  1. the only antacid pill i'll take ever again is Zantac- and ONLY temporarily IF i have an ulcer... its better to take something more mild like Pepto Bismol or tums (gluten-free ones only).. because the proton pump inhibitors can make things worse- they shut down your stomach so that it cant make stomach acid.. but if your stomach is not in the middle of an...
  2. um okay- this symptom checker quiz sounds like fun- can you post the link?!?????? and as to why your doc only order the ttg... idk why? i see it a lot on here tho- many people going in for a test- but only one test my PCP ran TTG iga & TTG igg, Antigliadin Iga & Igg, EMA, and total Iga serum. <- this is a pretty complete panel- and i was...
  3. IGG is just another version of the IGA antibody... if someone is IGA deficient- they need to get the IGG versions of the tests to get an accurate result. but since both your IGA & IGG versions were similar and positive- it doesnt really matter. did that make sense?? it's likely from looking at your results- that your immune system is "normal" and is able...
  4. woww... kudos to your endo for knowing the sometimes link. if it helps u to understand at all: gluten intolerance and celiac is not the same thing as an allergy. sometimes you may notice the negative effects on the same day- and other days you may not... so you cant always judge your reactions to gluten... if you have a problem- the gluten is activating...

    ARCHIVED Lupus?

u know TwinkleToez- it's always POSSIBLE that avoiding gluten forever will keep the lupus at bay.... there's so much the public and medical community dont know yet about gluten and disease- and it seems from this and other online communities- people are finding relief from going gluten free... i think someone on here said her Sjorgens went away after...
  6. well- God Bless your new Endocrinologist!!
  7. has she had malabsorption problems before? if it's a new thing- i would suspect gluten getting in at school. but my personal experience is with additional food intolerances (excess lactose, fructose malabsorption, and corn giving me gluten like reactions). i dont know if im not healed enough, but i should be- but overdoing certain salad greens- they...
  8. SUE- i had YOU in mind when i asked my Endo if she would ever consider having me on T3 only... and tho, she's very nice, and openminded, she didnt like the sound of that. my T3 & T4 numbers were GREAT when i was dx. (only my TSH off at 11.39)... and when i went on Synthroid ONLY- my T4 raised slightly and my T3 went down... and i felt manic. when...

    ARCHIVED Lupus?

twinkletoez-> have u considered that u may have additional food intolerances??? many on here get arthritic pain from nightshades. i do from potatoes... gemini-> which 4 do u have? sjorgens, celiac, hashimoto's.. and_________ ? i always hear people say they come in 3s.. so i really hope im not getting a 4th one like u
  10. yes- google Dr. J and his "G.A.R.D. diet"... he's a veterinarian with Celiac. and most of his theories/writings involve how gluten/wheat, dairy, soy, and corn seem to negatively affect his animals as they do many humans.. including skin & neurological disorders... its all very interesting... people find him controversial- but i think he's a very nice...
  11. but the TTG is not obsolete... its just one tiny piece. this disease is still so not understood by the medical community yet- so you really need AS MANY parts to the panel as possible.. we have to be skeptical & open minded at the same time. of course we respect MAYO.. and we also respect Dr. Peter Greene at the Celiac research center at Columbia University...
  12. ... or 25 years... or 46 years.. or never annoying... NANCY: you should just get on the diet- get healthy.. turn your life around- and the next time u see your docs- you can tell them that everything went away when u went gluten free
  13. agreed- its okay to skip the endoscopy- he's positive enough.. go gluten free now... but in the future- i think endos and colonoscopies are all good ideas for us- after years of being undiagnosed- its good to keep an eye and make sure everything's ok has he also been dx with hypothroidism?? i am 99% sure Levoxyl is gluten free (and maybe lactose free...
  14. the DH doesnt always sting and burn.. sometimes its just itchy.. and also wanted to add- that tho excema and psoraisis are seperate entities from DH... they too improved and disappeared for me when i went gluten free. this recent winter tho- ive had some excema or psoraisis on my knuckles that stubbornly wont go away- and an allergic expert online told...
  15. i'll have to hunt for the link later, as i am running to work.. but i had read that there were thousands or tens of thousands of proteins in wheat.. that there were more different proteins in wheat than there were in the human body... and that most animals and humans have not evolved to digest it
  16. that's interesting- cause another member on here said it gave him "C". L-Glutamine almost always smoothes things out for me ... but i know sometimes we have opposite reactions. a couple of times metamucil has given me a little "C"... and Valerian root always gives me insomnia ??
  17. thanks for the links... will study them later after work. i felt absolutely worse on the T4 alone- and luckily found a good endo who put me on a combo which made all the difference. from everything ive been researching: most women do no convert the T4 to T3 as adequately as men do. i also just found out that i have Grave's in addition to the Hashimoto...
  18. i live in florida too... and i THOUGHT that i was getting plenty of sun... AND i eat tons of eggs and fish.. and wouldnt u know it- i just got my D tested - and its below range... AND they didnt even tell me.. i had to find it on the results i requested to be mailed to me. i started taking D3... i hope things improve like the girl above make sure you get...
  19. ok...waittttttttttt a second... you've totally lost me- what is: NCGS ???? did i miss part of the convo? am i having brain fog??? i really am clueless.. help also- you do not need a DQ2 or a DQ8 necessarily to have Celiac of Debhilitating Gluten Intolerance. also- you could have a DQ2 or a DQ8 and not have any issues. also- the TTG is only 1 antibody...
  20. dont just dismiss your thyroid either (which is also aggravated by gluten)... thyroid can cause all kinds of intestinal issues- constipation with HYPO.. and "D" with HYPER.. and it is quite possible to have both.. have u thought about a genetic test? it doesnt diagnose- but it might be one more piece of the puzzle- it was for me. also- i know it must...

    ARCHIVED Lupus?

i understand your frustration.. i really lucked out with the T3 and T4- even my PCP was testing those from the beginning- it's not a crazy request- dont feel bad about asking for it- you have every right... TSH is only one guess really- not everybody is textbook. and my PCP wouldnt order the RT3, and i had to beg her to test my antibodies.... but my Endocrinologist...
  22. ps- are you getting routine thyroid panels??? you need to make sure you stay on top of that so you dont suffer needlessly
  23. my general malaise and crampiness & painful gas is somewhat similar... but wheat & gluten cause more pain... and more bloating too much milk usually gives me "D".. and gluten would always give me "C" OR a combination. years ago, when i was regularly eating gluten- i had those classic discolored and fatty, malabsorption BMs. also- like said above...

    ARCHIVED Lupus?

should u also be seeing a Rheumatologist? for routine lupus panels? when i was being tested as a teen- i saw a Rheumy... but i was never dx, and do not have it. i TOO had the butterfly rash- but mine has gone away going gluten free. i agree that i would not want to take lupus meds either- as long as you're continually getting routinely tested for Lupus- just...
  25. ha ha ha ha , i just watched this via facebook... so so so true.. even down to the antidepressants which my pcp wanted to put me on when i complained i felt like i was on METH with the Synthroid.... geez lady also- did u see where Ronaldo (Brazilian soccer legend) just retired... and that one of the issues was that he needed to get on meds. he has...
