ARCHIVED Which Comes First - The Celiac Or The Diabetes?
veggienft replied to AliB's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I believe it starts with leaky gut .......from candida yeast. The yeast infects a body system, and the body makes an antibody for it. In some of us the yeast antibody also responds to wheat gluten. So when these people eat glutenous grain, their guts fill with tissue transglutaminase, DQ monomers and zonulin. The resulting intestinal tissue attack is... -
ARCHIVED Chest Pain/burning
veggienft replied to dianemck's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I got upper chest pain, tiredness, shortness of breath, even bradychardia weeks after going gluten free. I dropped tomatoes and peppers, and it all went away. ......nightshades. I cant' say your problem is the same as mine, but it could be. Are you still eating sugar? Have you started eating probiotics? I think dropping gluten takes away a large... -
ARCHIVED What Types Of Cancer Does Gluten Cause?
veggienft replied to Aleshia's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can't say you're wrong. Beans make me much sicker, much faster, than wheat. Maybe like the big bear said, it's all lectins. We've just got a lot of genetic research on gliadin. I lean toward the transition trigger being a lectin because gliadin's zonulin flood and associated gut purges into the bloodstream are documented. I'm guessing the hypoglycemia... -
ARCHIVED What Types Of Cancer Does Gluten Cause?
veggienft replied to Aleshia's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
There are two types of autoimmune disease: A. The immune system recognizes "self" tissue as a mimicking invader, and attacks it. B. The immune system fails to recognize mimicking invaders. Autoimmune type B is cancer, and it's age related. I believe people progress from type A to type B because the body sees that it's destroying its own tissue. ... -
ARCHIVED Diabetes And Celiac
veggienft replied to dollamasgetceliac?'s topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just because some people who end up with type 2 diabetes pass through a "hypoglycemic" stage doesn't mean everyone with hypoglycemia is going to get type 2. There are probably just as many hypoglycemics who don't get type 2. Hypoglycemia would mean low blood sugar. But that's not the diagnostic criteria. Anybody who's blood sugar fluctuates is "hypoglycemic... -
ARCHIVED Bad Taste And Blurry Vision
veggienft replied to donnal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Describe the taste. I used to get a breath smell. It smelled like when I've caught whiffs of chlorine and ammonia ......ammonium chloride, a deadly combination. I also had blurred vision. It went away with my diet. But my diet eliminates gluten, raw milk, sweets, fruit, chlorine and (thanks to contributors here) nightshades. .. -
ARCHIVED Alba Announces Phase Iia Results
veggienft replied to ENF's topic in Publications & Publicity
Am I reading that wrong, or did the phase 2 trials essentially fail? If so, it's too bad. I had a lot of hope. On the other hand, the writeup makes it appear the trial made Alba realize they designed it incorrectly, and that Alba will return with the fix. In other words the phase 2 trial was not fully capable of testing the drug. .. -
ARCHIVED Is Hypothermia A Symptom?
veggienft replied to Aleshia's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Apparently chronic low body temperature is called Wilson's Syndrome, and it's consistent with celiac disease: Open Original Shared Link I researched Mononucleosis recently. Apparently most people who get it don't get sick. The problems come when Epstein Barr goes systemic. It crosses the blood/brain barrier. It attacks nerves all over the body, including... -

ARCHIVED Diabetic ?
veggienft replied to dollamasgetceliac?'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No, that's not right. There's no reason to theorize some new human protein for gliadin to mimic. We produce endorphin upon exertion. The body could monitor endorphin levels to find out if insulin is needed to shut down muscle consumption. The body sees a flood of blood gliadin, mistakes it for endorphin, as a sign of muscle consumption, and responds with... -
ARCHIVED Diabetic ?
veggienft replied to dollamasgetceliac?'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I thought that article was extremely interesting. Like you, I try to solve a few unsolved medical mysteries, and type 2 diabetes is one of them. I came up with a theory which attempts to utilize a natural function. People have a built-in fight-or-flight response. Normally muscles use adrenalin to convert adjacent fat into sugar, then they feed off the... -
Open Original Shared Link I am one of the people for whom candidiasis and celiac are the same disease. Candida albicans is a fungus which displays the same protein chain on its surface as the immune-critical portion of gliadin. In the gut candida thrives in the presence of sugar. It presents with inflamation and diarrhea. Candida has a dormant...

