  1. They have a gluten free menu that is fantastic. I live in Michigan and we ate there yesterday for the first time at the Rochester Hills location. The waitress and chef were very knowledgable and it was great. I am very sensitive and always fearful when eating out, but I didn't get sick and feel just fine. Yippee! I will definitely go back. They have...
  2. This seems strange as Clinton was known for his love of fast food and has stated in news articles..before his quadruple bypass, that is...that Big Macs were his favorite 'snack'.
  3. How exciting! I just tivo'd it as well and sure enough, it's in there. They must have had such a great response from Elisabeth's previous blurb on the show about Celiac that they decided to make an entire segment. I can hardly wait to see what is discussed. This is so great. Celiac's unite! It really does make a difference when we all write in and respond...
  4. Thank you so much for your replies! I think I will stear clear of it for now. I'm an unltrasensitive Celiac and the word 'wheat' scares me anyway. Thank you again for your posts!
  5. Does anyone no for sure and have any links to articles indicating the certainty as to whether or not Wheat Grass is gluten free? I use a juicer often and want to try some new things for added health benefits and I have been told by some that wheat grass is ok, and by others it is not. Of course the word "wheat" sends me running scared but I have heard there...
  6. YES! YES! YES! Behavior can definitely be affected by ingesting gluten in a gluten intolerant child (and adult for that matter). Myself and my two daughters aged 4 and 6 are gluten intolerant. Behavior changes are dramatic in them when they get glutened....and usually that is the only symptom. They are both very quiet, sweet girls normally who are excellent...
  7. I'm from Michigan too...Macomb Township to be exact. I have Celiac and so do my girls aged 4 and 6 (Dad, brother and two cousins diagnosed too). My children spike very high fevers (104-105) when they get glutened. It lasts 24 hours and that's it. It's so strange, but I can track it back every time and say with 99% certainty the high temp is caused by...
  8. Hello! My husband was just told he needs to go on a business trip to Zurich at the end of January...he really wants me to go with him. I would love to go too...but worried about the gluten free options there. Any suggestions from anyone who has been there would be much appreciated!
  9. Anyone know of a gluten-free fruit snack? My daughter's class is having them in a couple of days and I wanted to get an acceptable brand for my little one to have with the rest of the children. Thank you!
  10. Hello Andrea! I wanted to e-mail you directly, but I didn't see the option. I have an unrelated question to your post...hope you don't mind:). My husband is considering a job position relocation in Italy. Myself and my two children aged 4 (preschool) and 6 (first grade) are Celiac. I was wondering what it's like to be Celiac in Italy? How accomodating...
  11. Very cool of you to look into how you can accomodate your friend. VERY cool! I am a Celiac in Michigan and can give you a lot of info depending on which University you are at. Lemme know where you are located and I can help you out some more.
  12. Does anyone know of any brands of instant hot cocoa mix that are gluten free? Thanks so much!
  13. Hello! We are planning a trip to the Florida Keys in February. We are going to have a kitchen, but it sure would be nice to go out to eat while on vacation:). Does anyone have any suggestions for places to eat in the Keys? We will be staying in the northern keys, but we have a car. Thank you!
  14. Watch the Rachel Ray Show today (10/3) Open Original Shared Link october 3, 2006 "Bad" Foods That Are Good For You! Got a child who suffers from food allergies? Rachael shows you how to create a meal that anyone can eat and enjoy! Plus, former "bad foods" that are actually good for you. Sorry for the late notice on this. Just heard about this...
  15. Hello! I wasn't sure where to post this. But...has anyone accomplished the 3 day breast cancer walk (60 miles)? I am interested in doing it, but I wasn't sure how it would work with the food issues. I was at a cheering station last month for it and was very inspired, and talked to some women who walked it and they said they are fed all day and you have...
  16. Hi Ricco! I am a 36 year old mother who is Celiac and my two daughters aged 4 and 6 are Celiac also. We have some very good friends of ours that are Dutch physicians and they live in Almelo, Netherlands. My husband actually lived in Amsterdam for 6 months before we got married so we have a handful of Dutch friends that we still talk too. We hope to visit...
  17. I'm Lutheran (Missouri Synod) and my Pastor has been very accomodating. I bought a box of gluten-free communion wafers from Ener-G.com. They look exactly like the regular wafers our church uses. I took the box to my Pastor and he consecrated them. I then take a wafer with me to church and take it up with me during communion and eat it before I take the...
  18. I came across this article this morning. Sounds promising. Celiac success: New enzyme efficiently degrades gluten in 'human stomach' environment End of the gluten-free diet in sight? Bethesda, MD (June 30, 2006) – A new enzyme originally developed for commercial food processing turns out to also quickly and nearly-completely break down whole gluten m...
  19. I'm not a big sweet eater, but I polished off the entire bag of these. They are as close to the original as I can remember. I was swatting my husbands hands away from the bag who agreed they are almost identical. It's a fairly new product as I understand it. Kinnikinnick - KinniTOOS Chocolate Sandwich Creme Cookies
  20. Yes. It's true! I just bought two bags at our local Celiac Bakery. Check it out: glutenfreeoats.com
  21. I've looked everywhere, but thought I would ask if anyone has come across a gluten-free cheddar fish cracker OR a cracker similiar to a cheeze-it. It bothers my 6 year old immensely watching other kids eat those darn crackers and she wishes so badly that she could have them. Anyone have any suggestions?
  22. I'm gluten-free, CF, Red meat free, soy limited. No processed foods. Just curious, how do the rest of you deal with social gatherings? My husband is Italian and no matter where we go there is lots of food. A great number of these Italians get offended that I don't eat anything. It's getting terribly frustrating.

    ARCHIVED Body For Life

I am Gluten-free Casein-free and was wondering if anyone has tried the Body For Life program? The majority of the food suggestions are gluten-free, but not cf and I wasn't sure if substitutions would be adequate.
  24. Excellent. And I've tried a lot and I'm very picky about flavor. There is no grittyness, no after taste. The only thing about the bars is they are not 'dry'. When you take the bar out of the wrapper it is like a Bit 'O Honey bar - best comparison I could come up with, hopefully you have had a Bit 'O Honey candy bar in your life:). The flavor is great...
  25. The majority of Jay Robb protein powders and bars are gluten-free and CF. Taste great too...and I'm picky. I've tried other bars, including the LARA and these are A LOT better. On the website it lists all of the "free of" ingredients for all products. Lets you know if its gluten free and casein free. jayrobb.com is the website.
