  1. You could do a challenge. A tiny amount of barley might not be enough (although it sounds like you did react some). Eat a bagel and see what happens. Or dont challenge and just keep on with your healthier lifestyle.
  2. My post seems to be missing......o.k. Liquid Chlorophyll is great for this!
  3. Welcome! Not knowing your financial situation, if you can afford it, there are many ready to go options. This bakery ships. The bread is super yummy and some better than gluten breads. The sandwich bread is regular size. They bake to order and ship. It will be fresh when it arrives. They put wax paper between the slices so you can freeze them and...
  4. Or if she keeps responding pos. to the diet, then you can get the genetic tests. To me....if she has the genes and the diet works...then she is Celiac and no need for an endoscopy or worry over "false negatives". But that is just me.
  5. I let me 12 yo fill them with whatever she likes. I keep little tins of salmon and tiny shrimp. She then adds shredded lettuce, carrots, etc. Avacado is good. Could do a tex mex wrap with beans, lettuce, salsa, etc. Really anything can go in them. They dont have any flavor on their own. You can even fry them and make them crispy after wrapped...
  6. And sometimes you feel sick cuz Doritos are a fake food and full of chemicals.
  7. Like you I am having fund experimenting with the coconut. Have come up with a yummy custard desert with little cookies made from almond flour......yummy!
  8. Hi Marlena, No I do not believe I am "allergic" to all of these foods. I think my body just isnt digesting them well at the moment. I am working on healing my gut and my deficiencies. Vitamin D is already back in the normal range. And I am working on Iron right now. I will never eat GLUTEN again. I think it is very damaging to the body even...
  9. I bought some from Amazon. The company sent me 40 bags instead of 4 by accident (but only charged me for 4). I called. But they didnt speak english very well. So I just have them. I will never run out......LOL
  10. Hi Melinda, Having a baby is always a leap of faith. We never know what the outcome will be. Even if we did everything PERFECTLY things can still go wrong. And some women who do everything WRONG have perfectly healthy babies. My suggestion would be to make sure you are 100% gluten free for a good 6 months to a year BEFORE you get pregnant. During...
  11. I know it is hard. And I am sure you really want to get well. So the easiest thing to do...well the best thing....is to eat very simply foods that are easiest to digest: plain meats, veggies, fruits, eggs, pure spices, squashes, root veggies for starches. Stay away from grains, dairy and legumes for a little while (soy and peanuts). Then after you...
  12. This EXACT thing happened to my Mom. Only she had already developed cancer. But they took out her entire thyroid and so far....so good. You may have to self Dx like a lot of us. See what your self ordered tests reveal. But be prepared to try the gluten free diet. You will not know unless you do.
  13. I grew up in Bradenton/Sarasota. Hubby's parents have a condo there 1/2 the year. So we visit often. Tell of the good gluten-free restaurants down there?????
  14. I sure hope so. I tried to eat there about 2 months ago. The only thing I could eat was a salad and their honey mustard dressing. Luckily I came prepared with some chopped turkey breast and and some gluten-free crackers. So I got the salad....dumped my turkey on it and used my own dressing. So a few gluten-free items would be very nice.
  15. With those numbers you should ask to see a GI doc and get a biopsy. Dont go gluten free until you get that biopsy. And consider genetic testing as well.
  16. If you are are a Celiac and it doesnt sound like you have had all of the testing yet. And BTW being gluten free will make your tests inaccurate for Celiac most likely. But if you are....then it can take time for your villi to heal and during that time you can become more sensitive to foods. You may also have dysbiosis going on with too many bad bacteria...
  17. Welcome back! Yes, Thyroid can be related to Celiac. The diet helps some, but not everyone with their thyroid. You need: TSH Free T3 Free T4 And all of the thyroid antibodies You should also have them check your adrenal gland function Hope you feel better soon.
  18. Personally, for the first 2 or 3 months I would only eat simple meats, veggies (fresh and frozen), fruits, eggs, pure spices, plain nuts & seeds (read the labels). Eating out is too risky at first. I learned the hard way......
  19. Search "Glutenese" in the forums....same thing. Not saying you cant take it, but you shouldnt rely on it or think it will keep you from being damaged. It wont.
  20. This sounds yummy...bet it would work with shrimp too.
  21. This is an ongoing debate.....Im not going to beat a dead horse...or a live one for that matter.
  22. That was a riot. You might as well laugh at these types of things......it beats crying.
  23. I think I would remember "disappearing kids". I have a very sharp memory. Sometimes I wish it wasnt so sharp. I remember a girl broke both of her arms in 2nd grade. I even remember her name: Tammy Mosier. Why do I remember her name when we werent even friends. I was pretty aware of what was going on around me in schools. I lived in a smaller community...
  24. I found this online. And a few threads that said they actually have a gluten-free menu. Still...take some of your own food in your purse just in case: Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy located on University Drive offers a few gluten-free items on their menu. Their staff is well-trained and understands the specifics needs of a gluten-intolerant customer....
  25. Most restaurants will allow you to bring a dessert from home like a birthday cake. Just call ahead. Explain Gluten Free. Bring your own gluten-free cake. They will be happy to provide the plates and silverware. Especially for a party that is ordering foods and drinks. Ask what brand of ice cream they serve and if it is gluten free, that can be served...