ARCHIVED Eye Misalignment

Apparently the answer is ..........Usually. Here's how I understand it. Wheat gluten's active ingredient is the gliadin protein. The autoimmune reaction to gliadin in the gut causes the gut to produce a protein called zonulin. Zonulin makes membranes permeable. Gliadin makes the gut-blood barrier permeable. So the permeable gut walls empty gliadin and zonulin into the bloodstream. In the bloodstream...

ARCHIVED Doctor Thinks I Have Celiac - Odd Symptoms
veggienft replied to Darkfox021's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here's something I to put together for myself. You may pay heed or ignore it. It's your body. Celiac is an autoimmune disease. If the erosion of the small intestine was caused directly by gluten then the severity would be proportional to the amount of gluten ingested. However, celiac intestine erosion is not caused directly by gluten. It is caused by antibodies... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Thinks I Have Celiac - Odd Symptoms
veggienft replied to Darkfox021's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry, I disagree. It doesn't take 10 minutes reading these pages to come to the unmistakable conclusion that current tests are useless. Otherwise, how could the celiac diet be producing these astounding results in people who test negative? The question is, do you have the disease characterized by wheat making you ill? And the answer is supposed to come... -
We have sinuses surrounding the nose, above and below the eyes. I got frequent nosebleeds, gushers, before I isolated their locations, their causes, and started treating them. My nosebleeds were scabs, and probably constant infections, where my lower sinuses enter the bottoms of my nasal passages. I think that's where most people's nosebleeds originate. ...

ARCHIVED Diabetic ?

This is my experience. I craved sweets until I stopped ingesting them. But that should be no surprise. Every addictive substance is the cause of its own craving. Stop ingesting the substance, and you'll stop craving the substance. Have you tried not ingesting sweets? .........including fruit? You can get the same nutrient value through other carbohydrates... -
ARCHIVED Could I Be Celiac?
veggienft replied to mhb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have always run for exercise, with periodic re-dedications. As I grew older my stamina waned, and muscle and joint pain got in the way. I was forced through shortness of breath and fatigue to successively shorten my running distance, and run less often. If I hadn't been running, I probably wouldn't have even noticed these things. I thought they were... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
veggienft replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Look around you right now. How much of the stuff you see is edible? Why do you expect to be able to eat the stuff you think of as "food"? What makes you think it's "food"? For any of us, there's an entire world of inedible stuff. The things which make most of us expect to be able to eat the things we want are social paradigms .......expectations inserted... -
ARCHIVED I Feel Like I Have Failed My Son
veggienft replied to LIZARD's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've thought a lot about the issue of failure and guilt. At last count roughly 22 percent of Euro-types carry a single celiac gene. It makes them prone to "silent celiac", or celiac-related autoimmune disease. Roughly eleven percent of us carry two celiac genes. It makes us prone to intestinal celiac and silent celiac. People who carry two genes are generally... -

If anybody wants to tell me how to make the above jpg image appear, I'm all ears ........so to speak. So view it, click it, or paste it to your address bar. ARCHIVED Muscle/joint Pain After 6 Years Gluten Free
veggienft replied to frec's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
A close relative had terrible joint pain and cartilage destruction. She was surfing through an internet bulletin board, and read a post from somebody who had identical symptoms. The poster had cured his symptoms by eliminating ibuprophen. My relative had been taking increasingly large doses of ibuprophen. She stopped taking Ibuprophen. The joint pain went... -

ARCHIVED What Could Be Causing These Symptoms
veggienft replied to lynne1978's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I find myself highly intolerant of guar and zanthum. Normally breads get their solid-yet-airy consistency from gluten. It's an extremely long-chain protein. To make breads without gluten, cooks have to add something to replace that quality. Usually they use guar jelly and/or zanthum gum. I can't tollerate either one. Eating substitute breads didn't...
