Have you gone to the eye specialist to get it checked out? This is very important. Last year, the same thing happened to me, in my right eye. I was driving to my mom's with the kids when all of a sudden, I started to see a half moon of light on the edge of my eye, followed by tons of dots and stars all over my eye. Then it felt like a curtain went over...

When it is really bad, I just don't eat - I find that the easiest.... I do a 24 hour fast and that kind of settles it down a bit. Also, when I do start eating again, potatoes are my only safe food, it's the only thing I can eat that doesn't feel like nails going through my system....... Also, Immodium didn't absolutely nothing for me - the only thing... -

Canadian Karen replied to Spidey Sense's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi and welcome to the board!!!! Don't apologize for your story being long, believe me, we have all been down the long and winding road to diagnosis and well being. Many of us were on that road for many years before we got our answer...... It certainly sounds like celiac to me.... Slowly but surely, the medical establishment is realizing that... -

ARCHIVED Wellbutrin And Gluten?
Canadian Karen replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A scientist who didn't know what gluten was?? Now that's scary........ I wouldn't have too much faith in that company!! I know in Canada, there are only 4 drugs in total that contain gluten, I know Lomotil is one of them...... They are listed in some book that pharmacists have... Karen -

ARCHIVED Wellbutrin And Gluten?
Canadian Karen replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Beverly, I'm not sure where you are from, but I take Wellbutrin and I am in Canada. I know that in Canada, they are gluten free, but other countries may be different. I know that when I started the budesonide, I checked the company who made it and in Canada it's gluten free, but in the States, it is not..... Have you tried www.glutenfreedrugs... -

Canadian Karen replied to Chrissy in England's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Chris! Offended? No way! Believe me, we are quite used to these kinds of questions here and discussions of bowel movements are quite the norm here!! How long have you been on the gluten free diet? Everyone's system is different, some notice a major change in just a few weeks, others it takes 6 mos to a year. I can certainly talk in... -

Dying From Celiac?
Canadian Karen replied to SharonF's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Maybe he was on massive doses of vitamins and supplements due to his inability to absorb. Perhaps the "pills" he is talking about is actually vitamins and minerals. Regarding the tube in his stomach, I wonder if he had a colonoscopy (is that's what it's called when they remove part or all of your bowel and bypass it with a tube?). Perhaps he had many... -

ARCHIVED Who Needs A Breadmaker?
Canadian Karen posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi guys, I belong to a forum in www.todaysparent.com, a Canadian parenting magazine. We have a section called "Virtual Garage Sale" where we swap, sell, buy, etc. I stumbled upon this item and was wondering if anyone would be interested in it.... Open Original Shared Link It sounds like she hasn't used it - and for $15.00, what a steal! (Too bad... -
ARCHIVED Calling All Catholics
Canadian Karen replied to christicrete's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Christie, I also have chosen not go partake in the taking of the host anymore. I am of the belief that "a little bit of gluten" here, and "a little bit of gluten there" add up to an amount that is not acceptable. Also, I don't feel comfortable drinking the wine for fear of cross-contamination (a quick swipe with a hanky doesn't do much in my eyes... -
I find no difference in frequency from before or after gluten-free. I get them the same. I get alot of the migraines that are migraines, but not really the pain - i.e. the flashing lights like neon signs shaped like a half moon on the outer sides of my vision, nausea, etc. Other times, I get just the "plain old migraine"..... Never the two together...

ARCHIVED Quite Disheartening....
Canadian Karen replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, let me tell ya, "cranky" is not the word I would use to describe myself the last few days - more along the lines of miserable , angry , argumentative , sullen , in other words, I have been just a joy to be around the last few days!!! Very quick to temper, which is usually not me at all..... Also, one thing that surprises me, the doctor told...
