  1. i was anorexic in my teens for a couple of years.. i grew up in the ballet world, and we got weighed in every saturday. i used to have an OCD habit of counting my calories-> even to this day (16 years later)- i PURPOSEFULLY do NOT count calories- because i do not wanna fall back into that neurotic obsession. you can do this! you can lose weight for health...
  2. interesting... what were your symptoms from hyperparathyroidism- and how did your docs come to test that- i had never even heard them talk about it, only just found it on the internet. did u ALSO have thyroid disorders? or just the parathyroid?
  3. try not to stress too much- i know how u feel, when i first started on my dx journey- i read everything (still do)... and i kept seeing EVERYWHERE that Celiac and Diabetes 1 go hand in hand... blah blah blah... i was so paranoid... but its not the case really... ya- it is more common for one to have multiple Autoimmune Diseases, rather than 1- but we all...
  4. i too was about 30lbs overweight too or sometimes just 10lbs overweight and always bloated. From what ive read- Wheat consumption can lead to insulin resistance in some .. Seperate issue from gluten/gliadin intolerance.. But doesnt mean u cant have issues with both. Ontop of that i have 2 theories- 1. I think because your body is in a state of inflammation...
  5. if you're gluten intolerant, or celiac: have you had a history of reflux? or silent reflux? when was your last endoscopy?? if its been a while- it might be a good idea to scope and check everything..?? and maybe get your vitamin levels checked too... hope you get it all figured out
  6. well- go get her set up with a good endo- and keep us posted- believe me- if you can save her from years of anxiety and the (qualifiable for surgery) hemmohroids that i suffer from- than she will be thanking you forever! go get 'em
  7. um- sorry to go on and on about the thyroid- but you mentioned the pill getting stuck-> have u and i already discussed if youve had a thyroid panel???? hope im not annoying anyone- but im learning so so much about it these days with my dx... and kinda frustrated that i AT LEAST had it for the last 7 years- but never knew all these symptoms i wish...
  8. i had something similar months ago- while at work- it scared the bejesus out of me- then it seemed to migrate to my upper right rectus abdominus (upper right stomach muscle in an 8 pack)-> where i had severe muscle spasms- so bad i was asking my manager if i could leave- and i was the tears were just dripping like crazy... i went to a walk in clinic- the...
  9. you said your result was "4"? which result? TTG? or Antigliadin? there's also an EMA test... there's those 3.. and you only got one- dont be discouraged that you dont have any answers when you only had 1 test done. if you look at the test results in my "signature"- you'll see only my EMA was a solid positive. my TTG was "weak", and my Antigliadin were Negative...
  10. i cant eat peanuts at all... or most legumes for that matter. i get horrific gas pains like i swallowed a box of rocks. i avoid honey cause of fructose malabsorption. now- the rest of the nuts & seeds u mentioned- are totally fine with me HOWEVER- if i eat too much- i could get a stomach ache.. also- ive only had quinoa cooked, and been fine...
  11. it is my understanding- that its textbook for docs to only look at the TSH. (even tho you could have thyroid disease with a normal TSH too). i was diagnosed with Hypothyroid- because my TSH was 11.39. i had to BEG my PCP to test for Hashimoto's antibodies. those came back positive (512). i also felt horrific on the Synthroid- like someone had put me on...
  12. SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! that's why i always request a copy of my results. geez they told me over the phone about my Grave's but they neglected to tell me i was D deficient (26)... so, after i saw it on the paper, i ordered D3... hope i can normalize. i was also just researching Hyperparathyroidism.... now im worried about that ??
  13. ok, so 1st- my reaction to fructose is slightly different than to gluten... it's similar to excess lactose- but almost worse- MAJOR bloating- like 4 months pregnant, painful gas (sometimes debhilatating), and bladder inflammation. im hoping its only temporary like lactose intolerance is for some people .. but not sure yet. so, here is a link to glance...
  14. YES!!!!! it is so ridiculous how our system has left Gluten Intolerance out of every medical article i see- everytime i read about various Autoimmune Diseases- like Hashimoto's or Alopecia, or whatever- the article always says that it's a complete mystery as to how almost all of these diseases get triggered... and ive read a little on MS (as 2 of my good...
  15. totally wondering if the whole foods lady put WheatGrass in my drink instead of Spirulina?? been nauseaus, & a new patch of DH :/ ????

  16. i think 2 weeks. and i only got my email. i had asked for a mailed paper copy too.. but just had to print my email. im so glad i did it
  17. you should bring your ONE delicious gluten-free cupcake with u to the next meeting- and eat it while the others are eating. and- i think its gonna get easier for you- really.... a year ago- people looked at me funny when i didnt eat wheat or gluten.. but now everyone seems to be more aware of gluten intolerance because it's been in the news, and there...
  18. they actually go by the TSH. and you say hers used to be 5.5? also- i thought in the original post you said her TSH was over 8... which is dangerously high i believe. actually Shortness of Breath (my BIGGEST symptom over the last 7 years- ) is a symptom mainly of Hypothyroid... but also of Hyperthyroid. irregular heartbeat CAN be a symptom of Hyperthyroid...
  19. thankyou, still feel like A$$... i swear fructose hits me harder than lactose and i agree with other poster-> that Gluten Free Goddess girl- Katrina- she's got YUMMY looking recipes on there!
  20. you can still have Celiac without DQ2 & DQ8. they are diagnosing patients in Europe with different genes- and there are members on here with different genes. (Ravenwood has double DQ9 ) and agreed with emilushka? -> it really doesnt matter- which you have- a gluten free diet is still required. Also ****** her TSH over 8 means she needs to see...
  21. sorry if my answer is short- not feeling well... too much fructose anyways- it is my opinion that you FOR SURE have Celiac- those numbers are more than high enough, and they're all positive.. your nutritionist is not a GI, or even a Celiac patient- she did not learn how to read the Celiac panel in school.. question- what made you wanna try Seitan...
  22. i understand not wanting to take something if you dont need it- especially a hormone- BUT- it IS possible that you may need it- even tho your numbers are "ok".. every individual should actually have their own range- but that would be impossible. im impressed that you have a doctor wanting to explore treating you for your symptoms and not just your numbers...
  23. the Endomysial Antibody is only specific to Celiac. altho false negatives are common- and it is an easy test to mess up in the lab- but it was the only solid positive i had. my antigliadin was negative, and my ttg was very WEAK. and im curious about your TPO antibodies... i wonder if it's a fluke- or if it's the beginning of Hashimoto's..??
  24. i think you're on the right track for sure- and like ravenwood said- i would not be surprised in the least- if u have other members in your family with undiagnosed celiac. in addition to the DH... even if your uncle only had psoraisis or excema- these are commonly problems for those of us with gluten intolerance- ive had it all... as has my dad- whom im...
