  1. Hi! Welcome to the board!! There is definitely a link between celiac disease and thyroid disease. I myself have hypothyroidism and numerous people here also have the same. There are also several of us who have Grave's Disease, which is also a thyroid disease. Definitely get her thyroid checked. Also, regarding her period, there is also...
  2. Wow, they sounded rather anal! (pardon the pun ) Sounds like they need to lighten up a bit! Karen
  3. The Gax-X Chewable Tablets contain gluten. The Gax-X Gelcaps do not contain any gluten. I learned this out the hard way!!!! Karen
  4. Actually, here is a thread regarding this: Open Original Shared Link and another: Open Original Shared Link Karen
  5. You should expect to meet someone who knows maybe half of what you know about celiac disease and the gluten free diet....... Karen
  6. Hi Kim, Sorry to say, but that is soooo typical of the limited knowledge of a dietician when it comes to celiac disease and the gluten free diet....... As far as I am concerned, they are a pathetic waste of time (and money if you happen to have to pay for a visit to one.....) It really bothers me actually that these people get paid to sit there...
  7. Yep, my sister. It was only minor and temporary...... Karen
  8. Hi! Is it down more where your uterus is? If that is the case, it may be fibroids. I just had my annual physical, and my family doctor felt something so she sent me for an ultrasound. Turns out it is fibroids and a swollen uterine wall. Nothing major, just something she is going to keep her eye on...... Definitely discuss it with your dr. though...
  9. I remember a thread a while back that the makers of budesonide in the U.S. will not guarantee their medication to be gluten free (it is guaranteed gluten free in Canada, made by same company). Something about not being able to guarantee whether the filler will be wheat based or corn based..... Budesonide is a mild steriod (used for collagenous colitis...
  10. The only thing that might be questionable would be the "flavors", but, if I had to choose the lesser of two evils, I would give her the Tylenol if her fever gets any higher.... Good Luck! Karen
  11. I know it helped mine...... The cooling effect (a nice, cool, tingling feeling) feels really refreshing (like a spa treatment!!) Technically, I guess the way it works is that since Prep H is supposed to "reduce swelling" of hemorroids, it is also successful in reducing the "swelling (puffiness)" under your eyes...... Karen
  12. Oats are controversial either way. Personally, I stopped using my Aveeno with oatmeal just because since it is a cream that goes on my hands, the possibility of my hands going in my mouth (licking my fingers after something yummy, for example) was too high. For cream for puffy eyes, can't see it doing any harm if you wash your hands thoroughly after applying...
  13. From DelphiList: Yoplait Yogurt (General Mills) (800-967-5248) (Open Original Shared Link) (ve=06/24/03) Gluten containing ingredients will be clearly listed. Aunt Jemima Syrup (Quaker) (800.407.2247) (vp=10/21/02) All varieties Looks like you are okay........ Karen
  14. I searched all over their website and couldn't find anything regarding whether or not their products contain gluten. I know in Canada, all Tylenol products are gluten-free (as per their Canadian Website). Sorry, can't be more help....... Hope your child feels better soon...... Karen
  15. I forget, are you in Canada or U.S.? Karen
  16. I would definitely get Annie checked. She is at the exact same age as I was when my problems started. Has she had a stressful event or illness that would have been the trigger? My pain at the beginning stages for me was exactly like that. I remember being at work, trying to walk to the bathroom, and holding onto the wall, doubled over in pain, not even...
  17. Hi Guys! I still have to wait until I hear from the GI specialist about the rest of the bloodwork (that apparently takes 6 - 8 weeks to come back because they are really obscure tests.....). I firmly believe that the prednisone had a positive effect on the celiac disease and my continuing problem is the collagenous colitis that we can't get under control...
  18. Can I have a piece too? Karen
  19. Here goes: 1) A Whopper from Burger King 2) Chinese food (I miss my Szchewan food!!!!!) I used to use 1/2 a bottle of soy sauce on my chinese food! 3) Black Forest cake. yum............ Karen
  20. Never heard of it - what is it? p.s. Hope all is well with you!! Karen
  21. Positive bloodwork (over 100) Positive biopsy (no villi left) Colonoscopy showed extensive collagenous colitis. Karen
  22. I can't help you with the c problem since mine is a chronic "d" problem, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your wonderful news!!!! I am very happy for you! Is this your first? Karen
  23. Hi Lisa! Got myself one heck of a head/chest cold. My head feels like it is going to explode and my chest feels like it has 50 lbs. on top of it...... Taking Tylenol Sinus and Buckley's Original Mixture. Apparently, I called the company and Buckley's original mixture is gluten free, thank God, since that stuff really works wonders and works quickly...
  24. If you do a search on this site with the search word "communion", you will notice that there are a few threads that are quite long and quite "spirited" regarding this subject!! LOL! Hugs. Karen
  25. Yep, American Smarties are gluten free but Canadian Smarties contain gluten. Go figure....... That's why I made sure I put in capital letters that there are some notations about some differences between U.S. and Canada....... Happy pigging out! Karen
