I want your problem too! I have weight piled on from the prednisone that I haven't been able to get off. It's stuck there, just won't move, no weight gain, no weight loss. Can't offer advice since I am at the opposite end of the spectrum, just wanted to say I envy you! Karen

ARCHIVED How Long Will The Diarreha Last After Going Gluten Free?
Canadian Karen replied to mochalatta's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Mochalatta (that sounds like a delicious coffee!!) Welcome to the board! Everyone heals differently. Some see improvement almost overnight while others it can take up to 6 months to a year. It also depends greatly on how gluten-free your son is. Alot of people, when they are new to this diet, are still getting glutened in some way, either by medications... -

I also get that but I just always thought it was due to the fact that I dread the exam so much that it makes me so tense, thereby irritating me all the more..... Karen

ARCHIVED Personal Lubricants
Canadian Karen replied to tammy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Tammy, I myself have not had any problem with KY Touch Massage 2-in-1 Warming Body Massage & Personal Lubricant. The ingredients listed are: Propylene glycol Polyethylene glycol Lactic acid Hydroxypropylcellulose I can't comment on whether it is okay to use with a condom. After the birth of my twins, I made sure I was sliced, diced, sautered... -
Good advice, Tiffany. There could be other issues at hand also. Perhaps collagenous colitis. Further testing would be the only way to find out. Financial limitations I would suspect are a large part of the reason why celiac disease goes undiagnosed to such a large extent...... Just had a thought. I wonder if money is so limited, would it be worth...

ARCHIVED Questions To Bring To Celiac Specialist
Canadian Karen replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am myself trying to understand the difference between the two. Right now, I am trying to counsel my sister. I had FINALLY talked her into going for the bloodwork for celiac because she has ALL the same problems as me, except instead of the big D, she has the big C. Her bloodwork came back negative and basically was told by the GI, "You don't have it... -
ARCHIVED I've Just Been Diagnosed
Canadian Karen replied to aimee-in-ok's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Aimee! I am glad you found us. You will find out more here than you will from any doctor. The medical establishment is far behind in its teaching about celiac disease. First, you just might have to give up milk for awhile also. Most celiacs who are first diagnosed will be lactose intolerant until their start to grow back (the part of our intestines... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer
Canadian Karen replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can remember years ago going down with hubby (just boyfriend at the time) to Cincinnati to see the Reds and Pirates play. This was pre-gluten-free diet. I forgot all my Caesar stuff at home. I went into a supermarket and asked them where their clamato juice, tabasco sauce and worsteshire sauce was. They looked at me like I had two heads. I explained... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer
Canadian Karen replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have heard rave reviews about it..... Now if they can only make a gluten free Clamato Juice so I can have my Bloody Caesar's again....... Karen -
Stef, Just wanted to mention that I enjoyed reading your daily updates on your training. I was exercising vicariously through you!!!! Karen

ARCHIVED Glutenfree Lactose Intolerant Tabs
Canadian Karen replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Although I did have a problem with lactose for quite some time, I am back to regular milk with no problems. I couldn't stand the taste of any lactose-free milk until someone suggested "Natrel" lactose free milk. I swear you can't tell the difference! It was delicious! I am not sur if you can get it where you are at though or whether it is only in Canada... -
That's okay, no problem! When you mentioned AC/DC, I just had to check it out (12 yr old daughter is a HUGE AC/DC fan!!) Karen

ARCHIVED I Don't No What Else To Do
Canadian Karen replied to klemmen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you have a spouse or significant other that you kiss shortly after they have consumed gluten (food, beer)? Maybe before you were gluten free, this didn't bother you but now that you are off gluten, your body would be much more sensitive to it..... Karen -
Hi! I don't have the DH problem (many, many others, but thank God, not DH). I just wanted to post to warn other posters that if they are visiting your website with the speakers on, don't have children around. I had my twin 4 yr old boys here at the desk with me when I visited, had to hit the "X" button pretty quick!!! Karen

ARCHIVED A Shout Out For Triumph Dining Cards
Canadian Karen replied to elonwy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
It wouldn't be worth it for me to get them. We never go out to dinner anyway.... Not only because of Celiac Disease, but going out with four kids (including 4 yr old twin boys) is an experience you don't want to go through too often! Not only is it expensive, but messy, especially when the boys were younger (I swear there were a few restaurants that... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer
Canadian Karen replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I never was a beer drinker even before having to go gluten-free (more of a vodka person myself.....) but here in Canada, celiacs are lucky. There are select LCBO's (our liquor store up here) that sell gluten-free beer, the french one, I can't remember the name of it, but everyone raves about it...... If I ever go down to the States for a celiac conference... -

ARCHIVED How Many Family Members With Celiac?
Canadian Karen replied to chrissy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am the only one "officially" diagnosed, but I swear my sister has it also. I actually finally talked her into going for the bloodtest, and it came back negative. I can't believe the GI didn't want to pursue it further though. She has everything the same as I do except she has the big C instead of the big D. I believe it is on my mom's side extensively... -
