  1. I agree. Kinnickinnick by far is way ahead of other makers of gluten-free breads, muffins, etc. Their english muffins in particular are so nice a fluffy I can't believe that they are gluten free! They rock! p.s. Hurray, this is post 1000 for me!! Hugs. Karen
  2. I swear by Stevia. It is all natural, gluten free and great taste. I would highly recommend you try it. Karen
  3. Yep, Tide is okay. Here is a list from Delphi of what is gluten-free from this company: Proctor & Gamble Laundry Detergents (800-725-3296) (ve=05/23/02) (www.pg.com) All varieties of: Tide, Era, Gain, Bold, Cheer, Dreft, Ivory Snow Karen
  4. Nancy, that's EXACTLY what is happening to me. When I first went on the prednisone, I exploded up to 200 lbs. in record time. But I looked 200 lbs also. I was puffy, fat, bloated, etc....... After the prednisone was finished, my body shape changed drastically and I thought for sure I was losing the weight, but lo and behold, I step on the scale and...
  5. Hi Kim! Actually, I haven't been on it for months now but still have not been able to lose the weight that I gained when I was on it. I was on prednisone for 6 weeks. It was a regiment of 6 pills a day for a week, next week 5 pills a day, next week 4 pills a day, gradually getting down to 0. It totally threw my system for a loop. I was put on it...
  6. First they tried me on Budesonide, when that didn't work, they had me on Prednisone for six weeks, which didn't work either. But I had six weeks of gaining weight at breakneck speed and now I can't shake it..... Karen
  7. Okay, I am fed up...... Ever since I was on steriods earlier this year (which made me balloon up to 200 lbs.), I have been unable to shed the excess, even though I have greatly curtailed my calorie intake..... I now firmly believe that the steriods somehow "shut down" my metabolism or something. I am now to the point where I am willing to try some...
  8. Hi Erica, Don't worry, don't panic! I ate gluten through all my pregnancies (was not put on the gluten-free diet yet....) I was diagnosed with Celiac in my early 20's, but after a few years of no improvement on the gluten-free diet (which turned out to be due to collagenous colitis, not diagnosed until this year), they had taken me off the gluten-free...
  9. Awesome!!!! Thanks! Karen
  10. I agree also, without Scott, none of us would be here if you really think about it. His dedication must be amazing to keep this running and all the work that goes along with that. Kudos Scott! You rock! Karen
  11. I use Duncan Hines. But be careful, there is a new Duncan Hines icing that is not gluten free - (I forget which one, it's like whipped or something.....) so make sure you read the label. Hugs. Karen
  12. Duh, brain fog......... Open Original Shared Link Karen
  13. Hey Guys, I think is our one and only Steph that this article is related to....... Oh, and Steph, how did you do in the competition? I didn't get a chance to e-mail you back about meeting as the boys both had the croup.....(not fun!)..... Congrats on becoming famous!!!!! Hugs. Karen
  14. Hey Matilda! Whine away! I feel like (and certainly partake in) whining every once in awhile when I do EVERYTHING right and because of the collagenous colitis that just won't get under control, I still have enough diarrhea in a 24 hour period to fill an oil tanker!! Yeah, I figure a good whine-fest every once in awhile is good for the soul!!!! ...
  15. Darn, Rachel, you took all the suspense out of it!!!! Karen
  16. Linda, Nope. They weren't there. They had EnviroKids and Nature Path, but that's all..... Oh, of course, they had they own Organics Corn Pops that are gluten free..... Karen
  17. I'm going to the Superstore tonight. It's a brand new one that opened up so I will check to see if I can find them there...... I'll let you know...... Karen
  18. Okay, makes sense now - I either have brain fog right now or am suffering from lack of sleep (my collagenous colitis has it's own internal clock - wakes me up at 2:00 a.m., and constantly going to the can/having cramps until 5 or 6 a.m.). Those are my nights on a regular basis pretty much....... The only reason I could think of that he would HAVE to...
  19. Hi Mandigirl! I also have consistent hair loss. Thank God I have incredibly thick hair because every time I am in the shower and am rinsing out my hair, it just comes out right in my fingers. I have to clean the drain out after every shower. One thing to keep in mind though. I have always attributed my hair loss to my thyroid problems. Hypothyroidism...
  20. Huh? I know it's been too long of a day when I read a paragraph three times and still can't wrap my mind around it!!! Karen
  21. Ooh, nothing compares to Hellmann's. I love that stuff! Karen
  22. Yep, you got it......... the numbers don't lie!!!! I can't really tell you how to go about finding a Gastro guy, here in Canada, we get referred by our GP. Pig out while you can, and please, have a Whopper for me. At least I can live vicariously through someone else!!!! Karen
  23. Cool! Thanks for the info! Those are great for me on-the-go!!! Karen
  24. The conferences must really be going around because when I was at my GP a couple of weeks ago, she had one of those dr.'s who are interning and shadowing her to learn. He came in before my GP did and introduced himself and started asking questions. As soon as I heard he was learning to be a dr., I made sure I started talking about celiac disease non-stop...
  25. I would think of gluten as paint. If you just splattered your intestines with a few drops of paint (crumbs), then when the dr. did the biopsy, the probability of him actually catching on of those splatter spots on a biopsy would be slim to none. If you downed a whole can of paint (2 to 3 slices a day), the probability of him catching a paint patch (gluten...
