ARCHIVED Halloween Candy
Katester replied to Anniegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Twizzlers are not gluten-free. I know Butterfinger, PayDay, all 3 Musketeers, Skittles, Baby Ruth, Almond Joy, Junior Mints, Nerds and Laffy Taffy are all gluten-free. Here's a great list: Open Original Shared Link Happy Halloween! -
ARCHIVED Ladies, What Facial Wash And Moisturizer Do You Use
Katester replied to cat3883's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I use D.O.V.E. face wash and C.L.I.N.I.Q.U.E. moisturizer. I have really dry skin and both of this help with that instead of stripping my face dry! I like both of these brands and products and definitely recommend them. -
ARCHIVED Halloween Party Menu
Katester replied to Katester's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm not making the Sloppy Joe's gluten-free on purpose. I'm a vegetarian so I won't be eating them anyways. None of the food will be in the house. I don't mind clean-up and everything. My family and I have just decided not to make them gluten-free. Thanks for the suggestions. Any others would be helpful too! -
I'm having a Halloween party on the 31st and I'm a little stuck on a menu. So far I have: Sloppy Joe's (in crock-pot)-not gluten-free Taffy Apple Salad Puppy Chow Candy Corn Cupcakes I would like another entree that is gluten-free and meat free-(some kind of salad maybe?) and another side/appetizer. Does anyone have any inexpensive, delicious...

ARCHIVED Who Has The Best gluten-free Pizza In Chicago?
Katester replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I just tried Aurelio's gluten free pizza this past weekend. I just got it with pineapple on it. It was pretty good. I mean, it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had but it's a great eating out option. I usually make pizza with the Glutino crusts and I prefer those but Aurelio's is great when you're not in the mood for cooking. I'd suggest it to anyone. =) Good... -

ARCHIVED Affy Tapples?
Katester replied to chgomom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know about these yet? These basically describe fall for me. I always have one the night of Halloween. Are they gluten-free? I hope so!!! -
I usually react about 4-5 hours later. Depending on how bad the glutening was determines how long I'll feel sick. Just last weekend I got some contamination and had gurgles and all of that for about 2 hours but then I was fine. If it's really bad, it could last me a day or two.

ARCHIVED You've Got To Try This...3 Minute Chocolate Cake
Katester replied to RissaRoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I did see the egg-less version but eggs are not that much of a problem for me. I can't eat omelets or scrambled eggs but any other time, an egg is fine. My main problem is getting it to be delicious! Any ideas as to why it isn't turning out right? -
ARCHIVED Which Is The Best Slow Cooker?
Katester replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was at Walmart for pretty much my first time and saw a 6 qt Rival Crock Pot. The biggest deal of the century-it was on clearance for $10!!! You can be sure I snatched it up right away. It's pretty much a basic crock pot with the removable bowl and the multiple settings. It doesn't have any special features but it works fine. I would suggest looking for... -
ARCHIVED You've Got To Try This...3 Minute Chocolate Cake
Katester replied to RissaRoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm from the La Grange area. But I'm getting out of here as soon as possible! Not enough action for me. I'm positive I remembered the sugar. I remember thinking that it seems like a lot of sugar for such a little dessert. I used the biggest coffee mug we have and the right amount of cocoa powder. I didn't mix it in another bowl though. I'll have... -
ARCHIVED You've Got To Try This...3 Minute Chocolate Cake
Katester replied to RissaRoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I tried this last night. Another bad baking experience. It ended up looking like a spongy cylinder. It didn't climb over the top of the mug or even touch the sides of it. It was very tough and chewy and not sweet at all. What am I doing wrong?!?! Every single gluten free dessert I've baked has turned out horrible!!! -

ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick Breads?
Katester replied to Live2BWell's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Kinnikinnick makes delicious chocolate covered donuts. Yum. It only comes with a couple in the package but I'm not a huge donut eater. They're a great treat. I've tried their hot dog buns and hamburger buns and didn't really like either. They tasted like a sponge to me. But I've tried the bread you have and the White Sandwich Bread and both are pretty good... -
I'm currently obsessed with homemade waffles. I splurged and bought myself a waffle iron. I've tried a couple different mixes. I guess they're not from scratch. Haha. But mmmm...they're delicious! Trader Joes' is probably my favorite. I put some warmed frozen strawberries and powdered sugar on it. I could eat them everyday.

ARCHIVED Dried Fruit Vs Regular
Katester replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I get the same way and I love dried fruit. I've tried dried pineapple, mango, papaya, raisins, craisins and apples. Each bothered me with the more I ate. If I just have a handful I'm usually fine. If I get totally addicted to it (which I usually do with dried fruit), I get very bad stomach aches. I've kind of just avoided it lately. Such a shame... -
For some reason, I'm not a big Almond Butter fan. To me, it's not worth the money. All the different brands I've tried have been flavorless in my opinion. I definitely prefer real peanut butter. Nothing beats it to me. My current addiction is to Trader Joes' Gluten Free Granola. It's not that expensive but I buy so much of it that it gets a little pricey...

ARCHIVED Mac&cheese As A Main Dish
Katester replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Could you share the recipe for the chocolate chip mint cupcakes? They sound great. Sorry I'm not any help. Hopefully others will help a little more. -
My family is going over to my Grandma's house tomorrow night for our old family favorite, Chinese food. I'm wondering what I can eat! Last time we had it I brought pancakes because I wasn't giving enough time to call or prepare anything. Does anyone know of any basics that are for sure gluten-free? Anything I should ask them or ask them to remove? The owners...

ARCHIVED Red Hot Dogs
Katester replied to new2glutenfree2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't really know what a red hot dog is but reading the title kind of grossed me out. Haha. We usually get Hebrew National and lovee them. Just adding an opinion. =)
