anyone feel like it was an ulcer?
Scott Adams replied to ironictruth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
@canadiangeek, if it were caused by gallstones it would happen even when you don't eat gluten. You mentioned that it happens to you when you accidentally eat gluten, so my guess is that in your case that is what causes it. This article might be helpful: -
Generally speaking increasing carbohydrates, and decreasing fat and protein in your diet should cause you to gain more weight. Sitting on your butt to much like I do also helps 😄. You can also gain more muscle mass/weight if you go on a high protein diet and exercise more, but honestly, the higher carb route would be a better bet until you at least ge...

It's kind of amazing how the wheat industry has been able to get wheat/gluten into so many products, including so many different kinds of pet foods. I am no expert on parrots, but couldn't you just feed them dried corn kernels, bird seed, and other gluten-free things? It seems like you should be able to find alternatives to the commercially available feeds...

meat: "may contain allergens"
Scott Adams replied to donuthole's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Based on this vague label it could have trace amounts of wheat, which is considered to be one of the top 8 allergens that are referred to whenever they use the word "allergen" on an ingredient label. Obviously its better to look for items that say "gluten-free" on the label, and it is your call whether or not to eat it. May food companies use blanket statements... -
@Sharron robinson are you on a 100% gluten-free diet? If so, how long have you been gluten-free? It looks to me like you could be getting gluten in your diet, otherwise the DH should improve over time.

Being part of any law suit against a big company is risky, and can become a full time job. You also generally need to show some sort of serious injury or substantial economic loss caused by their actions. A few days of feeling bad generally isn't going to be a big incentive for a law firm to take such a case pro bono. We've reported many such lawsuits against...

More Than Half of Human Gut Bacteria Could Be Harmed by Glyphosate
Scott Adams commented on Scott Adams's article in Latest Research
The study concludes that "Analysis made with the team's new bioinformatics tool shows that more than half of the human core gut bacterial species are potentially sensitive to glyphosate," so clearly the possibility that the effects on our microbiome could be negative, not positive. Further, other studies have linked changes in the microbiome over the years...- 8 comments

Has your doctor helped you understand your results? Did they recommend a biopsy or gluten-free diet. Given your family history it seems like they should be able to diagnose you with blood tests also, but they may want to do a biopsy as well. -

Yes, the manager defended his staff by telling me that cooking my GF pasta in a separate pot using fresh water would have cause an unacceptable delay in my serving time, probably at least 15 minutes, which is "not acceptable for the Olive Garden." Of course I chewed him out and told him that he should not be offering anything that is marked "gluten-free"...

Diagnosed?
Scott Adams replied to bobandlucy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
About a month ago I started taking Bifidobacterium Infantis supplements because of the studies I've seen on them. I haven't had any serious symptoms, but just some minor gut discomfort that seemed to be increasing lately. After about a month on them I do notice a positive difference, and the bloating feelings I was getting have gone away. Here are some articles... -
Diagnosed?
Scott Adams replied to bobandlucy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It definitely sounds like they were able to visually see damage consistent with celiac disease, and you should be 100% gluten-free now. I suspect it will take a bit of time to view the samples and issue the definitive diagnosis, but it sounds like you should heed their findings and give up gluten until you hear otherwise. Yes, I'm amazed that after decades... -

Scott Adams replied to Kid Vicious's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It looks like it is gluten-free, but may need to hurry: "Surge will be leaving shelves soon, so you may experience limited availability.": https://www.surge.com/surge.html/ -
are you going to take the vaccine
Scott Adams replied to DJFL77I's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Whether we like it or not I doubt that any of us would be able to get access and take this vaccine anytime during the next 90 days, which means that by the time we get it tens of millions of people will have likely been given the vaccine. On one had it's not great to have to wait and risk getting covid-19, on the other hand we should learn of all of its risks... -
Just beware about large chain restaurants, for example, the last time I ate at the Olive Garden (over 5 years ago now), they had added a gluten-free penne pasta option to their menu. I got sick from it and called and talked to the manager who said they still cooked it in the same boiling water as wheat pasta! I want to believe that this was a one time mistake...
