ARCHIVED Outback-no More Gluten Free Menu?
Canadian Karen replied to jpsych's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I also think it's all in the way it is handled. If someone points something out in a kind way saying "I just wanted you to know for future reference........" is one thing. It's quite another to have a customer go off on a tangent yelling that they are going to sue because they got sick...... (This is always a worry to me as restaurants will just say "Screw... -
ARCHIVED Incredibly Painful Joints
Canadian Karen replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Me too about the potatoes and tomato based, only for me it's soups. The thing that is really scary is that throughout my life, my one and only safe food whenever I was in so much pain and my insides felt so raw and irritated, was potatoes. No matter how bad it was, I could still eat potatoes without bringing on the pain. If I lose potatoes, I am in trouble... -
ARCHIVED Incredibly Painful Joints
Canadian Karen replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Canadians get in on the right side, the Americans on the left side! Nancy, I do believe it was you! Thanks again for the name and I am going to research it more..... That link about the nightshades was very interesting, but very troubling. If I had to give up potatoes, I would die! Basically, I live on potatoes and rice. Also, thanks for... -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better
Canadian Karen replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just got caught up on our little cherub Megan's progress. Although she still has the gagging issues, the recovery from the surgery and the weight gain is wonderful news! Will continue my prayers for her..... God bless, Karen -
My joints flare up and are incredibly painful. Particularly my right thumb, wrist, elbow, hip and ankle - all on the right side. I have previously had the bloodtest for rheumatoid arthritis and it came back negative. Now I know for certain it is some form of arthritis that I have (based on the kind of joint pain I endure) and someone on here mentioned...

ARCHIVED Laugh Of The Day
Canadian Karen replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was wondering what a blue room is also. Up here, we call those "Port-A-Potties"....... When I am out and about, I wouldn't be able to hold it if my life depended on it, so I am a regular visitor to public washrooms.......... Terry was telling me about the other day when he took Daniel into a men's washroom. Usually, when we are out, I take the... -

LMAO! I wish I kept a copy of the article that was out recently of testing that was done and it showed there was more germs on our cell phones than on a public toilet! -

ARCHIVED Am I Doing The Right Thing?
Canadian Karen replied to jayhawkmom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I say do it, just to put your mind at ease that you have everything else ruled out. As long as you have a doctor who is willing to accept celiac as a diagnosis even without a positive biopsy, then there is no harm in it. More and more doctors are starting to realize that the biopsy is no longer the "gold standard" of diagnosis. It is such a hit and miss... -
ARCHIVED Need Your Support In Remaining Stress Free About Getting Gluttened
Canadian Karen replied to steveindenver's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi! The best way for you to deal with this is just take one day at a time. The more worrying you do about it, the more stress you are putting on your body and that can only delay healing. We ALL make mistakes, slip up, have gluten accidents. Even being the ultimate careful celiac will not 100% protect you from all the little hidden places it can get... -

Every time I look at the ostrich, I think it is one of those trick pictures..... You see an ostrich, but also, if you look at it's beak, you see a hamster's face also...... or is that just me being weird again???? -

Nope. Thank God none of my kids ended up with colic. So far I have had the girls bloodtest done, both negative, but haven't tested the boys yet. Daniel used to have constipation problems when he was younger but not now. Connor hasn't had any problems. Rhiannon is the one I am convinced will have celiac. She is fine boned, delicate, and has had constipation... -

They were born at 31 weeks gestation (9 weeks early) because Daniel broke his water. See, Connor kept on kicking him in the head and Daniel finally said "I'm blowing this popsicle stand!" They were both 3 lbs 12 oz. when they were born. It's funny, we have video of when they were first home from the hospital - Daniel was the troublesome, noisy baby, Connor... -

Oh yeah, like you wouldn't believe..... Daniel is firstborn - shy, bashful, thoughtful, long attention span, will sit for an hour colouring or playing with Hot Wheels..... If Daniel gets hurt even in the slightest, he's balling for 10 minutes. Connor is born 4 minutes later - Hell on Wheels - the song "Bad to the Bone" is his theme song...... can... -
