  1. Thanks, Moving On..... I am torn whether or not to use it, I am in so much pain and hubby went and got this. He got the liquid because he thought the gels are more likely to have gluten in them...... I have had this all day long and I am about to lose my mind! Everything was fine yesterday. Woke up this morning, and the whole right side of my mouth...
  2. I can't get into delphi to check their list and www.glutenfreedrugs.com doesn't list this so I need to know: is Orajel Maximum Strength Liquid gluten free? I have a toothache that is so bad I am THIS CLOSE to ripping my face off!!!! Thanks! Karen
  3. I don't see a problem at all with what you did. I think it was a nice gesture, actually.... You did mention that they knew you were Celiac, therefore, even if the though ever did enter into their mind "Why didn't she eat them?", they should immediately remember, "Oh yeah, I forgot, she has Celiac Disease and CAN'T eat them"..... They are lawyers, aren...
  4. What a bunch of masochists we have in this forum. What torture, watching someone make some delicious food that 9 times out of 10, you can't have!!!! Karen
  5. Always remember that a basic, no nonsense gluten free diet is 10 times better for you than a highly varied non-gluten free diet. If you have time constraints, then basic gluten free (toast with peanut butter, fruits, vegetables, salad, rice, etc. etc.) should win over a gluten meal anytime.... even if it means you lose on the variety of things you can have...
  6. You might be celiac if: You have had to explain the difference between gluten and glutton several times.... I have been asked more than once how my glutton diet is going..... lol! What, me? a pig? *snort* Karen
  7. Richard has a point.... From everything that I have read regarding babies and celiac, the celiac does not show up until the four month interval when cereals are introduced...... Karen
  8. Hi Lisa Ann, We BBQ alot at our house.... My husband knows though that ONLY gluten free stuff can go onto the grill. Steaks, gluten-free hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. etc. Also, I put a tin foil container with mushrooms, green peppers and onions with gluten-free margarine, salt and pepper, covered with aluminum foil, on the grill also. My husband knows...
  9. What you are experiencing is typical, I think..... Keep on reminding yourself that it took years of gluten damaging your system to get you to this point and it is not going to turn around overnight..... There will be good days, bad days, days where you wonder if it is worth the hassle, days where you will thank your lucky stars you went gluten free...
  10. Also, when you have the medical establishment drilling it over and over again into your head that it is just "all in your head", the fact that you can read other people's posts and feel that they are posting exactly what you are experiencing just reinforces your confidence that you are in fact not crazy. Karen
  11. When I first joined, I was comforted by the "me too" posts, actually..... It felt really reassuring to be in an environment where other people posted that they were going through the same things I was. I didn't feel so isolated........ It made me realize that I wasn't losing my mind afterall...... Karen
  12. Well, it started out as having to do with celiacs, but it has kinda evolved, eh? I think it should be okay where it is....... Karen
  13. Oh Stef, My mom just absolutely adores Chuck Norris! She has seen every Chuck Norris film, every Walker, Texas Ranger, everything he has been in! Karen
  14. Okay, Scott, we promise to keep it light so this thread won't go *POOF* ! Karen
  15. From the Canadian Junior Dictionary: lib-er-al: 1. generous: a liberal giver (Yep, got that one right!!!!) 2. plentiful; abundant; a liberal supply(Yeah, of our money!) 3. broadminded; not narrow in one's ideas: a liberal thinker 4. not limited; broad 5. a person favourable to progress and reforms Karen
  16. Yep, that's our motto. You ask away any question you want - no question is too silly or stupid...... especially where Celiac Disease is involved...... I never have worried about paper towels myself - although I must say that I am careful not to use the last one that has any residuals of the glue on it...... Karen
  17. Maybe Ontario is finally going to wake up!!!! One can hope, eh? When I think of the fact that my 93 yr old grandmother, whose husband went overseas to fight in World War II for us to enjoy the freedom we now have, worked her whole life paying taxes, and is currently living on a meager pension which ALL goes towards paying her monthly bill for...
  18. I think our government has taken politics to a whole new low...... The paper trail is being unfolded day by day - it seems that it was a free-for-all for anyone who wanted it - money was handed out to them like candy...... Example: invoices submitted for work done on Olympic stadiums that don't even exist!!! Duh! And it is promising to get better...
  19. Oooooooh, don't mention "liberal" to anyone who is Canadian right now...... not a good idea....... If anyone is following any Canadian politics lately, the Liberals (our government) is in DEEP DOO DOO, knee deep in scandal. It seems that everyone and their neighbour and brother who was Liberal has lined their bank accounts at our expense - basically...
  20. Debmidge, That was a good one! Thanks for making me laugh!!! Karen
  21. Oh well, look on the bright side....... They could have the same rules and laws as the Taliban............ Karen
  22. I agree, celiac3270, it is a good idea....... I hope you are right about more posts from the lurkers. I think the more input, the better for all of us...... Karen
  23. Hi Anja! Welcome to the board! I know the gluten free diet can seem so overwhelming at first, but really, once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature..... You already have an advantage due to the fact that you already follow a certain regimen regarding your daughter's diet, so you just need to "modify" that a bit...... Any questions...
  24. I agree, Abby. The God I believe in and the God I thank every day for my blessings would not want me to intentionally poison myself. He would rather I do everything in my power to care for myself so I will be around to guide, raise and nurture the children he chose to bless me with. After all, all my children are gifts from Him. Karen
  25. Hi Beverly, I think the fact that you have had such a positive response to the gluten free diet would be enough for me to accept the fact that I have Celiac Disease. Remember, when they do biopsies, they take biopsies from various sections but that does not guarantee that if there is damage, they are going to hit the right spots. From what I have read...
