    ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed- Help

Welcome to the board MacDaddy! I have always thought along the same lines as you - there needs to be a doctor who can treat the "whole" me, instead of seeing numerous doctors. It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, so to speak..... Oh well, we can dream, right? LOL! I am glad you got your diagnosis finally! Now your life...
  2. Hi Billie.... I am glad you found us! There's a bunch of really great, supportive people on here who are extremely knowledgeable not only about celiac, but related disorders also. Lots of us have numerous autoimmune disorders (they tend to come in clusters....). Our motto here is there is no such thing as a silly question. Anything you want to ask...
  3. Just explain to him that all the changes that your whole family would have to endure from the move came crashing/flashing before your eyes and for a split second you panicked, and out came that remark. Tell him that this is a decision that affects EVERYONE in your family, and the first thing that came out of your mouth was derived from that, and NOT from...
  4. From what I have read, it is manageable, thank God.... Although the prospect of me being on steriods for the rest of my just has me jumping for joy. The last time I was on prednisone, it was not a pretty sight!
  5. Okay, here's the scoop since I haven't done an update in ages..... in fact, I have hardly kept in touch with anyone, just withdrawing into myself, which I know is the worst thing for me to do. Anyway, I got some great news and not so great news when I went to see him Monday. He had the pathologist pull my slides of my biopsy for further review. The...
  6. Yep, you have to be very careful with ham..... I thought ham was out of the question for me anymore, but then I found this: Open Original Shared Link I am glad that this company lists the allergy info for each product that they have. Karen
  7. I remember reading about a month ago that it is NOT gluten free...... Karen
  8. Yep, tried that too. Nothing stays in long enough to bind. I have what they call "rapid transit". Things go through me immediately. They did that test where you drink that chalky stuff and they take an x-ray, then you go out and sit and they call you at 20 minute intervals to track it through your system. They said I would be there a couple of...
  9. Tried that too....... no luck......
  10. Yep. That's exactly why they suggested I get one. With my chronic anemia, my heavy periods were just making it worse, and since the Mirena emits low doses of hormone directly into the uterus, thereby drastically reducing your period, they figured it was a good way to keep some blood in me! LOL! My insurance covered it 100%.
  11. I had it done - no complications...... I had to make sure I didn't get pregnant again! The next pregnancy would probably have been triplets!!!!! I wanted to make sure they sliced, diced, chopped, anything else they could do to make sure that didn't happen! LOL! There was no difference in my periods or anything - as they have always been very heavy...
  12. Thinking of you today when I heard that Gabrielle is coming to shore in the Outer Banks! Even though it is not a full fledged hurricane, 85 mph winds is nothing to take lightly! Lay low! Hugs Karen
  13. I'm jealous of you guys. Immodium doesn't do anything for me..... I could eat the whole box and nothing would happen!
  14. My answer is short and sweet: 100%!
  15. This is my life 24/7...... Between the refractory celiac and the collagenous colitis, I have absolutely no control, and to make matters worse, it is nothing but water, constantly, 20 - 30 times a day, for over a decade now..... also, it is very nocturnal, it is most active in the middle of the night. I get to sleep finally just when it's time for...
  16. Congrats on the new arrival! I am glad everything went smoothly...... Geez, us celiac women are like a bunch of rabbits!!!! You guys trying to catch up to me? LOL! Hugs Karen
  17. I think it HAS to be related, either to the celiac or some deficiency due to the celiac, because I also get these - quite often..... Karen
  18. All this talk about preemies brings back memories......... Daniel and Connor (my twin boys who are 6 now) were born at 31 weeks gestation, both weighing 3 lbs. 12 oz. each...... They were so tiny! Thank God, I had the steriod injection when my water broke on the Thursday and I didn't go into labour until the Sunday, so the steriods really kicked in...
  19. That's one handsome dude! Congrats! Hugs Karen

  21. Wonderful news! Congrats Stef! Hugs Karen
  22. LOL! I used to hate how it stuck to the roof of my mouth!
  23. Yikes! I hope not! Wouldn't it be so ironic if regular loaf of Wonder Bread all of a sudden was more expensive than our Kinnikinnick?????
  24. Hi! Check your pm! Karen
  25. We can always hope that manufacturers will decide to use corn or rice instead of wheat, based on this: Open Original Shared Link Karen
