  2. Although I have had to deal with this disease for many years now, I don't consider what I have to go through to be the worst of this disease. The people with the REAL strength here are the ones who are dealing with children who are celiac and the hell they have been through to get a diagnosis. All the moms and dads who have witnessed their children's health...
  3. Donna, that is such wonderful news!!!! Take one day at a time, that's all we can ask ourselves to do...... Hugs. Karen
  4. Yep, I think I reached a new daily record today. That's what happens when someone comes in to disturb the s**t instead of discuss the s**t. Karen
  5. lol Richard! Perhaps if he wants political bashing, he should come up to Canada. We seem to lead the free world in political bashing right now!!! LOL! Karen
  6. I think everyone needs a refresher course in board rules/guidelines: Do not be abusive or otherwise out of line towards other board members. Show respect for each board member, no matter what you think of their post(s). This is not a place to quarrel. mmm..gluten, we have a community here that helps one another, supports one another when one of us...
  7. Aw, come on, don't be such a hoser, eh? Better watch it, I just might storm out of my igloo and come lookin' for ya! Karen
  8. Hey mmm..gluten, if you're going to go, you might as well go in style, eh? LOL! Karen
  9. Thanks Bean! My four yr old twin boys are looking at me right now wondering why their mother is howling at the computer!!!! Karen
  10. Going out to restaurants is touch and go. Personally, I stick with restaurants that I know are knowledgeable about celiac and gluten. Outback Steakhouse is one. They have a gluten free menu, all you have to do is ask for it, let the waiter know you are celiac, and they are quite knowledgeable about what to do...... Here is a link: Open Original Shared...
  11. Nah, get a 24 of some good ol' Canadian beer. Lots of barley in those! (We would get better results with bottles then cans though, bottles can be nasty!) That would do the trick, eh? Karen
  12. The doubters really don't bother me so much. The way I look at it, if reading all the posts of all the hell we have gone through sheds some light on their knowledge of the dangers of the disease, then I am glad they are here.... A different perspective to look at it is this way. Take into consideration the philosophy of AA. If the people in AA didn...
  13. Excellent post, Tiffany....... Karen
  14. Let us know when the BBQ is! We'll be there!!!! lol! Karen
  15. There has been more than one person here that has made that comment. It really makes you wonder what is the lessor of two evils...... Those of us who have "built in gluten meters", pay the price every time we "get glutened", but then, for those who don't get symptoms when they ingest gluten, who knows years down the road, the price they pay just might...
  16. If it wasn't for meat, potatoes and rice, I would be dead by now!!! That is my main diet! Karen
  17. I honestly don't consider us "thin skinned or touchy" here on this forum. See, most of us here have taken quite a different road to diagnosis than yours. We struggled, suffered, endured, begged for help, etc. for years upon years before we found a doctor that was smart enough to figure it out. I would have given anything to have taken such an "easy road...
  18. mmm..gluten, forgot to mention something..... I LOVE YOUR PICTURE!!! Is that what you do really? Work with dolphins? My daughter would TOTALLY ENVY YOU!!! Last year, when she was asked what she wanted for her birthday, she said, "Find somewhere where I can swim with the dolphins!!!!"........ (Unfortunately, that was not possible!) Karen
  19. Okay, mmm..gluten, I was ready to jump all over you with that post as it seemed that you were ridiculing everyone one here who, out of necessity, takes celiac disease as seriously as they do because of their level of sensitivity. But after thinking about it for a few minutes, we have to remember that people who have not lived with this disease for a long...
  20. What kind of Mozzarella cheese was it? Which brand? Also, was it brick or pre-shredded? Karen
  21. What kind of cheese was it? What were the other ingredients you put on the pizza? Karen
  22. You need to talk to the expert. There is nobody better at baking and recipes than Mirielle. Mirielle can be found at www.delphiforums.com. You click on "Health & Wellness" on the left hand side, then the very first forum that pops up is the Celiac forum. Post to Mirielle about your problem. If anyone knows the answer, she will! She owns her...
  23. Thanks Jen! I just e-mailed them to get some info. Maybe this will help me..... Hugs. Karen
  24. Michelle, So glad you are home and it is over with and now you can start a whole new phase of your life! Get some rest now! Karen
  25. "I hope that wasn't too personal a question"........ That was so cute! My first thought was: After discussing in great detail the frequency, texture, smell, etc. etc. of our bowel movements, how much more personal can you get than that??? Asking someone about depression medication is NOTHING compared to that!!!! Karen
