ARCHIVED Anyone Else Disappointed With Applebee's?
msmini14 replied to MindytheOrganist's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I went to Applebees once years ago and the food and service was terrible. And it tasted like they cooked everything with some kind of alchohol. I tasted my dish and a friend's dish and it tasted like brandy or something. I cant stand the taste of any alchohol so it was a huge turn off for me. I would like to try Red Lobster but then again I prefer to... -
ARCHIVED Apples
msmini14 replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used to get horrible heart burn when I ate regular PB, when I switched to an all natural PB I no longer got heart burn. Now I used to get major cramping after eating an apple, so I stopped eating them for awhile and no longer have a problem with them anymore. I dont eat them as often anymore so not sure if that is the reason. -

ARCHIVED Feeling Like An Outcast
msmini14 replied to Iluvaceliac's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I always bring my own food with me and most people say that my food looks better than what they are eating. Or I get the glare from some people, like their food isnt good enough. I understand the social frustration, when I first went gluten-free I didnt go to any function that had food involved, was to hard for me. Now it isnt a problem. Best thing... -
ARCHIVED Bread Machine Experiences?
msmini14 replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have an Oster bread machine and I love it. This is my second bread machine but my first since going gluten-free. I cant believe I waited this long to get a bread machine. Anyway, it has a bunch of settings and even a gluten-free setting which I use. I follow the instructions that came with the bread machine which is liquid first, dry and make a little... -

msmini14 replied to msmini14's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No his BM's have been good. He always has back pain since he was injured overseas. Poor guy has what he calls pressure in his ab area, but like I said it jumps around. After is appointment tomorrow we are going to ask about testing for food allergies. DH says he has never had a problem and I had to remind him I ate wheat with no problem until late 20... -

msmini14 replied to DJ Jess's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you sure the foods you are eating are gluten-free? Everyone is different, your body might take awhile to heal. Try eating just whole foods for right now, nothing else. meat, potatoes, rice, yams, veggies, etc. Hope you feel better soon. -
ARCHIVED Baking Cookies Specifically Chocolate Chip
msmini14 replied to Marlie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This is a great multi purpose flour mixture that I use. 1 1/2 cups Sorghum Flour 1 1/2 cups Potato Starch 1 Cup of Tapioca Flour I recently made chocolate chip cookies for DH birthday and they are good. I think they are better as they cook off and sit for a couple of hours. 1/4 Cup unsalted butter at room temp 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup light... -
I had an ex like this and his behavior lasted for years, he could not get over it. We tried to be friends afterwards and it just didnt work at all. The minute he found out I was dating someone he would call and leave mean text messages, show up at my work, etc. If you have mutual friends do not tell them anything personal going on in your life. And most...

ARCHIVED Dh Is Ill And His Family Is Blaming My Gluten-Free Diet
msmini14 replied to msmini14's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for all the responses, I appreciate it. DH always eats gluten-free, even outside the home. Actually these days if he has gluten he gets sick from it, so he stays away from it now. Some of his family members understand my diet and others dont want to accept it. Last July his sister continued giving me dirty looks and making remarks about the... -
I travel a lot with my husband and I bring a ton of food with me. I bought this cooler on wheels at Costco which is the size of a carry on bag. I pre cook meals and put it all in the ziplock disposable dishes. I bring as much as I can stuff in my cooler so I dont have to worry about cooking for a few days. I bring muffins, cottage cheese, little yogurts...

Hi All! Has been awhile since I have been online. Hope everyone is good. I decided to make my own creamer one day when I paid almost $4.00 for Coffee Mate Creamer. I looked up a few things online and found that this is very simple to do. So I made my own and cant wait to try it out tomorrow morning. What I like about this so far is I know what is...

ARCHIVED Favorite Recipe For Last Year
msmini14 replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This is my favorite dish so far, I make mine with chicken thighs since it has a better texture in the chili compared to chicken breast. I cook mine in a big skillet, comes out great. When I bake whole chicken I will use the left overs for this or cook some extra chicken ahead of time. Santa Fe Chicken Chili Recipe You can easily make this recipe in... -

ARCHIVED Had Reaction From Uno's Gluten-free Menu
msmini14 replied to Laurelf's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
My husband and I always go there, we love this place. We have become friends with the owner and his manager, they really do care about the way the food is cooked. There is always a high chance of cc anywhere you eat, it is hard to avoid unless they serve gluten-free food only. I have had the pizza here and I did get sick once, but I cant say if it was... -
ARCHIVED Safeway Will Email gluten-free List Of Store-brand Products
msmini14 replied to Leonesse's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That is funny you say that, I emailed Safeway two different times for gluten free information and they never took the time to respond to me. Was a bit frustrating, you think they would at least care enough to respond with a simple answer. Share some of the info when you receive it if you dont mind =) -
