  1. Gee and all this time I thought you were gluten-free forever. You really need to write a cookbook with all those great, interesting, wonderful, delicious, creative, descriptive...etc...etc...etc...etc...etc...recipes!
  2. Couldn't you just use broth or rice milk and the cream soup base but leave out the milk powder if you can't find a different alternative? Wouldn't it be like a white sauce that way? Have you tried Better Than Milk? I think its a rice milk powder, our store doesn't have it. Anyone else have any ideas???
  3. Personally, I love Lasagna or Spaghetti. The smell is wonderful. You could have a tossed salad. There is a french bread recipe on here that is good too. Don't forget dessert. Hot fudge on ice cream with brownies. Next favorite is enchiladas, rice, beans and (warmed) tortilla chips on the side, with all the "taco" fixins to choose from. Just like you get...
  4. So I finally bought some agave nectar. I know you can sub it for honey or maple syrup. But what I would like to know is exactly what you like to do with it...what is your favorite way to use it? Thanks for the ideas.
  5. There is an all u can eat pizza place about 4 hours from my house (we buzz down there all the time ). They make one called Idahoan. I forget what's on it. Hashbrowns for sure and bacon. They are very creative! The dessert pizza looks fabulous but I never tried it 'cause I was too full already.
  6. eatingglutenfree.com homepage recipes soups cream soup base Do you click in that order? I don't know how to get to it directly (Sweetfudge might know ). Our health food store has 3 non dairy dry milk powder substitutes. I am holding out to find Vance's Dairy Free, someone suggested it on another post, but haven't found any yet.
  7. Hey, we skipped the cheese and added hashbrowns, they stick to the sauce and taste good too...the shredded look like cheese..Ha Ha! Similar taste to french fries and ketchup. My dd loved it on that same pizza crust we talked about in the earlier post.
  8. I found some Lara bars so I bought one for my dd. I would like to know which is the best/worst flavor so I don't have to waste any time/money trying them all...I had no idea there were so many flavors! Thanks!! I got her the chocolate and coconut one. Is the coffee one good?
  9. recipezaar#300324 has a recipe for vegan chocolate frosting. You might be able to get creative and make different flavors with it like vanilla or peanut butter. I used to make a frosting with 1 cup milk, 1 sm. box instant (any flavor)pudding and 8oz. coolwhip... but I don't know if that will suit your needs. Whisk milk & pudding, fold in topping....
  10. Ok. I have to say , b/c I never really liked waffles, I haver never popped them in the toaster before. Well I tried it today with this recipe. WOW! No butter, jam, syrup or anything. Great right out of the toaster...I will do it again. Just thought I would pass it on. mmmmmm
  11. Eatting gluten free.com has a recipe called "cream soup base". I use it often esp. for the Rotel King Ranch Chicken Enchiladas from killthegluten.blogspot.com. I add a can of beans to the recipe. For the base, I mix up a tub to have on hand, then add in onion flakes, garlic flakes, Mrs.Dash, pepper flakes, black pepper, etc. When I make the soup , I use...
  12. Wow...great tips...thanks to all!!!
  13. Be sure to take probiotics anytime you take antibiotics.
  14. I do most of my baking now with sorghum. Here is the flour mix I use: Carol's Flour Blend 1 1/2 cups sorghum 1 1/2 cups potato starch or corn starch 1 cup tapioca flour I use this mix instead of a rice flour blend. I use it for scones, cookies, cakes, brownies, sweet breads, muffins and part of the flour called for in yeast breads. Its my...
  15. We live in the mountains of Idaho. This is the first year I got to pick them. I hope to go get some more tomorrow to throw in the freezer for more waffles. So much better than blueberries, in my opinion anyway, and they are so cute! The sad thing is its over an hour to the nearest health food store and no whole foods or trader joes. I find something...
  16. The ground meat should be cooked. You may need more tomatoes/salsa for flavor and liquid. If using chicken strip tenders, just layer them on top. You could add some salsa/tomatoes on top of the chicken so it doesn't dry out. If you think the chicken strips are done and the rice is not, you could remove them from the casserole and add them back on before...
  17. I cooked up the remaining batter this morning, adding a bit of water...they are fantastic!
  18. So how do you roast green chiles or can I do it the easy way and just open a can? Or are they the same thing? I have never bought fresh ones before. I am sure the roasted ones would taste better, be fresher and with no additives. I have all the ingredients, including canned green chiles, I want to make the gluten-free Pueblo bread from Open Original Shared...
  19. Not familiar so I just read a bit on it. I am so sorry for you guys. My Nutritional Healing book says to take: Bromelain plus curcumin, grape seed extract, quercetin, vit C with bioflavonoids. You might check into it and also ask your doc about it. Also diluted apple cider vinegar (Bragg's is good) rubbed on the irritation. Rub on a cut onion as...
  20. I think its all related b/c her stress triggered the problems which started the allergies and the blood in the stools and later we found out she was allergic to gluten. I don't think hers is any thing more to be concerned about at this point than say as an example, clogged sinuses, an allergy, or occasional constipation or D. But on the other hand if it is...
  21. The first post asks about nut and soy free flours so I am asking for that reason. Is Tom Sawyer flour nut and soy free? I use Bob Red Mill products and they are manufactured in a facility that also uses tree nuts and soy. I didn't know that until the other day, someone posted it. I am not allergic but I want to be aware of it for future reference. Thanks...
  22. I don't really care for waffles but these are delicious! So good you can eat them plain, right off the iron. I will be making these every week!!! recipezaar#312803 Banana-Nut Waffles I followed the recipe exactly except for: I used: 1 1/2 cups almond milk (the batter was still runny so I added more of Bob's gluten-free flour mix. Don...
  23. Yes, and I would say they are interchangeable from what I have read. Sorghum works great for baked goods. I have millet but only used it once so far. millet = 4g fiber and 3g protein sorghum= 3g fiber and 4 g protein per 1/4 cup
  24. You are welcome! My sister loved it and said she was going to make it tomorrow. I bet you could throw it in the pan the night before or the morning of and reduce the baking time. Next experiment... And I gave my sister a gluten-free "smore" from the cookies I had stashed in the freezer from the recipe I posted on August 14th. I put the marsmallow on top...
