  1. Ditto!!! I've done WW with being gluten-free and was successful! i noticed more success if I followed the healthy guidlines (5-7 veggies, 6-8 glasses of water, 2-3 dairy, etc). Before going gluten-free I use to drink their smoothies with soy milk, but their smoothies, although I don't believe they contain wheat/gluten, it does say on the package that it...
  2. I was diagnosed in College too. It was really hard. I went in for my yearly physical, my doctor knew about my grandmother having Celiac....but forgot to write down that my cousin and aunt had it as well. She asked how I was feeling and told her I was getting more frequent heart burn and I was getting more constipation. After she realized how many people...
  3. I think my mother woudl rather me have this type of mimosa's rather than the real kind. It ensures her i'll make it down the aisle if I'm not too tipsy (especially for a 1130am ceremony!)! I might need one to wash it down though.....
  4. I keep tellnig everyone on the day of my wedding I want mimosas.....maybe I can kill to birds with one stone....breakfast AND my mimosas!!! Thank you so much for this recipe!!!!
  5. I'm still having it I go see my nwe GI doc in a week so I'm trying to stay on gluten. I've been eating it at night so the sluring and brain farts aren't as bad, but I can't wake up in the morning though :-(
  6. I can't answer the flour question....I've replaced bread with gluten-free pasta...and throw lunch meats or veggies on it. I haven't gotten that venturous yet :-) But the tomato sauce.....I think it might have to do with the acidity. I make my own (usualy throw diced tomatoes, garlic, peppers and a bunch of other spices in a blender, I also throw in some...
  7. Sorry CrazyGerman....I read your post wrong :-( my gluten brain is playing crazy tricks on me
  8. Barley is a no no Rice and brown rice are ok though.
  9. I know that there are some cider ales are ok, I'm just unsure of the brands though. My future father in law is trying to make a good gluten-free beer for me (he's also a home brewer as well). If you start brewing your own gluten-free beer, you'll probably need to get separate equipment for it. I miss my future father in law's pale ale....that stuff...
  10. I did the sedation.....it was such a breeze! The only time I ever woke up from sedation was from my colonoscopy (the doctor told me "he got stuck going around a corner" lol, I remember screaming owe owe owe and someone shushing me and then waking up in recovery). Endoscopy, you will have no issues!!! And agreed with PP....bringing a friend or a significant...
  11. Should have sent them a bill saying they paid the wrong co-pay amount. Stupid doctors......
  12. Moms....gotta love them I still remember the time my mom made lasagna for a family dinner (sister, husband and kids came by) and Didn't make me a gluten-free meal. lol. Lasagna, foccacia bread, salad with crutons in it already. Thanks mom
  13. I'm 26 and have found a couple already too It might be malnutrition or someone somewhere long the line in your family did go gray early. I only noticed the grays when I started to grow out my hair from all the dying i use to do to it.
  14. That was me when I was diagnosed. 20 years old....6 months before 21st b-day! Seriously I was PO'd like no one would believe. I've read a lot of posts about symptoms and what people went through before they were dx'd. I was dx'd due to some heartburn and constipation....and family history. Once my primary knew how many people in my family really had...
  15. I noticed you said that you went to Beth Isreal in Boston.....I live in MA, originally from RI. Get away from Boston docs. All their health records are linked in to one another (FI goes to Mt Auburn for his kidneys and BIDMC can see all his tests and doctors notes). I used Dr Margolis in Providence for a few years after I was diagnosed. If you're willing...
  16. Definately don't look at it like punishing your family. My Fiance has tried some of the gluten free foods and some both of us have liked, and others not so much. It's definately trial and error when you get past the meats and veggies and rice, but you'll eventually find things that your whole family will like. Once you get the hang of the "basics" (again...
  17. Oh yummy yummy yummy!!!!!!!!! I love blue berry pie......warm with a little ice cream. ANy good gluten free vanilla ice creams out there?
  18. I'm looking into buying a breadmaker to make my gluten-free breads.....I'm a little too lazy to make bread the real way (kneeding, etc) and I was curious as to who makes their breads in their Breadmaker? Which one do you have and does it have a gluten-free setting? Thank you... Missing bread in Massachusetts
  19. I like to bake too, and we can't afford me to buy all the different flours. So I stick to Gluten Free Pantry bread mix, rice pasta, and on occasion some brownies or chocolate cake mix (usualy about one every 2-3 months). My fiance will look at me say "you had to go on this diet now" because we just bought a home, paying for our wedding and hoping to go...
  20. Smirnoff Red Lable (triple distilled) all of my gluten-free family members have had....and none of us had a reaction to it. I usually add lemonade, sprite, cranberry, OJ to it. I have to check if sunny-d is gluten-free because it's so much nicer on my stomach than regular OJ. The acid kills me! check out this link.... https://www.celiac.com/articles...
  21. Thou shall not steel your honey's gluten-free snacks, he/she might need them for the next non gluten-free outting.
  22. (drools on keyboard).... YUMMO as Rachel Ray would say! I have so many choice to make a cake for my shower!!!! Oh man oh man oh man!
  23. I remember the first time going to a restaurant and eating out with work I ended up crying. We went to a place where I could not eat one thing on the menu....not even a salad. I ran to the bathroom and started crying and ended up leaving the place. The next day, my boss called me into his office and asked what happened and why I left....and I told him...
  24. My cousin was diagnosed at 6, my aunt at 40-something, me at 20 and my grandmother in her mid 70s. My cousin was the first diagnosed and they never thought to test her because they thought that this was something that in "older women of Irish decent." When my cousin was diagnosed (this was almost 15 years ago), that was one of the thoughts because celiac...
  25. I love sparkling water with some fruit slices in it....refreshing and sweet enough too!
