Thanks for your timjava script:emoticon('') smiliee and trouble, celiac3270! Got the lists today! -
Jeri, Even though I am gluten-free, I still do take Imodium. Actually, I take the brand from Sam's Club b/c it is the same strength (2 mg loperamide). I have had so many unexpected "attacks" resulting in mad dashes to the bathroom that I have become paranoid about it. Sometimes I made it and sometimes I didn't and those are the times that have warped my...

ARCHIVED Supplements/tests

Please forgive the subject/verb disagreement: I meant celiac friends "feel" would be helpful. That doesn't reflect very well on my profession!! LOL -
ARCHIVED Supplements/tests
cmom posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Moderators, feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place. After school is out (I'm a special ed teaching assistant), I plan on stepping up my health regimen as follows: Get a bone density test to check for osteoporosis Get thyroid test (what test exactly should I request?) Now as for supplements, I would like brands and dosages that anyone... -
ARCHIVED New Delphi Lists! Product Lists!
cmom replied to celiac3270's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi celiac3270! If it's not too much trouble I would also like the updated lists. My email address is: rldter@rtccom.net Thank you so much for EVERYTHING! -
I wish you well Sally and hope you are feeling better soon. Mom's are great when we're ill, even at my age (45)!

Rather than just lurk as I normally do, thought I would share the experience I had last night. I was in my new favorite health food store and was checking out. I had put a package of Asian Gourmet rice crisps on the counter. The VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE checkout person picked them up and studied them. They were labeled gluten free so I did not read the ingredients...

Have a recipe I wanna try that calls for sweet rice flour. Haven't been able to find it yet. Are there any substitutions for this or does anyone have any helpful info? Thanks.

Being able to eat out anywhere and my husband not have to ask me if there's anything I can eat at a particular restaurant. Thank goodness he tries to understand.

ARCHIVED Mornings.. Do U Get Sick
cmom replied to roddi's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
YES YES AND YES!!! Mornings are bad!! They are better than they used to be before going gluten-free however. I have to be at work at 7:30 but get up at 5:30 so I can get any "bathroomitis" over with before leaving (I only live 5 minutes from my job). If I am going anywhere in the morning, I get up 2 hours earlier at least. Hate riding with people other... -
ARCHIVED Inpute Required: Time To Recover
cmom replied to roddi's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would be interested in knowing the brand of enzymes. I have never used them but think they might help. Also, what dosage do you take? Thanks. -
Thanks for the info, Kate. I haven't attended any support groups. I'm 45 minutes away from B-town so usually don't have the energy to drive that far for a meeting. I do wish Bloomingfoods would put all of their gluten-free products in one section so we wouldn't have to read labels down every aisle.

ARCHIVED Obstacles Faced By Celiacs
cmom replied to ResearcheringCeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can't speak for everyone b/c each person has different symptoms. However, with chronic diarrhea being my main one, I can tell you that going out in public has been a real challenge at times. Everyone in my family can tell you that I know where every restroom is between home and 50 miles in any direction. Once you have an "unpleasant" experience, it causes... -
ARCHIVED Gained 15 Pounds 2 Months
cmom replied to whitelacegal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am not diabetic but I am getting extremely frustrated with the weight gain. I have been gluten-free for several years but have been consistently gaining the past 7-8 months. According to my scale, I gained 10 pounds in 10 days! Is that possible? I would think I'd have to eat 24/7 to gain that much in that short period. I can barely fasten my jeans... -
Hey Kabowman, I also eat frequently at Bloomington but am too backward to ask for a gluten-free menu (Yes, I know!!) Other than Red Lobster, do you know which other BLoomington restaurants accomodate those of us who need gluten-free food? Thanks.

Thanks for the article. Before being diagnosed, I miscarried (went through hard labor with no baby) and it took me 2 years before I was able to conceive again. Thank God, I had a healthy son that time and another one a year later.

ARCHIVED 10 Months Gf -- And I Still Have Symptoms
cmom replied to celiac3270's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wanted to let you know that since committing to a gluten-free diet, I am SO much better. Before the diarrhea was so bad that many times I could not leave my house. However, I still have attacks of the cramping and diarrhea (Had a horrific experience in WalMart a couple of weeks ago) at times but not as often. Also, I have gained weight and exercise but... -
ARCHIVED New Endoscopy
cmom replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hadn't heard about the yearly blood tests. My gastro has me come in for blood tests and small bowel with follow through xray every 3 years. If he doesn't see a problem, he says I don't need to come in sooner. -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Have Trouble With Popcorn?
cmom replied to LJCurly9's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can't do popcorn on an empty stomach, but if I've had something to eat maybe three hours before, it doesn't seem to bother me. -
YES NO FEMALE Seems to be a pattern here

ARCHIVED Sunbeam Breadmaker
cmom replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Bread turned out tasting great!!! My new machine made a smaller loaf than my old Toastmaster, but the bread is good and holds together. Sorry, though, the recipe I used has both eggs and yeast. -
ARCHIVED Sunbeam Breadmaker
cmom replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My husband totally surprised me with a new bread machine for Christmas (He is very understanding of me and this disease.) I have a gluten-free loaf baking as we speak so we'll see how it turns out. It is a Toastmaster TBR15. Everywhere he went looking for one, he was told by many salespersons they will not be carrying bread machines anymore because no... -
I'm looking for a gluten-free persimmon pudding recipe if anyone has one. THANKS>
