  1. I have been told I have Barrett's esophagus, where there is inflammation all around the opening. I don't know if it is related to celiac though.
  2. I don't know what the exact number was, he just said I was "well over 100". I didn't know enough then to ask for specifics!
  3. Yep, it's on the long list of things I've tried.... I have long since given up on anything working "miracles" on me! Keep the suggestions coming though - you guys know me well enough to know I will try anything once!
  4. Check out this site: Open Original Shared Link The children's medical wristbands are the greatest idea I think! Hugs Karen
  5. Oh God, I wish!
  6. Hi! It was in a thread waaaay back in 2005. Here is the link to the original thread: Open Original Shared Link It was a post by Claire. There is a weblink there too, I think....... Karen
  7. I eat Reece's Peanut Butter Cups. They are gluten-free. The area you have to be very careful (especially this time of year,Halloween), are the miniatures. Alot of miniatures of otherwise gluten-free chocolate bars quite often contain gluten. Don't ask me why, though.......
  8. Can't say one way or the other - I haven't even heard of them!
  9. Anyone wanting hard, cold facts and published medical articles on the subject, go here: Open Original Shared Link Oh, I bought the book too! But I haven't read it yet, I brought it over to a teacher who taught the boys last year. Her twin boy has been diagnosed with autism. Karen
  10. I saw it also and I thought Jenny was simply amazing! She really hit the nail on the head when she said "Anyone that doubts the gut to brain theory, I would like to challenge them to prove it in a bar - just go and have some drinks and tell me what whether or not what goes in your gut doesn't affect your brain"..... AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I was really disappointed...
  11. Happy Birthday Deb! Hope is was a great one! Hugs Karen
  12. Holy Jeepers! There sure are alot of parents of children with autism that are TOTALLY unaware of the fact that gluten is, indeed, poison. Open Original Shared Link I keep praying for the day that Cornell some other prestigious Ivy League university comes out with definite proof and puts the doubt to rest finally! (My niece is studying Environmental...
  13. Sending prayers her way! Friends of mine had a baby the same time we had Eileen (who is now 14). Well, for the first two years, their girl Tori, used to spike fevers very quickly and have seizures. She outgrew them by the time she was 2. It was really scary for the parents though..... Hugs Karen
  14. There are a few here who would get a real kick out of someone calling me an "angel"..... I all too glad to help and any questions, just fire away. Our motto here is there is no such thing as a silly question...... We have all been there.... Karen
  15. OOOOOOH! I gotta try this! I miss my KFC soooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks! Karen
  16. I think you are exactly right - except I think that the doctor is in THEIR pocket! Why do doctors think it is okay to be puppets for the pharmaceutical companies? They should change to Hypocritic Oath (or whatever it's called.... ) to have them pledge NEVER to sell out their patients to pharmaceutical companies......
  17. Oh, Good Lord! Sheesh! It's a good thing us celiacs are a tenacious bunch, considering the number of times we get beaten down! Look long term - We Will Prevail!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Happy Birthday everyone! It's my younger daughter's birthday also! Rhiannon is 9 yrs old today! Hugs Karen
  19. That's good to know Peter! Thanks!
  20. The caramel is what stood out for me (quite often it is wheat based) but they said it was corn based, so that's eliminated.... The rest looks okay to me - nothing else stands out. I do know there are some gluten free soy sauces out there, making the rounds in the chinese food industry. Perhaps this is one of them. Here is another: Open Original...
  21. Okay, today on Y&R at the coffeehouse, it has Nick handing a strawberry smoothie over to Daniel (who is gluten intolerant), and said "Here, it has wheat grass in it, I promised your Mom I would look out for you"...... Huh? I know there is controversy over whether or not wheat grass is safe for us, but of ALL things for the writers to put in there...
  22. I am really glad to hear from you! Sounds like things are going really good for you! I hope you stick around, we miss you around here! Hugs Karen
