  1. Open Original Shared Link This one works great!! I like to add 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon cloves for a nice spice cake. Also, I bake them at 300F instead. They seem to cook better--Oh, and DO NOT over cook! They will dry out. If you want to try chocolate, substitute cocoa powder for some of the flour... Good...
  2. Open Original Shared Link Some are high fat... All are gluten-free/DF. She should love the Poori (everyone does!!) Enjoy! Connie
  3. azza, Most of the time I am out of those things too... I usually just use straight rice flour, oil, milk, and baking powder--and it works fine! The other things aren't really necessary, they just are nice. Enjoy your pizza!! Connie P.s. Do you live in Dubai, or are you ...visiting? Open Original Shared Link
  4. RaeAnn, I'm glad you liked it! The bean flour gives it a(n) unique earthy taste. When I'm out of bean flour, I just use plain rice flour! Jen- Maybe I should ask if you were the Jen who asked about the pizza and beer in the first place! This is the pizza crust I made for our local celiac group. They liked it, too! Who said celiacs can...
  5. PS. Jen, Did I respond to your correct email address? I wasn't quite sure! Connie
  6. You're welcome! Hey, I made this the other day and must have loaded on too many toppings because the crust was underdone and doughy.... --but, it still held up its shape. I may try prebaking the crust a bit to see if that helps or make the crust thinner! Recipe perfection is an ongoing pleasure. ("What, you're making pizza again? Well, okay...
  7. We don't use canola oil. I've heard both that it is fine and that it is cross-contaminated... Either way, we avoid it. Years ago, when I did eat it, it didn't agree with me. It did feel like a gluten reaction... But, last month we ate several boxes of Panda Puffs--with canola oil--and we were all fine. I'm leaning towards the cross-contamination...

  9. Jessicasns17, Yes, cosmetics, lotions, soaps and bodywashes can contain gluten, too! You just have to read labels. Look for "Hydrolized Wheat Protien" and avoid it... No matter what I used on my skin, I inadvertantly get some in my mouth at one time or another! So, I steer clear of gluten in my bath products... And, Lipsticks can contain...
  10. corryne, I went with my friend for HER ultrasound, and she explained to her OBGYN about my miscarriages and that I had just tested positive on a home preg test(I was about 2 weeks pregnant--I usually miscarried at 3-4 weeks), and he ordered blood tests for me on the spot. He wasn't even my doctor! The next day his office called and had me go immediately...
  11. Connie's Perfect Pizza (2 cups total flour for a large 15 1/2"X 11 1/2" rectangular pan, or 1 cup total flour for a 8" round pizza pan.) 2 c. Garbonzo Bean flour (works Great!) Or, 1 1/2c. rice flour and 1/2 c. tapioca flour. 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) cold butter 1/2-1c. milk (give or take) 1/4 tsp....
  12. ...Whenever my son had a gluten ingestion insident--until he was 2-3 years old, he would always get a 103F fever for 3 days.... That was our "cold of gluten"! Connie
  13. It occured to me that Celiac doesn't control my life!!--I do! My whole family has been gluten-free for 6 years now, and now it is no problem for me/us to shop in regular stores, eat out, go to parties, go on trips, have a gluten-free hospital stay (we just had our 2nd little Silly Yak!!),bring snacks for a group, and pack daily gluten-free snack...
  14. Hi Gillian, I agree with Terri on checking into the hamburger. Places like Walmart put in questionable flavorings.... And, in his younger years, my husband worked in a grocery store's meat department. His boss would regurally add bread crumbs to the 70% hamburger!!!! Can you imagiane?!!!! I don't remember which store, but any could do something...

  16. Thank you everyone!! We're soooo proud!! He's the best little guy ever! Valen doesn't spit up or cry non-stopped (only when he's mad!), he sleeps all night, and on his 1 week check-up, he gained 6 ounces over his birth weight! (they give them 2 weeks to come back up to their birth weight.) The doc was really impressed with how alert and...
  17. It works great for me, probably because I was never taught... Kinda a happy blunder (You should see how I make a cheese sauce!! ) The mayo doesn't seperate, lasts for days, but you do need a high speed hand mixer. Thanks for all your input! Connie
  18. Hi Mariann, Sorry it's taken me soo long to get back to you! I had my baby last week--a beautiful boy! Thanks kejohe for the recipie ideas! They look great! I usually just use one whole egg and about a cup+ of sunflower oil for the basic recipe. The main thing is to get a lot of air into the mix by slowly pumping the hand blender up and...
  19. Cheer up, Kerri124!! Of course you can!! I've had 5 miscarriages in as many years... after going gluten free--damn hidden glutens! But, last week I gave birth to the most beautifu baby boy!! The tricky part was avoiding hidden glutens--they caused several miscarriages for me. "No new foods!" has been my motto for the past 9 months! ...
  20. I've had that feeling, on and off, years ago when I was not gluten-free, and before I had kids. I never thought too much about it.... Hmmm...? Did kinda put a dampner on things!! Connie
  21. Congratulations, scribble! "...i'm actually craving many forbidden foods -- mcdonalds cheeseburgers, pizza, etc..." Maybe you just need more fat in your diet!! I used to crave bacon! It was the only fatty food I ate... Good luck! Connie ~ 9 months and 5 days...and still waiting!

  25. Is being more sensitive a good thing?? Well, if it keeps you from contaminating yourself, then "Yes!" If it keeps you from eating the things you love (that are contaminated), then "Yes!" --cause you'll still be healthier! Connie --being extremely sensitive keeps me on the straight and narrow!! (sometimes I wish I could cheat, but I'm...
