropractor and would be crippled without them. My PT says I have muscular caused scoliosis. My spine curve, ribs go out, and left shoulder goes out of place. I have had TMJ since childhood... -
ARCHIVED Can Symptoms Come And Go?
fedora replied to horsesjapan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
yes!!!!symptoms can flucuate. If I had known then what I know now I could have been diagnosed properly 4 1/2 years earlier. My doctor brought up celiac, but at the time I was feeling better, so I didn't get tested. Some people have no symptoms at all!!! -
hi Truthseeker. I haven't been tested for Lyme's, but I caught my DD's when she first got it. Very lucky. About your daughter, I would also get hungry in a moment's notice. If I didn't eat within minutes I would get too hungry to eat and feel so ill. The ONLY thing I could eat when I got to that point was banannas. Canned pears too. When I went...

ARCHIVED Blood Tests
fedora replied to chasing4's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I have twins too, they are a 7 year old boy and girl. They both have symptoms, though different from each other. The medical recommendation is you do get them all the blood test. It may come back negative, but they could still be gluten sensitive too. sometimes people with no symptoms have positive blood tests. The main thing is even if at home... -
ARCHIVED Is It Possible
fedora replied to mcs1984's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It does effect mood and behavior in me and I am convinced in my 7 yr old daughter. The scary thing is how much I blamed it on my hormones(PMS etc). It has stablized about 95% since being off gluten. So not only does it effect my mood and behavior, but my hormone levels too. scary. -
ARCHIVED Details On Iga Results
fedora replied to strawberrygm's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It looks like they ran the anti-tTg IGA antibody test. It was negative. Because it was negative they did not run the anti-EMA IGA antibody tests. I do not see anything about the anti-gliadin IGA antibody blood test in here. This is what happened to my daughter too. They only ran the anti-tTg IGA test. When it came back negative, the lab did not... -

ARCHIVED What Other Foods To Avoid?
fedora replied to scottyfeelsick's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
hi, I am sorry for your frustration. I have been there too. I attempted the elimination diet, but could not stay on it for more than a week. I was eating lots of whole long grain rice. What I discovered is if I eat too much, I get sick. I am totally fine with just a normal amount. Over doing a food can cause problems that wouldn't happen eating a mixed... -
ARCHIVED Blood Vs Stool Antibody Test?
fedora replied to hill5384's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know it is hard to be patient. Hopefully your blood tests will help you. I also recommend the metabolic blood work if you haven't had it, just to rule out anything else. And check for vitamin mineral deficiencies. I used enterolab, never had the bloodwork since I was already gluten free. I found it very helpful. I would have stayed gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Weird Symptom Questions
fedora replied to WhimsiKay's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
hi, About your urine, if it does not go back to normal, you may want to get your blood sugars checked. That was my friend's first signs of diabetes. He got really thirsty, was drinking tons of water, but his urine was still very yellow and thick. He went to the dr. and found out he was diabetic. Not to scare you. I think we ( including me) have... -

hi, enterolab's genetic testing is definately reputable. I did mine through them and they sent it to Red Cross. so I know it is true. Lots of people have done enterolab testing and feel it is accurate. I did, since I was already gluten free and there was no way in Hades I was going to eat it again for bloodwork, etc. The DQ3,2 gene is the DQ8... -
ARCHIVED Test Results
fedora replied to up-late's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
hi, you have the main celiac gene that most tested celiacs have. The short name is DQ2(also known as DQ2.5). Heterozygous for the DRB1*03-DQA1*05-DQB1*02 haplotype, which is consitent with the DQ2 phenotype. DRB1*03-DQA1*05-DQB1*02 haplotype- That is the gene. The heterozygous means you have one copy of the gene, not two. You only need one copy... -
ugh. I would tell them they either respect my decisions concerning my kids or I would feel unsafe bringing them there. Lots of people think I am crazy and I do not care. However, my family and hubby's family has been supportive even though they haven't looked into it for themselves(where did I get it from then?) I didn't ever complain to hubby's family...

ARCHIVED Bad Weekend
fedora replied to mcs1984's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
hi, I am sorry. You aren't alone. We are having issues with my DD's behavior too. She is so much better at school. I think it is because of the different setting, they respond differently. Also my DD eats almost no gluten in her lunch. Mostly at dinner and somethimes breakfast. We are awaiting her enterolab results because she says she needs proof.... -
ARCHIVED 8 Years And I Am Still Oh So Tired!
fedora replied to macbadgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know much about thyroid problems, but that sounds like a good suggestion. I would also say iron levels need to be checked. Maybe other food intolerances- dairy, soy.... good luck and hope you feel better. I was sooooo tired for years after having my first baby(not gluten or dairy free then). People would say it was from the pregnancy, but I... -
ARCHIVED New Research About Gliadin (gluten) In Breast Milk
fedora replied to Nancym's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
hi curious one, the protein in eggs has to be cooked to have the breaking down of the proteins started. Eating raw eggs, the protein is undigestable. I am taking nutrition(maybe will be a dietician) and that is what my class was taught. Maybe you bloated from that. I do have gluten-free friends who don't eat eggs from chickens fed wheat. They say they...
