ARCHIVED Why Does Gluten-free Improve Autism?
veggienft posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I just visited Doug Kaufmann's Friday video: Open Original Shared Link At about 9 minutes Kaufmann interviews nurse Linda May (sp?). Nurse May cites some research implicating "teratogens" as a possible cause of autism. Open Original Shared Link "TERATOGEN?!!!!" ........I said. What the heck is "teratogen". So I did a little research. Teratogen... -
ARCHIVED Inability To Properly Absorb Water?
veggienft replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
P.S. The people you claimed to have seen in ICU's in comas from ketosis are not in that condition, as you claimed, from starving their brains of sugar. They are there from too-high ketone levels, usually caused by diabetic ketoacidosis. Diet-induced ketosis does not cause that. Those people all have plenty of blood sugar to feed their brains. .. -
ARCHIVED Inability To Properly Absorb Water?
veggienft replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
According to the American Diabetes Association medium and high blood and urine ketone concentrations are harmful. That condition usually comes from diabetic ketoacidosis, not fat-ingestion localized ketosis. We all enter localized LOW-LEVEL ketosis when we sleep at night and when we exercise. It's a normal condition. Low-level ketosis is a symptom... -
ARCHIVED Can You Have Celiac With No Symptoms Whatsoever?

I'm very sorry for your lost children. There are many people with intestinal celiac disease, but no symptoms of any kind. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link But you DO have celiac symptoms. You just don't have digestive symptoms. You have miscarriages. ARCHIVED Do I Say I'm Gluten Intolerant Or Celiac?
veggienft replied to Terbie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Medical science states what it knows, and not what it does not know. Medical science has identified antibodies created by people with specific DQ gene patterns which yield the intestinal atrophy characteristic of intestinal celiac disease. Most Doctors recognize these genetics and no others as "celiac" disease. Are there other gene patterns which yield... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Sugar Cravings
veggienft replied to samcarter's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is purely theoretical, but I'd bet you're a fledgling diabetic. Gluten is an opioid. It mimics human endorphin. Again ......theoretical: Gluten plugs into the nerve cells interspersed in the pancreas islet cell. It fools the pancreas into chemically thinking the muscles are in fight-or-flight mode. The pancreas responds with a constant flood... -

ARCHIVED Inability To Properly Absorb Water?

Yolo, hangininthere, jestgar and rice guy all have it nailed. It's the potassium. Like other celiacs here, I'm on a no-sugar, almost-no-fruit candida diet. I can't tolerate high sugar, or high salicilate fruits like blueberries, bananas and oranges. That makes it VERY difficult to get potassium. I exist on that fine line which you encounter occasionally... -
.....may be a cholinesterase shortage. That would mean a sluggish liver. Try going off chlorinated tap water. Drink only purified water for two to three weeks. See if that helps. If it helps, buy a water purifier, either reverse osmosis or a batch distiller. ..

ARCHIVED Headaches
veggienft replied to samcarter's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Speaking of Ibuprofen: A couple of studies showed proper-dose ibuprofen to cause intestinal bleeding among average users. I used to take ibuprofen regularly. Now that the celiac diet is working I buy the ibuprofen caplets, the kind your supposed to take two of, and I cut them in thirds. I take a third only when I absolutely have to ......maybe... -
ARCHIVED Let's Play "find The Cause"
veggienft replied to skinnyasparagus's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You're correct. I should have stated "at least some" celiac reactions are reactions to candida. I represent one. The title poster, because of his/her symptoms, most likely represents another. I suspect that all celiac reactions are reactions to candida, and that for some, removing gluten removes enough antigen to control the reaction ....at least for now... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Hunger Attacks!
veggienft replied to nadz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Before I get corrected again, let me describe hypoglycemia. Literally "hypoglycemia" means low blood sugar. Nobody who eats sugar or starch, except maybe pancreatic cancer patients, has chronically low blood sugar. In practice hypoglycemia is the term used to describe wide blood sugar swings like yours which periodically swing to low blood sugar. ..... -

Blueberries? I second the fructose advice which Georgie gave, and I'll add one more. .......Salicylates. Blueberries have fructose and salicylates. Salicylates are dyes, like the violet dye in blueberries. I can't eat blueberries. Here's the model. Celiac is the result of an immune attack against the fungus candida albicans. Fungus has the unique... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Hunger Attacks!

You can survive on a blood sugar level near zero. Getting calories from fat ingestion is healthier. The advice given you so far is excellent and curative. Stop eating sweets. If you continue eating starchy foods such as corn and rice, your body converts them to blood sugar ......but at a regulated pace. If cutting out sweets doesn't cure your symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Arrhythmia
veggienft replied to mirabella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You need doctors when you are sick, bleeding, or have cancer, or a broken bone. A large portion of doctors don't consider it their responsibility to cure you from constantly feeling bad. Your doctor obviously falls into this category. The second doctor you tried to see also falls into this category, or falls under the control of your first doctor. Many... -
ARCHIVED Arrhythmia
veggienft replied to mirabella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I tend to Wolf Parkinson White ventricular short cycles when I slip off my diet. But on my diet I was getting similar symptoms to yours, including athletes brachychardia. That's where you stand up, miss a beat or two, and get dizzy. So I challenged some of the foods I was eating. The result? My on-diet heart arrhythmia was caused by mint, especially... -

Have you tried a sugar-free, gluten-free diet? I'm older now, and my mother is gone. She was a paranoid schizophrenic. I was just a kid, and knew nothing about her ongoing female troubles, but about five years into her schizophrenia diagnosis she was bleeding so bad that she had to have an hysterectomy. ARCHIVED Cancer - - A Fungus?..........
veggienft replied to elye's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I know you're right too. The question in these posts is, is candida fungus a cause of automunity and cancer. Clearly the answer is yes. Lots of the cited information is hypothesis and clues which narrow the possibilities. The operative questions are, 1)What candida roll is pretty certain and 2) What can we do about it. I'm not gonna cite the same... -

I just watched the video ......Very interesting! Dr. Simoncini brings up an interesting point about fungus genetics. Fungi survive in colonies, with literally hundreds of genetic codes. ARCHIVED Gluten And Latex Paint?
veggienft replied to rmducote's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
All latex paints are not equal. I had never reacted to latex paint before last year. I bought some Valspar Signature paint from Lowes, and painted with it. It smelled strong and strange. I had a bad allergic reaction to it when I applied it. I was forced to ventillate the area heavily. .. -
The dichotomy of your relatives' symptoms parallel the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is, or can be, gluten protein mimicking endorphin. Gluten plugs into the pancreas nerve cells. The immune system attacks and kills the nerve cells and surrounding islet cells, recognizing them as having been compromised by an invading...

ARCHIVED Cancer - - A Fungus?..........
veggienft replied to elye's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Dr. Simoncini's hypothesis is that all cancers are made of candida albicans fungus. From the articles I've read Dr. Simoncini's evidence lies in his ability to cure any cancer by treating the candida. If that's true, his evidence is not proof that candida makes up all cancer. It's proof that candida is required support for all cancer. That means candida... -
ARCHIVED Can Ssris Stop Celiac Symptoms

ARCHIVED Can Ssris Stop Celiac Symptoms
veggienft replied to Gutbomb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
.....last I checked it was true. I've read doctors advising people to get antifungal drugs for their canididiasis. But I've also read followup from lots of people complaining that the candidiasis always comes back. If you have new info, I'm all ears. Here's a site which tends to under-represent how many men get candidiasis, but it's a pretty good explanation...
