Canadian Karen replied to Corrine's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Hi BabySnooks! Don't worry, I am still trying to get used to this new format, and as for blogs, I won't even go there yet!!!! LOL! To start a new post (to ask a fresh question instead of just adding onto the end of another), first pick the forum category it would fit in, i.e. technical help, coping with, post-diagnosis..... Then, once you are... -

Hi Corrine! I can totally understand how you feel. I was in your shoes before also. But the more you are on the board and slowly get your feet wet by participating little by little, you will get more comfortable. I have gone from being terrified to post for fear of sounding stupid to now being a moderator..... If you are worried about making mistakes... -

Another product to mention is the one I made a mistake with: Gas-X Chewable Tablets are NOT gluten free!!! I was eating them like candy for my gas before I found out they weren't safe...... Karen -
Low iron levels can be an ongoing problem despite a gluten free diet. I have been anemic my whole life. I can remember as a child getting my finger pricked every week to get my blood tested and ALWAYS being on iron supplements. Since my celiac kicked in in my early 20's, absorbing iron has been quite difficult for me. I have found the I can absorb best...

ARCHIVED New-looking For Advice
Canadian Karen replied to elonwy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can't believe your doctor would say that........ Sheesh! When is the medical establishment going to wake up????? It is very possible for you to have celiac disease (positive bloodwork) but no damage showing on biopsy. There could be numerous reasons for this..... Perhaps the sections they biopsied were not damaged yet (damage can be quite "spotty... -

We had a Supertramp song as our wedding song "Downstream"...... Fleetwood Mac is also high on our list - we named our daughter Rhiannon!! Oldest daughter (who is 11) is into all the music that was out when I was growing up (I am 42). She loves AC/DC, U2, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard...... ARCHIVED Dieticians, Nutritionists..
Canadian Karen replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Seeing the nutritionist was a total waste of my time. (didn't waste any money since with the Canadian medical system, don't have to pay for it...) She knew nothing about celiac disease and all she did was pull out a pamphlet out of her binder, handed it over to me and said, "Here, this should help you......" Gee, thanks!!! By the time I went to see her... -
Everyone responds differently to the diet at first. Some report MAJOR improvements within a couple of weeks (sometimes even days!!), others take months. It all depends and on the amount of damage done (in other words, how many years did your celiac go undiagnosed and the damage was piling up.....) and also depends on how vigilant you are with the gluten...

ARCHIVED 'breakfast In America'
Canadian Karen replied to Ray H's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi! Welcome to the board!! I can't comment on what would be available in the States since I am Canadian (obviously, with my handle!!!). I just wanted to ask if you were a Supertramp fan..... your topic caught my eye right away when I saw the "Breakfast in America"...... lol!!! Karen -
Hi! Welcome to the board!!! Any questions you need to ask, go right ahead, there's a bunch of really helpful and knowledgeable people on this board. You say that you haven't been tested yet. If this means you haven't had the bloodwork done yet, make sure you continue eating gluten until the testing is done or else your results will not reflect the...

Hi! Yep, on my list Catalina Lite is okay. Also, Heinz ketchup is gluten free, so there is no need to search for a substitute. Here is a link to the delphi forums list which is quite comprehensive and broken down into convenient categories and is always up to date: Open Original Shared Link Have a whole bunch of scrambled eggs tomorrow!!!! ARCHIVED Kraft Ranch Salad Dressing
Canadian Karen replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am looking at my list now and Kraft Rancher's Choice, Creamy Cucumber Ranch, 3 Cheese Ranch, Peppercorn Ranch, Ranch with Bacon and Ultra Low Fat Ranch are gluten free. From the list that I have, it's the Caesar's that you have to stay away from and also the Catalina with Bacon. Karen -
My brain fog doesn't feel like a vice or anything like that...... Mine feels like a "numbness blanket" is wrapped around my head, and I just can't "feel" anything, or "think" anything...... I am just numb, almost as if I am not even "there"...... Karen

ARCHIVED Nice And Easy Hair Color
Canadian Karen replied to SueC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Nice and Easy with no problems..... but then again, since I have never suffered from any of the skin problem symptoms of celiac, I haven't scrutinized any of the hair colours. In fact, I usually use whichever one is on sale! But, again, if someone is supersensitive, I wouldn't recommend that...... Karen -
ARCHIVED Gummy Vites...gf?
Canadian Karen replied to anerissara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Gummy Vites...gf?
Canadian Karen replied to anerissara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Who is the manufacturer? I was looking on Delphi's list of OK vitamins, and I couldn't see anything called "Gummy Vites"...... Open Original Shared Link Maybe the manufacturer is listed on there as being totally gluten-free, that's why "Gummy Vites" are not mentioned specifically. I hope you weren't glutened........ Karen -
