ARCHIVED Newbie
Canadian Karen replied to bmzob's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Boy oh boy, you have no idea how many of us can relate. It's like a broken record around here, 1) doctors being terribly misinformed (i.e. why the heck didn't they mention the villious atrophy to you before?????) 2) nutritionists/dieticians being totally useless. I think once you read some posts around here, so much of what is shared here will be totally... -
ARCHIVED My Son Has Endoscopy On Friday
Canadian Karen replied to nikki-uk's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Nikki! I think it's wonderful that they are getting him in sooner instead of having to wait. I just had the biopsy last month, and here in Canada, they don't use general, they just sedate you, you don't go right under, you are still aware, you just don't feel anything (personally, what a wonderful high it is for me!!! LOL!) I am with you in the... -
ARCHIVED Frustrated That Nothing Is Working
Canadian Karen replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am with Ursula on this one. This sentence jumped out at me when I read it. Many years of damage being done necessitates the need for a longer period to get better. It is not unusual at all for some to take 2 years before the damage is reversed and they start to notice a difference. I say stay the course....... Oh, and welcome! Karen -

Canadian Karen replied to Lisa's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff

ARCHIVED How Has The Forum Helped You?
Canadian Karen replied to CarlaB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Gee, where to start: 1) I learned that a 13 yr old boy could be an amazingly articulate human being with the capacity to singlehandedly reassure me, calm me down, give me clear concise information and show a level-headedness that I didn't think existed in a 13 yr old. celiac3270, of course I am talking about you. Our wonderful celiac3270. We luv ya... -

ARCHIVED 12 Weeks Of Hell
Canadian Karen replied to Chris E's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Chris, With regard to your doctor saying the tingling and numbness would not be related to celiac, I would suggest you print this out and give him a copy in hopes of educating him as to the wide variety of symptoms this disease has..... https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-31106599711.42 Karen -
ARCHIVED Catch Y'all Later.
Canadian Karen replied to penguin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The only glitch I can see in regards to having a "sticky" thread for products/food that is okay to eat is the fact that it would be impossible to keep it totally up to date and the ramifications of someone getting glutened because of out of date information would be a major drawback. There would have to be a very bold disclaimer in the sticky absolving celiac... -
ARCHIVED Gfp-what Is Going On?
Canadian Karen replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Grrrrrr! Just typed out a really long post and hit submit and lost it! Will try this again! Steve, I don't think your hair looks "mulletish" at all. To me, it looks more like the intellectual university professor type cut...... I hope you didn't take offence to me calling you PyroSteve. I try to find humour in all situations...... as you can tell... -

ARCHIVED Catch Y'all Later.
Canadian Karen replied to penguin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Perhaps I should be more specific..... I fully agree that the newbies are "eventually" welcomed to this forum, but there are many that are posted for quite some time before they get replies because too many people are caught up in the "politics" and threads that just seem to go in circles needlessly. Karen -
ARCHIVED Catch Y'all Later.

ARCHIVED My Experience With Being Gluten Free
Canadian Karen replied to evie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you evie for sharing and Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary. Your post gave me an important lesson. See, sometimes I feel that I no longer should be posting saying "Do this, you will feel so much better", because in actual truth, I wouldn't know because everything I have done so far has had no effect in improving my particular situation. But...
