  1. We just had our company outting....I was told that there would be grilled chicken and all this other stuff that I could have...but something told me not to eat. So I RSVP'd YES, but brought my own food. Low and behold, it was fried chicken, some sort of coating on the baked potatoes and some sort of seasoning on corn ont he cob. Plus I was also told that...
  2. Well in RI they're called hot weiners...they're smaller than regular hot dogs....but put all meat, onions and celery salt as wella s mustard!!! man oh man.... Ok...stop talking about those now
  3. It might be because you're getting a normal appetite back. have you been watching your portion size? I actually had a reverse reaction...I gained weight when I ate gluten and I lost weight once I became gluten-free. Everytime I would eat somethign with gluten, I would get full real fast, then an hour later I would be hungry and eating again. 1/4 serving...
  4. Actually, this woman that use to work at the company both my fiance and i work at just left to go manage a Melting Pot in Burlington MA. She said that we should give 24 hours notice for gluten free meals. She brought up the "there is wheat flour in the cheese" etc....and I had said to her, "it's not just wheat, it'e barley, malt, rye, oats, etc" She said...
  5. We pretty much are a gluten-free kitchen with the exception of our breads and pastas. We eat my snacks, my waffles, pancakes, bread crumbs etc. In the morning I make my lunch first then my fiance's. I have succumbed to being the only one who cooks when we decide to have pasta. The last time my fiance did...he used the pan I normally use for gluten-free...

    ARCHIVED Yasmin

I took Yasmin for years and loved it. I recently went off of it and got an IUD for cost and effectiveness reasons. My Fiance arent' planning no having babies for another 5 years after we get married so that was a safer route for us. Took some time to get use to the IUD, but I love it now. Again, Yasmin is a love it or hate it pill.
  7. Actually my cousin's doctor said that the reason why they had such an sisue diagnosing her was because she was so young, they always thought of Celiac as being something that older women of Irish/European decent had gotten. My Cousin was 6 when they finally diagnosed her....I was diagnosed at 20, my Aunt self diagnosed at 40-something...my grandmother diagnosed...
  8. I want tuna...but my fiance contaminated the mayo Going out this weekend to get new mayo Grr
  9. I am getting married in two months and I told the place that we're having our reception at that "i will be damned if I have to bring my own food to my own wedding." (a little more plesant, but that was the jist of the ocnveration). We also have 4 other guests that have celiac as well! My fiance and I are paying for the wedding, and honestly I don't want...
  10. Hey there, I tried Bob's Bread Mix and I wasn't a fan. However it did make great breadcrumbs though. Any bread mix that you try and you don't like, just toast up the bread and grind it up in your food processor for meatballs, meat loaf, chicken parm, etc. Hope you like the bread mix better than I did. Although I am pretty picky about my breads
  11. I love Midel Ginger Snaps! I used them for my smores for the 4th!
  12. I have celiac and my fiance has kidney disease (IGa nephropathy). We actually try not to do too much processed foods (we're tryign to save money as we're getting married in two months...AAAH). We usually stick to white rice (brown has more potassium) and when we have veggies, it's iceburg lettuce (less potassium than others) some carrots, corn. If we have...
  13. I was tested due to family history....I had no noticeable symptoms (meaning nothing big enough to complain about). I came back positive with bloodwork and biopsy. My father was tested (since the gene is on his side of the family) and he came back negative but he does have the gene (well duh how do you think I got celiac!)...and he eats pasta, bread and...
  14. My mother has been coming up and making my bread for me on weekends. She's cutting me off 3 months from today (that's the day I'm gtting married). I am taking very detailed notes from you ladies as mom's not being very forthcoming with her yeast frothing/bread making abilities. How dare a non gluten-free person hoard such valuable information!
  15. Well I did talk to the owner, she actually told me not to bother getting the cake there. LOL. They are a nut free bakery so they know and understand more about cross contamination and know that even a crumb isn't good. So I guess we'll be doing our large tiered cake through them...and going to Celia Cakes for a mini-verson so I can have my cake and eat...
  16. I told my new GI doc that was what I was taking and she told me to stop because it was no longer gluten-free (I didn't check the lable for a few years...they had changed their formula). I actually take Fiber Choice. Their website says that it's gluten free as well. I think I was also told that citrucel was gluten-free as well....I wouldn't try to risk...
  17. My cousin was diagnosed at age 6, Aunt was self diagnosed at 40, GMa was diagnosed in her 70s, and I was diagnosed when I was 21. This is all on my fathers side, he has diabetes and refuses to get tested fro celiac....he thinks that this is a load of crock. Needless to say, I have to now do my own cooking at my parents house now.
  18. My fiance notice my breath was pretty horrid a while ago. My primary told me to take pepcid because it was due to stress (from planning a wedding and buying a new home). But now that i've been gluten free again, he did say that it was getting better.
  19. I was tested because I had 3 other family members who had it.....
  20. Once your body gets use to eating more protien you'll be able to have more. Keep up the good work! You'll also start feeling fuller longer as well!
  21. I didn't have many of the severe symptoms that a lot of others have. But after being off the gluten-free diet for 2-3 years I started doing more research and the whole cancer, infertility, diabetes, etc started scaring me. Also the further I read, I realized I had more symptoms than I thought. I had the spaceyness, gas, constipation, bloated belly. I...
  22. I think I'm going to have to ask my future husband to take me out to dinner one night........
  23. My fiance has to watch his protien intake, he can only have 75 grams/day. 4 ounces of cooked chicken or beef is about 24-30 grams of protien. 4 ounces is the size of deck of playing cards. 1 large egg is 6 grams of protien. (I've had all these memorized in my head - I can even cut a perfect 3 ounce peice of meat now too!!!! ok that's enough of tooting...
  24. My wedding venue includes our wedding cake in our package. They do offer a flourless cake, but I was wondering if anyone on here had any issues with their flourless cake. I am emailing them to find out what the ingredients are to make sure it's gluten-free, not just wheat free. I know that there is still a chance for cross contamination - which if I eat...
  25. Seriously, what the heck is wrong with people? Why do people get such joy out of seeing someone hurt or sick! I want to kick people like your old roommie. Grrrrrrrrrrr
